Just spent a fantastic weekend at this beautiful well kept Youth Hostel. I will definitely be making a return visit, if we're allowed as we were very rowdy. Hathersage itself is very picturesque and only a short bus journey from castleton, although don't take any notice of the bus timetables, they come when they want.

I will be back! A small friendly youth hostel, clean and comfortable. The supper club meal offered plenty of choice and was well cooked, even on the night when I was the only person who had ordered a meal.

Stayed one night at the youth hostel whilst up in the High Peak attending a 2 day outdoor first aid course. Stayed over on the Saturday night, had a single private room with shared toilets and showers. Hostel was spotlessly clean, room was compact but had everything I needed for one night, comfy bed, own sink - absolutely fine. Had...

The fella greeting me was very friendly, I would recommend to anyone, many thanks. The rooms were nice and clean, bed comfortable enough. Hot showers. Serviceable kitchen to use freely. Has free wifi too, so you cannot find fault, just brilliant.

We only stayed for one night but it was great. The room, shower facilities, kitchen, etc were all excellent and the staff we encountered were very friendly. We also had breakfast which had plenty of choice and was well cooked.

Easy to miss. Basic accommodation as you would expect of a YHA but clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent facilities to lock up bikes. For things to do see my review of Freda's Grave.

This was great. The staff were the most friendly people ever. And the rooms where incredible. All beds comfy and clean. Food was well-cooked at breakfast and dinner, lunch was given for days out. In a beautiful village with amazing walks around it.

We booked a family room directly with the YHA and got an absolute bargain with membership and a further 10% discount. In total we paid £34.65 for a family of five. Despite this, I was so alarmed by a previous review that I thought I'd better check the price of the nearest Premier Inn; I like a bargain, but I...

Thank you for your kind words. It's always a pleasure when the residents have a great time, especially when there were misgivings as to whether you would use the hostel. We try, at all times, to maintain as high a standard as possible to ensure all our guests enjoy their break in this idyllic part of the Peak District.

We booked a family room through booking.com for £99 for a family of 5... Baring in mind a Premier Inn was available for £62! We stay at YHA all the time for Saturday nights away with the children - we love walking and after a long day don't want to drive home. First time at this hostel and despite requesting...

Sorry you found the hostel to be inadequate for your purposes and below the standard you expected. We try as hard as possible to maintain the hostel in a clean and well repaired state as possible but as the YHA is a charity aimed at helping young children to enjoy and explore the countryside we are limited in the funds...

Stayed in other hostels but a bit disappointed in this one for a few reasons. In the main house there are only two toilets for four rooms which led to queues. Shelfs for glasses etc by beds and in showers would have been useful. The biggest let down was the quality of produce used for breakfast especially the sausages. It...

Sorry you found the facilities to be inadequate and you had to queue to use them. Thank you for pointing out the problem with the breakfast sausages. We have taken your words on board and switched the type we use in order to improve the service we supply.
