Visited pub today at 1pm. Was told the place was closing in 15 minutes. What a joke. Can't wait for the new landlord to take over, January? Meanwhile best avoid the place gone downhill badly was a nice village pub.
The place seems deserted. Where have the locals gone? No longer a local pub. However I understand that new owner is due at end of October 18, let's hope the place can once again become a village pub serving the village with good atmosphere, beer and food on a regular basis and…
Quiet (when we visited) local pub. Good real ale selection, 3 hand pumps. Friendly staff and locals. Best selection of real beer compared to the George and horse & jockey in Tideswell. Dogs welcome but only at the front bar.
Popped in for a drink, is £10 for 2 glasses of wine expensive in a place like this? The dog was only allowed in one room which was tiny, seated no more than 6 people comfortably. The only benefit was at least it had wifi.
Our 2nd long weekend visits to Tideswell. The Star Inn is the best of the 3 pubs on offer in the village. Good choice of beer and one of the best (and biggest!) Sunday roasts we have had. Highly recommend.
"Sunday Roasts excellent value and available until 8pm"
"The dining room at the back of the bar was very pleasant"
"did not use hotel only the bar"
"Did not stay in the inn"
"we had the large room, normally for 2 adults and 1 child, but as our children are quite young they topped and tailed"
