Lovely little hideaway, my wife and I booked the chatsworth suite and secret garden for a 2 night break. Just what we needed, we both have stressful jobs and I've been going through cancer treatment, our friends and family had spoilt us with a collection to get us away and we booked this because it looked ideal. The room was amazing with a humongous 4 poster bed and the secret garden was great to relax and have a drink in the hot tub. Staff couldn't do enough for us, will definitely be going back....

A great place to relax and unwind. Such a wonderful spot and a homely feel for a much needed break. Watching the sunset from the hot tub was excellent. And the following morning more breakfast choice you can ever ask for.

I can highly recommend coming here for a luxury stay. We were looked after on our arrival and every morning during breakfast. The chef makes the most wonderful cooked breakfast and was also friendly. Everyone was keen to help us and ensure we had everything we needed. The room we stayed in (The Hay loft spa suite) had everything we needed and was lovely and clean plus we had an amazing private spa chalet with sauna and outdoor hot tub. We stayed two nights but wished we could stay longer. Amazing stay - would love to come again. Thank you Dannah Farm country house.

Had the most wonderful relaxing nights stay. We stayed in the Chatsworth Suite with our son and small dog. We were greeted with a lovely welcome and the offer of hot drinks and cakes which were very appreciated. There were also facilities in the room to make drinks and a very much appreciated welcome hamper with a selection of goodies. Upstairs is the master bedroom with the most comfortable bed. I can honestly say that it was the best nights sleep I have had for a long time. At night the farm is completely dark and quiet. Downstairs is a separate twin room and bathroom and a dining area and lounge. You really couldn't ask for more. The rooms are very well presented and clean. The breakfast was the best we have had with an amazing selection. Well done to the owners and I would love to come back and visit again. Was perfect for recuperating after an operation.

I don’t usually do reviews, this is my first one! We stayed at Dannah Farm last week and had the most amazing couple of days just chilling and lazing around. The room was warm, cosy and spotless, breakfast was delicious, there was a vegetarian version for me, it kept us going all day. The private hot tub was the icing on the cake!

We are more used to city breaks than stays in the country but found this place genuinely fantastic! For the price of a decent, standard city center double room with no parking or breakfast we stayed in the Studio Hideaway (although we did use the late availability offer) and had our own lounge area and bedroom joined by a spiral staircase. We had a shower room (which in our experience looked clean to the point of looking freshly grouted) and private patio with its own hot tub (difficult to get in the city without a mortgage to go with it 😉). Spa days now a days seem so expensive and that’s before you add on overnight accommodation, so this was a great alternative! The staff were great, not too intrusive but there if needed. The breakfast, while somewhat traditional, was the best we have ever had! No need for Lunch. We even had a pheasant join us (through the window at least). We did have to drive to get dinner but found a nice pub nearby that didn’t even add on a service charge!!! Overall, a great experience, we will return, and we will recommend to our friends.

I booked to stay here for a luxury experience as it was my first time having a break away from mt children in 5 years, unfortunately luxury was not what I received and had to leave a day early because of the poor standard of cleanliness in my suite. I stayed in the secret hide out and it was very dusty with plenty of cobwebs through out, the bathroom also had lots of black mould and lime scale around the tiles and through out the shower system. There was also rust running down the wall from the metal in shower. They described the shower as a shower with power jets, these couldn’t be used because the shower tray would soon overflow in seconds so I had to turn the power of the shower right down. I bought the issues to the owners attention and she said that she’d get her cleaners to come in and clean it for me but I declined this as I just didn’t feel comfortable staying there and for the price they charge I would certainly not expect to be faced with the issues I had. I told the owner I’d like to leave and she offered me one full nights refund (I did book for two) the owner wasn’t apologetic at all, I don’t think I even got a sorry from her! I did have the breakfast hamper in the morning, I must say the pastries I was bought were really yummy, and I can say the same for the home made cakes that were brought to me on arrival. I’d say the were the best bits of my trip. Other than that, it was very standard/poor and I certainly wouldn’t say the place is a 5 star accommodation and the price they charge is ridiculous for what you get, a big rip off! Oh and forgot to mention, they had all rubbish and an old dirty soggy rug that had been left outside in their parking area too. So disappointing, my trip was ruined and I probably won’t get a break like that to myself again for another 5 years. Thanks Dannah farm!

Response from Joan Slack, Owner at Dannah Farm Country House
Responded 8 Apr 2023
Oh dear, I was really upset to see the comments in this review and do feel it necessary to put them in some kind of context. This lady rang in the early afternoon of the day she was due to arrive asking if she could possibly bring her two five year old children with her. Having dropped them off she was suffering from a severe case of "Mummy Guilt"she told me. Unfortunately it wasn't possible as there is no space in The Studio for extra beds. (As it is the Easter holidays the family accommodation we have was already booked). The lady duly arrived and seemed very upset that her children were not with her. Having had children and grandchildren of my own I did understand and tried to reassure her. After she had registered I took her up to The Studio with a welcome tray, a hot drink and cakes. I explained about the options for breakfast and later that evening she rang down to ask for a breakfast hamper in her room the following morning. I heard nothing more until I rang at the agreed time to tell her the hamper was about to be delivered. She asked to speak to me about certain issues she had with the accommodation. After breakfast, which I am delighted to see she really enjoyed, I went up to see her and she explained the problems. Firstly one (tiny) spider, sat in the corner of the ceiling of the downstairs sitting room had run its silk along one of the beams. Next she pointed out there was a little dust on the back of one of the wrought iron steps leading up into the bedroom. We then went into the shower room where, using the torch on her phone, I was shown the limescale and the hose - it was impossible to see any issues with the hose without the torch. The grout in the shower room definitely needs some attention and I will deal with that ASAP. The limescale on the shower head has been removed, I confess it had been overlooked - my fault entirely. We do try really hard to make our guests stays perfect but sometimes, as in this instance, we don't quite manage it. Now to the rug in the car park. Again, I cannot unfortunately blame anyone else! We are making some storage alterations in the buildings and as I cleaned out a shed just before the holidays I threw out the offending rug. It was late, I was tired and very dirty .....and I promptly forgot about it!!! So, back to the issues in question. When I went to speak to this lady I did apologise and immediately offered to rectify any problems she had with the accommodation . It very soon became obvious that this wasn't what she was looking for, preferring to leave. The room had been booked on an offer with £100 off a second nights stay, but I offered to refund a full night. This made the cost of the stay £140.00 in total. I'm not sure what else I could have done. I really feel that much of the problem began way back before she arrived at Dannah - having come away without her children - she was extremely upset and anxious to get back to them. A suite with a private hot tub, breakfast taken to the room, tea/coffee and home made cake on arrival and the contents of the welcome box in the room - crisps, chocolate, etc., for a total cost of £140 seems not quite the rip off described, although I have no hesitation in genuinely apologising for the issues found.

2nd visit to this lovely farm in 3 weeks. everything here is fantastic, your host Joan gives you a very warm welcome, Jo looks after you at breakfast. The venue is remote but not isolated, the surrounding views are magnificent. The accommodation is of a superb standard, 2 different rooms, both beds extremely comfortable, the sky is black and the area is silent you sleep like the proverbial log. The experience is boosted by hot tubs /Jacuzzis attached to your room, nothing like that to make you unwind fully. The breakfast is something else, all local produce and I challenge anyone to find better Black Pudding, all butcher meat from local butcher in Belper, Milk from neighbouring farm, Eggs from another neighbouring farm. etc I would highly recommend a visit to this establishment and enjoy all it has to offer.
