Just returned from our stay at White horse lodge. We stay here as it is perfect for visiting friends in nearby Bagby. Well done to the staff for making the hotel so covid secure . Our room 11 was spotless and we were given a generous bag with tea coffee etc. Couldn't fault anything . The staff are friendly and nothing too much trouble. See you again next year.
We recently stayed at the White horse for one night during our Cleveland way walk. We arrived a little bit before check in time to find the doors locked. However, a very friendly girl soon turned up and offered us a drink in the cosy bar whilst we waited for our room to be ready. We got upgraded to the suite which was very nice. Huge comfy bed, very nice walk in shower, huge TV. Everything looked brand new! The same friendly girl rang us a taxi into Thirsk for our evening meal and then served us drinks before bed. The same friendly girl was also serving breakfast the next morning, which wasn't the best but was perfectly edible. In summary, lovely hotel but very under staffed. However, the girl who seemed to do everything to run the hotel worked extremely hard. Someone give her a pay rise! …
Stayed here for a night on our way to the North Yorkshire coast and was pleasantly surprised. A very big car park where we could walk our dog, with great views towards Sutton Bank. Very helpful and friendly staff throughout our stay, and they even phoned us once we had left to say that we had left one of our dog toys in the room and what would we like to do. Stayed in Room 14, which was a great size for the two of us and was extremely good value for the price we paid. The only downside to our stay was that our room had no view and simply looked out across the roof. On the whole though it was a very good stay, and they have put in adequate measures for Covid.
A great place to stay if you travel by car.( It is too far from Thirsk to be a comfortable walk). We had a comfortable room with a nice country view. I felt that with the Corona situation, they encouraged us to take breakfast in our room, which was actually a treat. We ordered breakfast the night before from a generous menu and when it came (exactly on time) it was superb. Staff were consistently helpful and friendly. The car park is big and the location is very quiet but close to a big national park.
For the money it was ok, room could have been cleaner with previous occupants socks still in room. A broken sink plug and poor shower. The bathroom was tiny- in particular the toilet wedged between the wall and shower cubicle - difficult to use as basin blocked it in. We stayed in room 6. Bed very comfy but loud road noise. Very pleasant girl checked us in and out- could not fault her.
