Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Originally looking for an Airbnb in the area and came across the Rose & Crown by chance. What a gem. Lovely comfortable room, very friendly staff who were always there to help and my goodness, the food! Breakfast was an absolute 5* delight and matched by the dining menu. Two EV charging points at very good rates was the icing on the cake. Looking at the collection of awards they have I’m clearly not alone in being impressed Would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you

Wow this pub/hotel does not disappoint ❤️ The staff are simply amazing; it’s a long time since I have stayed anywhere where I have not been able to fault anything. Genuinely dog friendly, EV charging, fantastic ambience, great food (the porridge is amazing) and nothing was too much trouble. I could have easy stayed longer!

We were passing through the area whilst on holiday and stopped for a roast dinner. We'd called ahead and knew there were no tables in the restaurant but planned to sit in the bar or garden with our dog. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the manager, Laura, and to our surprise a table was available indoors. We both had roast beef and it was delicious with a hearty portion size. Honestly, so yummy! But what left me so impressed, and promoted me leaving this review (something I rarely do) was the service. The staff seemed to be working hard and were very busy but were polite and friendly. Without asking they brought water for our dog and gave her lots of fuss when she arrived. Special shout out to Laura who seemed to realise our dog (Clara the brown cocker spaniel) was having a tough time with her social skills and in turn, was stressing us out as we worried about her annoying the other diners. She kindly gave us some off cuts of beef to bribe our dog into submission and it really helped. And later when she barked at another dog walking past, Laura calmly said "oh and that's Clara" as if there were no cares in the world. Those little touches of kindness made our meal less stressful and we were so grateful 🙏

This was pretty much a perfect visit. Two nights in our very comfy room. Lots of space, a big bathroom with fantastic (huge) walk in shower, and a bath and all the toiletries we needed. The breakfasts were simply fantastic - great choice and all of it beautifully cooked, plus a buffet table with fruit, cereals, breads and pastries. There was more than enough to carry us through a day of walking and on to dinner which was again, excellent. Lots of choice including some brilliantly executed old favourites such as the fish pie (strongly recommended). One tiny quibble - occasionally the chef may take a concept too far. For example, the pulled pork on top of the burger in the bun. Both the burger and the pulled pork were delicious. But together? Nope. The rather sweet and very rich pork dominated. Easily remedied - just ask for the pork to be put separately on the plate and not in with the burger. Also, a note for the R+C - maybe think about getting some new salt sellers? They're all pretty hopeless. But these are tiny quibbles in an otherwise wonderful stay where we were looked after brilliantly by the fab staff. We'll be back!

Having camped locally, we were looking for a nice breakfast. The Rose and Crown was nearby and highly recommended. We arrived just after 9am and welcomed with a smile. We chose our table in the dining room and ordered a full English and an eggs Benedict. Toast arrived and was quickly followed by our order and a pot of tea. The full English was beautifully cooked with good quality butcher sausages, black pudding and bacon with baked beans, hash browns and a very yellow, perfectly cooked egg! The eggs Benedict was served with good bacon but again perfect eggs - still runny but the white cooked! Hollandaise sauce completed the dish. The dining room has a lovely atmosphere and well presented through out. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A little gem in the heart of Norfolk!

Fantastic place to stay. Staff were welcoming, friendly & helpful. Room was a great size, with a comfy bed; a good sized en-suite; hairdryer, tv & fan in the room; really good facilities (nice touch having fresh milk in a mini fridge, on our corridor & fresh cookies in the room) Breakfast was tasty & plentiful. We dined in the restaurant too & the food was really nice. Good sized garden & car park, plus the bonus of 2 EV chargers. Good location.

We had an early dinner and the place was very busy. However there were plenty of willing staff so service was quite efficient and our meal was really good. There was a curry on the menu and one can choose how hot you want it - two of had the curry and it was very good.

Fantastic family restaurant. Large beer garden with a lovely play area to keep children entertained. Always a bonus. Bar service was great, Charly was very good and certainly knows how to pour a good pint. We ordered the Seafood Chowder, Sea Bass linguine absolutely delicious and the children's pasta, nice clean plates. The chocolate cornets went down a treat with the children. Great choice of menu and local ales. All in all lovely staff and a great atmosphere very enjoyable evening.
