This is by far one of the best retreats with private hot tub that I have visited. The attention to finer details is exquisite throughout the property. Stayed in the The Hay Loft and this room has lots of nice touches that you will discover during your stay, and make you think wow! The decor is romantic, the furniture very nice and comfortable, the bed amazing, the pillows the most comfortable I have ever laid my head. The walk in shower and huge stand-alone bath in the main bathroom add to the luxury. Outside and downstairs to the The Hay Loft’s private area, wow again. The private hot tub and garden area are very spacious which is supported by the fantastic little lodge, that has its own bar, seating area, tea and coffe making facilities, board games, TV, toilet with walk in shower room, private sauna. You are also provided with slippers and robes for the main room and downstairs robes for the lodge and outdoor space. The full English breakfast is all made up of locally sourced produce, and was cooked to perfection. Dannah farm is located in a remote very peaceful area, with many birds and wildlife around. I cannot wait to visit again to stay at The Granary room opposite The Hay Loft. I was given the opportunity of a sneak peak before checking out and OMG! I look forward to staying there.
The staff are very helpful and attentive. Be sure to try the apple juice with the full English including delicious black pudding if you can.

We’ve travelled all over the world and didn’t realise that this and Joan’s hospitality was right here on our doorstep. We were met by the owner Joan who was so lovely, kind and unassuming She offered us freshy brewed coffee that was brought to our studio The studio hideaway was gorgeous, clean and dust free. Fully stocked bar and fridge, real attention to detail complimentary bottled water and snacks. Amazing breakfast we had fruit and the full English . The hot tub was clean and well maintained Joan gave us a demo of how to operate it safely. We had a lovely walk through the grounds and a great local meal at Armandos. We’ve told all our friends and family about it. Only sad thing is we wished we’d known about this gem sooner

This was our 4th visit to our very special place for a very special occasion- our mini moon! Having visited Dannah for our first weekend away together we knew this is where we wanted to go straight after our wedding! As usual we had a lovely welcome from Joan and the girls. This time we stayed in the Hayloft which was just paradise. With the familiar Dannah wow factor in the room this continued outside in our own exclusive spa cabin which housed a sauna, shower room, lounge area and enormous hot tub. After a fabulous nights sleep in the incredible comfy bed, breakfast didn’t disappoint as we knew it wouldn’t! Beautifully fresh, local ingredients and the amazing home pressed apple juice. What made our mini moon even more perfect was the snow!! Sat in the hot tub with snow falling around us was what movies are made of! The perfect location for a return visit to Chatsworth- this time we experienced the Christmas markets which was magical. What we love about Dannah is that you are left to your own devices and never disturbed but you only have to pick up the phone if you need anything from more luxurious fluffy towels to extra milk/mini bar supplies. We ended up staying an extra night due to the snow which was just meant to be! On departure we were given a lovely wedding gift and card which was so kind. Thank you Joan,Amanda and the rest of the lovely staff. We will see you very soon - Mr & Mrs Hollingsworth ❤️

I booked to stay here for a luxury experience as it was my first time having a break away from mt children in 5 years, unfortunately luxury was not what I received and had to leave a day early because of the poor standard of cleanliness in my suite. I stayed in the secret hide out and it was very dusty with plenty of cobwebs through out, the bathroom also had lots of black mould and lime scale around the tiles and through out the shower system. There was also rust running down the wall from the metal in shower. They described the shower as a shower with power jets, these couldn’t be used because the shower tray would soon overflow in seconds so I had to turn the power of the shower right down. I bought the issues to the owners attention and she said that she’d get her cleaners to come in and clean it for me but I declined this as I just didn’t feel comfortable staying there and for the price they charge I would certainly not expect to be faced with the issues I had. I told the owner I’d like to leave and she offered me one full nights refund (I did book for two) the owner wasn’t apologetic at all, I don’t think I even got a sorry from her! I did have the breakfast hamper in the morning, I must say the pastries I was bought were really yummy, and I can say the same for the home made cakes that were brought to me on arrival. I’d say the were the best bits of my trip. Other than that, it was very standard/poor and I certainly wouldn’t say the place is a 5 star accommodation and the price they charge is ridiculous for what you get, a big rip off! Oh and forgot to mention, they had all rubbish and an old dirty soggy rug that had been left outside in their parking area too. So disappointing, my trip was ruined and I probably won’t get a break like that to myself again for another 5 years. Thanks Dannah farm!

Response from Joan Slack, Owner at Dannah Farm Country House
Responded 8 Apr 2023
Oh dear, I was really upset to see the comments in this review and do feel it necessary to put them in some kind of context. This lady rang in the early afternoon of the day she was due to arrive asking if she could possibly bring her two five year old children with her. Having dropped them off she was suffering from a severe case of "Mummy Guilt"she told me. Unfortunately it wasn't possible as there is no space in The Studio for extra beds. (As it is the Easter holidays the family accommodation we have was already booked). The lady duly arrived and seemed very upset that her children were not with her. Having had children and grandchildren of my own I did understand and tried to reassure her. After she had registered I took her up to The Studio with a welcome tray, a hot drink and cakes. I explained about the options for breakfast and later that evening she rang down to ask for a breakfast hamper in her room the following morning. I heard nothing more until I rang at the agreed time to tell her the hamper was about to be delivered. She asked to speak to me about certain issues she had with the accommodation. After breakfast, which I am delighted to see she really enjoyed, I went up to see her and she explained the problems. Firstly one (tiny) spider, sat in the corner of the ceiling of the downstairs sitting room had run its silk along one of the beams. Next she pointed out there was a little dust on the back of one of the wrought iron steps leading up into the bedroom. We then went into the shower room where, using the torch on her phone, I was shown the limescale and the hose - it was impossible to see any issues with the hose without the torch. The grout in the shower room definitely needs some attention and I will deal with that ASAP. The limescale on the shower head has been removed, I confess it had been overlooked - my fault entirely. We do try really hard to make our guests stays perfect but sometimes, as in this instance, we don't quite manage it. Now to the rug in the car park. Again, I cannot unfortunately blame anyone else! We are making some storage alterations in the buildings and as I cleaned out a shed just before the holidays I threw out the offending rug. It was late, I was tired and very dirty .....and I promptly forgot about it!!! So, back to the issues in question. When I went to speak to this lady I did apologise and immediately offered to rectify any problems she had with the accommodation . It very soon became obvious that this wasn't what she was looking for, preferring to leave. The room had been booked on an offer with £100 off a second nights stay, but I offered to refund a full night. This made the cost of the stay £140.00 in total. I'm not sure what else I could have done. I really feel that much of the problem began way back before she arrived at Dannah - having come away without her children - she was extremely upset and anxious to get back to them. A suite with a private hot tub, breakfast taken to the room, tea/coffee and home made cake on arrival and the contents of the welcome box in the room - crisps, chocolate, etc., for a total cost of £140 seems not quite the rip off described, although I have no hesitation in genuinely apologising for the issues found.

We stayed here recently for our ‘minimoon’ and what can I say the best accommodation we have ever stayed in.
Everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect. Greeted upon arrival and shown to our Granary suite, were talked through the amenities and how to use the hot tub etc.
The suite itself is huge set over 2 floors with 2 bathrooms on both levels and then private outdoor area with seating and the hot tub ready to go. Good sized fridge that is stocked (chargeable items) also small freezer compartment for ice.
Breakfast is delicious and catered to my gluten free requirements no problem.
We had actually made reservations to eat out on the Saturday but ended up cancelling and ordering a takeaway as we didn’t want to leave the suite! For anyone who likes a curry we ordered from Anila and it was the best curry we have ever had! All plates/cutlery are in the room for use if ordering in.
Will definitely be returning!

2nd visit to this lovely farm in 3 weeks. everything here is fantastic, your host Joan gives you a very warm welcome, Jo looks after you at breakfast. The venue is remote but not isolated, the surrounding views are magnificent. The accommodation is of a superb standard, 2 different rooms, both beds extremely comfortable, the sky is black and the area is silent you sleep like the proverbial log. The experience is boosted by hot tubs /Jacuzzis attached to your room, nothing like that to make you unwind fully. The breakfast is something else, all local produce and I challenge anyone to find better Black Pudding, all butcher meat from local butcher in Belper, Milk from neighbouring farm, Eggs from another neighbouring farm. etc I would highly recommend a visit to this establishment and enjoy all it has to offer.

My main complaint is that due to a power cut the accommodation and hot tub was unusable for much of our stay, and the owner wouldn't give compensation nor offered any kind of goodwill gesture. She said that if she gets money back from her insurance she will pass it on to me. It wasn't her fault but it wasn't my fault either, and I would have expected something from her to recognise this, rather than just say "I can't do anything about a power cut". This was an expensive treat for me, the most money I've spent on accommodation. I booked two nights so that we'd have a full day to enjoy the hot tub in daylight, but it was too cold during daylight hours. We were hoping to use the hot tub after breakfast on the last morning but breakfast took so long to be served that there wasn't time. If the power had been working, I'd say that the accommodation was comfortable but small and lacking in daylight for the price. We stayed in the studio hideaway. Downstairs had one window in the back door but because of the configuration of the L shaped room it was very dark in the main lounge area. During the power cut I couldn't even find things in the room it was so dark.

My partner and I recently enjoyed a two-night stay in the Hayloft Suite and it was absolutely wonderful. The first thing that caught our attention was the incredible hand made bed, the craftsman ship that has gone in to creating this bed is outstanding. The bed was also extremely comfy that made falling asleep each night a dream!
I must also put a special mention to Amanda, who was not only incredibly accommodating but also extremely polite. She went out of her way to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible.
One of the highlights of our visit was the amazing breakfast that was served each morning. The food was delicious, and cooked to perfection. My partner had the full English, and I opted for the vegetarian option. The meat for the full English was locally sourced, and the Parsnip roulade on the vegetarian breakfast was the most delicious treat! I do also believe the bread is bakes fresh, and you can tell! Every part of the breakfast is pure luxury!
The "Secret Garden" as we called it, where our hot tub and Sauna were located was utterly tranquil. The hot tub was nestles in a secluded corner of the garden, surrounded by beautiful landscape. The little lodge with the sauna in was perfect, and we spent every evening in here.
We also need to mention Spice, the farm cat! We fell in love with this little fella, and spent a lot of our mornings fussing Spice! (We tried to get him in the garden but he was having none of it haha)
I must mention, the roads to the country house are very small country roads, and there are some really nasty pot holes, so please drive carefully!
Thank you, to all involved in making our stay so welcoming and relaxing, and we will be back hopefully for my 29th Birthday in February!! Ellis and Darren x

Had the most wonderful relaxing nights stay. We stayed in the Chatsworth Suite with our son and small dog. We were greeted with a lovely welcome and the offer of hot drinks and cakes which were very appreciated. There were also facilities in the room to make drinks and a very much appreciated welcome hamper with a selection of goodies. Upstairs is the master bedroom with the most comfortable bed. I can honestly say that it was the best nights sleep I have had for a long time. At night the farm is completely dark and quiet. Downstairs is a separate twin room and bathroom and a dining area and lounge. You really couldn't ask for more. The rooms are very well presented and clean. The breakfast was the best we have had with an amazing selection. Well done to the owners and I would love to come back and visit again. Was perfect for recuperating after an operation.

Oh my! I am here right now, having stayed night one of our 3 night stay and had to write a review to say how superb this place is. From the warm welcome when we arrived slightly later than expected to the spotlessly clean room, this place is amazing We are staying g in the hay loft and it is the most beautiful room ever with the biggest bed ever which is super comfy The room is so clean considering how many small items and beams there are in it The bathroom is snuggly warm all the time and the shower is brilliant The sauna cabin is also a lovely little hide away where you can sit and admire the countryside whilst having a glass of something lovely in the hot tub or after hot sauna The breakfast too is incredible too with tasty well cooked local produce. So happy to have found this place and can’t wait to enjoy our next 2 days
