We stayed here for 2 nights, a double room and a family room. On arrival we were pleasantly greeted and taken to our room which was lovely, clean and nicely furnished. Tea, coffee, biscuits were provided. Our first disappointment came when we used the shower, very low water pressure meant the shower was poor, the water from the taps on the WHB was a trickle. Our bed was uncomfortable, I'd suggest replacing the mattress, it really was that bad. The family room was very different, clearly more modern, the shower worked well, no water pressure issues here. The cooked breakfast was fresh and good except for the vegetarian option which was disappointingly lacking contents. After a day of family activities we returned to the hotel at 10:25pm intending to sit down at the small, cosy bar to a couple of relaxing drinks and chat about our day o my to find the bar closed, we rung the bell for assistance but to no avail. When I mentioned this the following morning I was told the bar closed after the last meal and if no one is using it as they didn't see the need to pay staff if no one is using the bar, not only that but they only had a license to 11pm. We wished on hindsight we'd mentioned that we'd like a nightcap when we came back. Breakfast the following day was good, freshly cooked. What we didn't expect was to be told during breakfast ki we were supposed to be out by 10am. They were in a hurry to prepare for lunches. I'd suggest a review of customer service is required.…
True to my word, I returned to The Struan Inn. I'm so glad I found this lovely little gem hidden away in a peaceful corner of Highland Perthshire. The accommodation is exceedingly comfortable and is immaculate. The location is unbeatable and it's wonderful to be able to look out of your bedroom window onto open countryside. You're in a peaceful, rural area yet it's so convenient for all the tourist haunts. It's extremely handy for the A9 and therefore it's easy to reach Aviemore, Perth or beyond but the accommodation is no more than a couple of minutes drive from Blair Atholl/Blair Castle and other Highland Perthshire gems such as Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Loch Tay, Loch Tummel or Loch Rannoch are very easily within reach with a short drive. Breakfast at The Struan Inn is fresh, plentiful and tasty. Service is unobtrusive yet excellent. I visit this part of the world several times a year - well, as often as I can manage - and I'm going to be back here regularly. I have already booked my next visit. As a solo traveller I am looking for a certain level of comfort and service and I have found this in abundance at The Struan Inn. It's a credit to the owners and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to any visitors to this beautiful part of the world.…
This quiet spot is located just off the A9 and well worth seeking out. Welcoming, and with immaculately prepared rooms it is particularly convenient for cyclists enjoying stunning scenery along the nearby Sustrans Route 7.
I was on a cycling trip and stayed over at the Struan Inn for one night. I was met with a warm welcome by the friendly owner, who showed me the room etc. It is a very small, quiet and cosy inn, however it was absolutely perfect for what I was looking for - a comfortable room, excellent food, a couple of drinks from the bar, and a good breakfast before hitting the road again. The room was clean, tidy and had a small TV and also tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was quite dim but had everything needed and good warm shower. I booked dinner for 7pm and had a quick pint outside in the beer garden beforehand, nice and quiet with a nice view but the midges were unbearable after 10 minutes or so. The food in the small restaurant was excellent, not cheap but great standard and there aren't any other options nearby at all and it was very enjoyable. Afterwards you can sit in the small bar area or the small lounge, both of which are very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, good choice of hot meals after you've helped yourself to juices, cereal, yoghurt/fruit etc. I would definitely stay at the Struan Inn again - it's not somewhere to go if you are looking for a big, busy hotel with lots going on nearby, but if you are looking for a convenient, comfortable stay with the option of great food and drinks, then this is perfect.…
