Attended a conference here in November staying in bedrooms in the main house which had very sturdy metal bunk beds. Acute shortage of hot water in the morning for showers/washing - warmer in the afternoon, so best to use such facilities then rather than in morning. Conference facilities were good for around 50 people. Food somewhat school dinner-ish though breakfast... More

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you had a good stay. The boiler replacement saga (the reason for the hot water problem) is almost over - the new boilers have been delivered and are being fitted over the course of next week so we'll be back to reliable 24 hour hot water. Sorry you caught it before it was done.... More

Had a great family holiday. Great location. Accommodation is fine. Hostel was full but was always able to get into self catering kitchen at times we needed and restaurant on night we wanted. So much to do in the area, great village. Will definitely be back.

Stayed with group of six in the barn. As per someone else s previous comment written 18 month ago, the path to get there is dangerous as there is no light whatsoever. Basically have to cross a first avoiding the roots and carrying luggage all the way. The barn in itself is very basic and not suitable for six people.... More

Thanks very much for the review and sorry you didn't enjoy your stay in the barn. We try to make it clear on the web site that it is a rustic camping barn in a field and we've put the specific advice to bring torches for the approach walk for anyone not familiar with the countryside? If you can think... More

I'd not stayed in a YHA since I was a kid. Had no idea what to expect. My wife, myself and our 8 year old lad thought we'd try it out. We are quite keen campers, and love our old basic campervan, but this seemed a good winter option. This yha is set in a beautiful location, and is a... More

Great value 3 course meal for £11.95 per adult and children under 10 eat free! Portion sizes are good. Tables had candles on them. The atmosphere in the dining room was lovely and there was a good choice of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. We had 2 lovely meals here last weekend even though we were not staying at... If you intent to stop here I would not recommend you have any of the food served here breakfast or the evening meal neither was valve for money and was in a poor content of food quality, this lets the YHA down ?

The house is stunning, the grounds are extensive. The staff are wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food was great and excellent value. I ate in the restaurant both nights. 11.95 for 3 courses. The communal areas and library are great. All in all a brilliant hostel and I'll definitely be back.

Great time in this amazing property. We stayed in the main block in a family room with ensuite facilities. The room was not overly spacious but adequate. It was light and airy and clean. Fantastic grounds for the kids to explore in a safe environment. Being the end of the school holidays too meant there were other children to make... More

Set in acres of beautiful unspoilt countryside, with goats and chickens running wild, YHA Losehill is the perfect tranquil British retreat. I mark it down because of the food. We were offered a choice of halal chicken or halal beef pie. I did not ask for halal. This represents animal cruelty. It's not British. This is not how things should... More

Thanks for the review. Regarding your comments about the food; The meat was halal as we had a large group eating who had requested it for their meals and it was less wasteful to prepare the same for everyone. There were other choices available too, including non meat ones. We welcome everyone in our hostel and that includes offering menus... More

I booked a family room - with four bunk beds. The room was spacious and the beds were really comfy! All bedding is supplied. We were in the Pevril building. Thanks for the kind review. Glad you liked the new rooms. There is a second bathroom in the Peveril flat by the way, we've just put new signs on so both are more obvious - sorry about that. We're going to improve the outside lighting shortly, thanks- a useful comment. More
