Detailed Reviews
We stopped over at the Melbourne View Hotel for one night to break up a long drive from Cornwall to Fife.
When booking I was pleasantly surprised to see that they could accommodate my whole family of two adults and three kids in one room, which meant it was very cost effective.
We arrived much later than planned due to traffic, but the owner was waiting for us and was happy to have a chat, show us round and recommend local places to get a meal.
The hotel itself is very clean, decorated beautifully and all covid guidelines were adhered to by all staff. The room was comfortable and clean.
We didn’t use the grounds but they looked very well maintained and would be a lovely spot to have a drink on a summer evening.
The hotel sits under the East Midlands flight path, but to be honest, after the first few planes flew over we stopped noticing them and they didn’t disturb our sleep at all, despite having the windows open all night due to the very hot weather.
I’m so pleased that we opted to stay here instead of a faceless Premier Inn or similar, it’s a lovely place we’d highly recommend and would definitely stay at again.

Have now visited this newly opened coffee shop twice and have to say it is a delightful experience. The staff are very friendly and efficient, and we felt very safe in these times of social distancing with plenty of hand sanitiser available and the staff cleaning thoroughly after each guest. The whole ambiance was quiet and calm the view is great. Home made food and good coffee, we will be back.

Hotel room/bed was very comfy and we requested breakfast early which was not a problem. The owner Steve, could not have been more friendly and helpful. The Hotel is situated off a fast road with no footpaths (not nice for walking) and he kindly dropped us off in Melbourne for dinner and also dropped me and our bags off at the race track. This was my partner's second visit to this hotel and we would definitely return.

Very nervous how this would go It was so cheap for the whole day compared to the bigger hotels The package they offered was amazing Can’t fault anything!! And the food was amazing. Hog roast for supper at night was WOW. THE ROOMS ARE LOVELY. Very comfy and look over the grounds towards breedon hill.
Everything was very organised- the day was beautiful and casual just like the very happy couple wanted.
Perfect. Perfect setting. Perfect decoration and normal priced bar.
Recommend??? Of course!!!

We stopped here overnight before flying from East Midlands Airport.
Everything was absolutely spot on from the moment we checked in, until the time we checked out.
The views across the countryside are stunning.
With it being close to the airport, you expect a little noise as its on the flightpath BUT after a few have gone over, you don't really notice .
The room was clean, tidy and very comfortable, only 1 TINY moan, the 1 we had, had a sloped ceiling, so you could bump your head if not careful .
The breakfast was amazing and the staff made it better by cooking what you wanted. By that I mean one of my daughters is extremely fussy and wanted eggs, she asked how they did them and was told straight away " however you want them" and not just "boiled, fried etc".
Made to feel welcome from start to finish.

4 of us went to the coffee shop today for the first time and were greeted by lovely staff. The cafe is spotless and attention to cleanliness and detail is very evident.
Coffee was hot and great and our food was presented well and so tasty.
Such a great experience with the most friendly staff who made us so welcome.
We will be back!

Just writing this off the back of my daughters wedding weekend which went really smoothly and was so enjoyable.
Most of the wedding party stayed at the venue at least one night, and the quality of the rooms is high.
The venue caters for indoor or outdoor weddings, we were so fortunate with weather and the outdoor setting against the backdrop of the countryside made for exceptional photographs right there. The function suite indoors was beautifully set up, the bride was given lots of flexibility in the arrangements and it provided an intimate venue for our special celebration.
The bar stocks a good selection of drinks at quite reasonable prices.
Thanks to Trudy and team for your attentiveness and service on the day.
I’d highly recommended this venue for a wedding.

Trudy your level of unprofessionalism to my sisters wedding party over two days was unbelievable. You single handedly tried at every opportunity to undermine and ruin my sisters wedding. We checked in the day before the wedding and it was game on for you. Everything we asked of you was met with hostility. You failed to remember you had been paid a large amount of money for your service. You failed to acknowledge all weddings are unique and you should apply your experience to enhance the vision. You were rude, abrupt and dismissive.
There was an unfortunate incident during the ceremony. The wedding party took control to manage the incident and did this very well. Trudy you failed to provide a first aid trained staff to help manage the incident. Following the incident You tried to end my sisters wedding without consulting the wedding party. You then went on to speak to quite a few guests stating the bride had caused the incident due to turning up late.
For the above reasons I would not recommend this place to anyone.

With regard to your recent review, I am more than happy to provide a full response on any issues your sister and husband encountered at their Wedding. In reply to your comments the incident you mentioned was in relation to the Celebrant collapsing and fracturing her nose on her fall. This was due to the fact that the Ceremony did not commence until 3.08pm. The time agreed to commence the Ceremony was actually 2pm. At no point was I, or any other member of staff, advised of any delay. Having managed over 300 weddings, although it is tradition and acceptable for the Bride to be slightly late the amount of time lapse was extreme and no plans could be put in place to mitigate for this happening. You were consulted on a number of occasions by myself whether your sister was ready. In fact at 1.30pm I was advised that the Bride only had her dress to put on, which would not have taken the ceremony past the 2pm start time. Despite this I did note that you did not go into the room until 1.50pm. However, yet again I was not advised of any delay. I also wanted to confirm, that following tests carried out by the hospital on the Celebrant, I was advised that the collapse had been a result of extreme sun exposure and dehydration. Had the ceremony started at 2pm this situation would have been avoided. In addition, a number of my staff also suffered headaches caused by the significant delay. As a Co-Owner it is my responsibility to ensure that all guests, staff and suppliers are kept safe and well on the premises. Clearly this was compromised because of the very long delay which is not acceptable. With regard to having a trained person present this was the case as one of my team is a trained and practising nurse. The Celebrants husband was also in attendance and actually advised his wife that we were extremely helpful and kind. This was communicated in an email to me the following day. I can also clearly state that at no point did I try to end the service. To the contrary, in an attempt to bring the celebration back on track I did in fact consult with yourself about bringing the drinks out. As a business we are responsible to adhere to a variety of laws and legislations, including licensing and insurance conditions. Unfortunately, there was little regard or respect for this which was observed throughout the day. Garden furniture was moved without consent breaking licensing conditions. Some guests were found consuming their own alcohol on the premises which is also clearly noted in our Terms & Conditions. When approached by the other Owner (my husband) he was accused of being ‘micro aggressive’ when he was legally entitled to have the discussion. It was also brought to my attention that a dog had been kept in a bedroom for 2 nights again without consent as pets are not permitted. This resulted in my team having to carry out a full deep clean to ensure that no hairs remained so future guests who may have an allergy were not ill. Musicians also arrived without prior notice. Consequently, the relevant paperwork for insurance purposes could not be obtained neither the limiter used being a condition of our entertainment licence. Given all of the above, myself and my staff went above and beyond to make the day as special as we could given what was not of our making.

Popped into day for lunch with a friend, absolutely loved it.
Very warm welcome, very professional with all the covid measures, well spaced out and a nice atmosphere.
Spotlessly clean.
Staff were so great and food was so lovely. Great little place for a nice lunch, they have seating outside to with lovely views
Just a suggestion but perhaps a larger sign coming from Donington to advertise tge cafe?
We heard word of mouth and would be a shame for people to miss it.
Service and food 10/10

The venue was beyond amazing, out guests were nothing but impressed by the venue and the staff. The food was amazing , drinks prices were so reasonable … (always an important part!!) people were so impressed they didn’t have to pay over the odds for their alcohol.
the attentiveness of the staff was 100% all day. Every stress I had about a band we booked Trudy was reassuring and kept me calm!
The layout was amazing .. all I did was put the place card names out and a few sweets , everything else was just perfect.
The phone calls and messages about the day have been so complimentary. Myself and my husband can not praise this venue enough. It was all we planned and more. Trudy looked after myself and the bridal party all day, took care of all our questions leading up to the big day.
The setting outside was just beautiful 😍 even the breakfast the following morning was laid out beautifully.
We are just still on cloud nine as it was just all we wished for and more.
I would tell anyone to book this venue for their wedding. The rooms we stayed in were beautiful, I can’t do the Melbourne View justice with this review.
Definitely more than five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
The afternoon tea was perfect for a hot summers day and the BBQ was just fantastic in the evening x
Trudy was a truly brilliant host, nothing was too much trouble and her advice for what to include for the day was spot on. Please please book you wedding here, we’ve been to a few weddings else where and although I may be biased, this was the best ever !!
