We arrived at Topcliffe on Saturday afternoon and you could see straight away that the staff had the current Covid restrictions sussed and that in turn helped people feel at ease and made things run very smoothly,a lovely location and the room and hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has plush fixtures and fittings,we had lunch, dinner and breakfast here and there were no complaints with any of the food, nicely cooked and generous portions.
We were in the Halo suite which has a beautiful en suite bathroom complete with his and her sinks,a stunning double head walk in shower and a freestanding bath.
Just down the road from the much more famous Crab and Lobster, but this place really deserves more plaudits.

My wife and I have just had a night at The Angel for a night before an off-road experience at Yorkshire Outdoors.
There is plenty of free parking, the rooms are extremely clean, quiet and comfortable with all the extras people like such as biscuits for your cuppa, good quality shower gel, hand wash etc. If you get the weather there's a fantastic large beer garden, and there's a residents lounge also.
The food is delicious, we had a lovely evening meal which was excellent quality and good portions...you certainly won't go hungry!!
The staff were very friendly and were attentive, but not overly fussy. The lady that served breakfast couldn't do enough for us, asking if we wanted top ups for our teapot, toast etc.
Value for money is excellent, and if we're ever in the area we'll be booking there again.
Highly recommended.

We stayed one night as we were on our way between the north and York. The Angel is a gem. The room was not the biggest but it was exceptionally clean and had some lovely touches. We decided to eat in the restaurant and I have to say the steak was one of the best I have ever had. It was also a bargain as the Friday offer is 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine for £29.95. Breakfast was wholesome and plentiful. Lovely fresh local produce and excellent service. I would definately recommend a stay here.

We went for a mid week family meal, on arrival we were promptly shown to our table and offered drinks which arrived promptly. The time to review the menu was just right, didn't feel rushed or left waiting too long. Our food was delivered in good time and was very good indeed. Highly recommend the Angel. Felt very safe after lockdown with alk the correct precautions in place. We will be back. Thanks.

Booked the hotel for my partners birthday and all started out well. We were shown the room by a lovely girl and we thought the rooms were so well presented.
Went out for tea and came back at 11. The bar had literally just closed and I understand that bars have to shut at a certain time but disappointing that we weren't offered at least one drink to take up to our own and charged to our bill.
Unfortunately neither of us got any sleep. The room was absolutely boiling and even with both windows open and a fan it made no difference. The bed was one that could be zipped up in the middle so could act as a double or a twin and it was so uncomfortable. Woke up exceptionally grouchy but looking forward to breakfast.
We ordered full English and a breakfast roll and after a while got confused as to why everyone around us was receiving their breakfast but we hadn't. The waitress proceeded to come and retake our order whilst throwing all the blame on to the chef. We appreciate that with covid things have been difficult so our order being forgot wasn't a big issue although the waitress continued to come over to us and insist it wasn't her fault and it was all the chef which made it quite awkward.
The breakfast came and the full English was great although the breakfast roll was actually a ciabatta and not what was stated on the menu. The bread wasn't very nice and therefore one of us went hungry and went to Gregg's instead.
On leaving the hostess asked if everything had been ok. I did explain about the bed so hopefully they will change things for the next people to stay.
Such a shame as we had been recommended the hotel by some friends and we were really looking forward to it but we have come away disappointed and tired.
On looking at the other reviews most people seem extremely happy with their stay so we can only assume this has been a one off and it is actually a really nice place to stay.

Arrived and was shown our room and it was right near the outdoor fan which was very noisy they kindly moved us to next door again the same noise. The maid approached us and asked if everything was okay and we explained that we’d already asked to be moved but they hadn’t moved us far enough from the fan so she helped sort it….we was given the bridal suite well this seemed more of a disaster the room was dark and dated and we didn’t sleep a wink the heating was on full blast and we couldn’t even open a window. We went down for breakfast at 8am and wasn’t told there was juice & cereal we over heard them telling some other guests where it was.
We will not recommend the Angel and won’t be returning however we can recommend the blue bell (sister accommodation) at arkendale now they are very outstanding and we’ve been there 3 times it’s amazing the only thing I’d say was brilliant about the Angel was the outdoor seating/gardens. The beer was very expensive and the pub down the road was £2 cheaper.

Standard room was very basic, small and with no luxuries, bathroom poor too. Dinner obviously price inflated to allow for a discount - where else would you pay nearly £22 for a cheeseburger with bacon, fries and onion rings, London maybe? Breakfast of poached eggs was dreadful as they were like bullets and inedible. On the upside the staff were lovely and very efficient and the massive beer garden is stunning.

Had a valentines night away at The Angel in Topcliffe near Thirsk. Not our normal choice but clean room, cosy bar, lovely food in the restaurant and great staff. Highly recommended and brilliant value - check out the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast Offer on their website.
If there is one thing that could be improved are the rooms. Paintwork, bathroom all in really good order but some of the furniture is a bit grubby with cup stains and a couple of stains on the carpets but bedding very clean. For what you pay it's still great value.

We'll be back that's for sure.

We stayed for one night in a standard double room which was more that adequate and very clean, even had extra pillows in the wardrobe. The evening meal was a delight, we opted for the special steaks which also came with a bottle of house wine and the value was terrific. The breakfast was one of the best ever, all cooked fresh and arrived in good time, the cold buffet was exceptional and our waitress couldn't have done more. Wonderful stay and we shall be returning.

The Angel saved our weekend after a power cut took out the whole of the village and the pub where we were meant to stay.
Frantically sat in the car at 4pm, googling places nearby, we rang The Angel as it was only 8 miles from our location.
Lucky for us they had one room left and ironically it turned out to be the sister pub to where we were meant to stay.
What a gem.
The car park is huge.
The staff were welcoming and really friendly.
The room was warm and comfortable and very clean.
We ate in the pub and thoroughly enjoyed a 3 course meal and a few drinks in the bar afterwards . Portion sizes were very generous.
Breakfast was very good with a variety of choices and attentive staff.
What could have been a disappointing weekend turned out to be really lovely.
Would recommend this pub for accommodation and for the food.

Couldn't honestly answer this one as I stayed mid-week. However my experience as regards the restaurant was first class and I am sure they would be able to cater for any favourites in terms of a Sunday lunch.

Beds comfortable but rooms small and cramped also expect to be woken by early risers as sound travels through the hotel
