Would not recommend booking through third party as we was met with some unexpected charges as well as it being expensive, ended up overall costing way more than it was worth, top floor basic room heard every plane (which was expected as very close to the airport) excellent for travelling but our stay was a relax and unwind spa break felt more stressed and anxiety break - not advised where to go or what to do ended up being told off for not signing into leisure facilities its OK when your a member and know where you are going and what to do but for first time we was not told anything and made to feel stupid when asked a question to staff members because of this dont think we would stop again deffo not for a spa break - sauna was not working the first night of our stay but was the second.
The restaurant was the best bit couldn't fault our experience although we heard waitress's moaning about other members of staff right next to our table which i felt was a little bit unprofessional. The website states no lift but there is ...
Breakfast was nice 10/10 for food overall, but for what we went for wouldn't stay again can find somewhere else cheaper as felt could of had a week abroad for the amount we paid.
We also had treatments booked which we had to choose prior to our arrival when we booked yet when we got there was asked do you know what treatments you have ? Feel less is communicated when booking through someone else rather than direct, lesson learnt, cant see staying here again any time soon unless flying.
Just think if someone had shown us around the facilities first rather than assume you know would of saved a lot of hassle of not knowing, everyone's new at some point right? Overall disappointed for what it was.

Greeted to a lovely lady behind the desk, who checked us in and answered our questions we had.
Masks in a basket on reception desk to take as and when you please also lots of sanitizer around too, so this was reassuring too see.
All staff seem to follow the covid rules too even better!

We got into our room, which was nice enough a few things could revamp and make it a little more 'executive room worthy' one bottle of water and one packet of biscuits not really cutting it for two guests.

Breakfast in the hotel which is based in Marcos restaurant. Again all covid restrictions were followed.
Felt a little ignored/rushed if I'm honest while ordering, getting breakfast ect
We ordered toast and to fried breakfasts before I had even finished ordering how I wanted my egg she walked away?!
Drinks served half heartedly too. We had to ask for drinks multiple times. We received our fry up and I got the correct eggs amazingly! No toast turned up though!
Breakfast did not disappoint but staff could be a little more attentive. I would highly recommend the fry up although you get one sausage, a hash brown two rashes of bacon and beans, partner gutted they didn't have any mushrooms.

Room; bed comftable
Towel heater had dodgy black tale around the connections and I caught it and tripped all the power out in our room, again a lovely staff member came out for then my partner to fix. Still covered in black tape ect she told us just to switch it off and not use it.
Hairdryer only worked for 10 mins before it had enough of working and didn't turn on again!

Overall this hotel is well presented but could have a little upgrade in the rooms.

Dear ABILB Thank you for your recent review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and had a lovely greeting and found the bed comfortable. I'm also really pleased that you pointed out our Covid safe regulations in a positive manner as this is obviously very important to us and future potential guest. I have also spoken to the Restaurant Manager regarding breakfast and Maintenance regarding the towel rail, due to the ever changing regulations regarding breakfast it has been difficult for the team but we've clearly got some work to do and they will take these points constructively and work on them to improve. Our Maintenance is now back from Furlough and is progressing quickly through he hotel and I will be sure to mention this Best wishes Yvonne Hyde General Manager

We stayed here for two nights for a mini honeymoon break as our abroad holiday was rescheduled.
The staff were very good putting a package together for us to include a superior room, dinner each night, breakfast and a massage treatment for us both.
The room itself was a good size and relatively quiet all though the doors close very hard up and down the corridors during the night.
The spa treatment was wonderful, very professional and on time. The spa itself could do with more cleaning, the pool area had a lot of hairs and fluff in it which wasn’t pleasant and the dirty towel deposit was over flowing.
The restaurant was good, although very pricey especially for drinks. Food was average although I must say the steak was worth the supplement.
Over all good stay - Thank you

I stayed here recently with my husband and our two children, aged 9 and 12.

We booked the hotel weeks in advance and upon arrival were given room 435, which is on the top floor and at the very end of the corridor. The room was incredibly tiny, so small that there was literally no place to store our luggage. In the end we had to stack our suitcases on top of each other in the middle of the room, and then slide around the cases to get to the beds. At night, the room was airless and very warm and we all commented on how badly we slept because of it.

To top it off, when we tried to have a shower in the bathroom, the cold water tap in the bath was broken, meaning that only scolding hot water came out of the mixer top controlling both the shower and the bath. We phoned to reception to report the fault and a nice lady came to see if she could fix the tap for us, but she confirmed that the tap was indeed faulty, but that unfortunately the hotel maintenance team was away for the next two days, and so the broken tap couldn't be fixed during our stay.

Ten minutes later, the hotel management called to say that due to there being no bath or shower facilities in our room, they would offer to move us to the only other available room in the hotel, but that it would be even smaller than the room we were currently staying in. Alternatively, the management said that we could stay in our present room with the broken taps and instead all walk down to the basement area to use the showers in the hotel gym. For this inconvenience, the hotel would offer us a 20% refund on our stay, but no more.

I'm sorry, but in this day and age, this is simply not good enough! The stay at the hotel had been booked as a special weekend away for the family, to celebrate one of our birthdays. We do not want to have to 'slum-it' and be carting a change of clothing down four floors of stairs to have a wash and get ready in the communal changing rooms, before we go out for our evening meal and then again before we go down for breakfast in the morning.

If a 20% refund for a ruined weekend is EMA Yew Lodge's idea of acceptable customer service, for such a shoddy hotel experience, then I can only suggest that people stay at one of the other hotels in the area.

Do not stay at this run-down hotel. You have been warned!

So the rooms are clean, and spacious but the beds aren’t very comfortable and quite small to say we upgraded our room.

The food in the Marco Pierre White both for the evening meal and breakfast was exceptional and cannot be faulted. The only downside is that live music started at 8pm and whilst he was good, it was far too loud which made it impossible to have a conversation during dinner. Staff did ask for it to be turned down, but it made no difference. Think the singer thought he was playing at an arena not an intimate restaurant.

The spa treatments were unfortunately not good and a let down. Treatment rooms were cold, the music kept stopping (same both days) and the back massage was hardly a massage at all despite asking for it to be firm. The scalp massage was better but again not great for the price. Both therapist felt very new to the job.

Overall I wouldn’t visit the spa or the hotel again but would definitely return to the restaurant.

My 11 year old daughter had her school trip cancelled due to covid so I said I'd take her for a hotel stay with breakfast and spa. Check in was straightforward and everything was organised to be covid safe, perfect.
We had the chance to upgrade our room so did this for £5 and had an executive double. It was clean and spacious and the bed was wonderfully comfortable.
Reeds Spa is amazing! Sadly no ice for the sauna but it's clean with jacuzzi, steam room, good size pool and we really enjoyed ourselves for several hours. It was my daughter's first spa visit and she really loved it.
As it was such a beautiful evening we had bread and olives on the terrace before our evening meal, really enjoyed that too, with (an overpriced, as you'd expect from any hotel bar) glass of wine.
The restaurant wasn't much more than OK. The food we had was very basic and not that well seasoned, although my daughter said the pizza was good. She almost didn't get to finish it however, as waiting staff hovered around and tried to take her plate while we still eating. Maybe they were in a rush for tables. As well as being very pricey for bog standard food, they added nearly £5 onto the bill automatically for a tip. Bit of a liberty because the service and food weren't that great. We ordered a sundae much later on via room service, but what we got was 3 tiny scoops of ice cream which cost £5.95. Not good!
The room was warm but manageable with the fan and window open, it seemed fairly quiet where we were too.
Breakfast was an enjoyable buffet style with full English or continental available. We also went back and used the spa again before check out and parking was free.
Can't fault the stay overall but would recommend popping off site for an evening meal, there seemed to be plenty of eateries down the road within walking distance, which have better reviews than the hotel restaurant, and would probably cost half as much. If we stay again, very likely, we will book a table in the village for our tea.

First I will say that I have had a number of visits to this hotel so as a hotel I would expect it to have been as good as it always has been. The reason for staying is for the HiFi show that takes place every year at the other Hotel across the road and this year would have been no exception if the show had not been cancelled. So why am I writing this review, well I tried to get a refund for my two nights stay, explaining that the show had been postponed and will take place when all this virus scare was over, the response was hard cheese, it was a non transferable booking and so no refund. Under normal circumstances I would not have argued with that but a regular customer, even if it is yearly (I live some 120 miles away) the postponement of a nearby event I would have hoped a better response than it was policy. So I will not be stay there when the show comes back nor all the subsequent years. Note the Kegworth hotel and conference centre where the event was to take place were happy to take the show postponement, that is were I will stay from now on

Dear Jessica/Robert K I'm sorry you felt the need to give us a 1 star review, especially when you have stayed here before and know that we are not worthy of this. You are incorrect, we do not have a hard cheese approach to booking. Your event has been postponed and as such we would have happily postponed your booking, if you didn't have a date at the time you cancelled we had a holding date for bookings to move to until their event is re-confirmed. Although we too have bills and staff to pay we fully appreciate this is not anyone un the UKs fault and we are all suffering as a nation and want to assist out guests the best we can. Please feel free to call the sales office again and if you do want to move your booking to a holding date we would be more than happy to do this. Best wishes Yvonne Hyde General Manager

This was my first spa break and I'll be honest I was a little sceptical as pampering isnt normally my thing but nethertheless i thought I'd give it a try.

I was so amazed at how lovely the spa facilities were, so clean and well organised so that it was never overcrowded, the jacuzzi was my particular favourite part but theres also the pool, steamroom and sauna.

We also had a massage and nails done as part of the spa package and both were great.

Afternoon tea was very tasty, we had various different tasting sandwiches which were really fresh as well as very tasty cakes and cream and jam scones.

The hotel itself was faultless, all the staff at the hotel were so lovely and helpful, they made you feel so welcome, inparticilar we would like to mention Charlotte (from the restaurant) as she was the first person we spoke to at the hotel and straight away on first impressions we really liked the way she went out of her way constantly to satisfy our requirements, this lady is an asset to the team, she works so hard and always has a smile on her face.

Marco's restaurant was quite busy when we arrived at 8pm but that shows how popular it is, we were well greeted and seated with no problems and offered drinks straight away, we decided to test the cocktails and would recommend the daiquiri, whisky sour, mojito and strawberry daiquiri.

We had a 2 course meal included in our package so we ordered calamari and brushetta for starters and steak and chicken milanese for main, now my boyfriend is very particular about how his steak is cooked and the chef got this spot on first time! All the food we sampled was delicious even the buffet breakfast the following morning.

Just a tip, if you book direct with the hotel the car parking is included in the price otherwise it is £8.00 per day.

We should highly recommend this hotel and the spa package as well as the afternoon tea, the only bad thing was that we had to go home but we will be back.

Thank you to everyone for making my boyfriends birthday treat so special, see you again soon.

Firstly of all the staff need to be mentioned for the faultless service they provide and how friendly they are. Every single employee we crossed paths with acknowledged us with a “hello” & smile.

The hotel itself is spotless. The reception area smells clean and the cleanliness continued throughout the hotel. We were on the third floor and our room was really quiet, we never heard a another person or noise from outside.

We ate in the Italian restaurant. The high standards continued here too, from the quality of the food, to hospitality of the staff. Breakfast on both mornings was spot on, good quality and plenty of choice.

Attention to detail in this hotel is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. We removed the bulb from the bedside lamp to deter our toddler from playing with it. Later on that evening the Maintenance Man knocked the door asking if we required a new bulb, Very conscientious!

Thanks for a nice stay.
