Can only say this hotel was perfect in so many ways!
We had a superior room on the second floor which was perfect space wise and balcony wise. The only downside was the double bed being 2 twins put together but no big issue.
Room service is 24/7 there is even a online chat availabe to make requests.
Staff are all brilliant, very friendly and happy to help in any way possible with your stay.
There are several lilos available by the pools.
All sunloungers come with little side table, the only thing I would suggest is being able to order from the Q code would be a great feature.

The only negatives we would say is 2 things;
1. Obvously buffets are not allowed so you are on a set menu for each meal. Breakfast has alot to choose from, however dinner is 2/3 items per course. Only twice did we choose to eat out for dinner due to what was on offer.
2. The evenings are kinda wasted as there was only a jazz night and romantic night on during our stay. I only say it is wasted as the evening bar isn't used that much in the evenings and seats are only taken for the entertainmnet evenings.

However, those are very small things as the location is great, 30 second walk to the beach which has many places to eat and drink.
The hotel is also very quiet and away from any wind from the beach etc.

Again the staff are great and super friendly to everyone, I am sure it isn't easy for them during these times.

We would definately suggest booking this hotel when coming to Crete!

Stayed at The Albatros for a week in August 2022. Booked a standard room and reading the previous reviews was a bit worried about what the room would be like! I shouldn't have worried because the standard rooms are absolute great! Spacious and clean with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool with a sea view. There was a fridge with a complimentary bottle of water when we arrived (very late/early hours) and air conditioning. The bathroom was spacious and the shower worked brilliantly.
The staff were all helpful, friendly and full of advice if needed and always worked so hard especially the restaurant staff whom we saw morning, noon and night..working away and as cheerful at 7am as at 11pm!
Stayed on a half board basis and the breakfast and dinner were absolutely fine..you could always find something to tempt you, whether that be fruit and yogurt, croissants, eggs and bread in the morning or in the evening there was a variety of 'theme nights' eg Oriental, bbq, Mexican etc so there was always a good choice for all tastes.
We never found a problem getting a sunbed when required..yes there are the ususal characters who get up at sunrise and hog a sunlounger but we never found a problem at a reasonable time eg 10am/11am ....the sunbeds have lovely cushioned pads and a parasol if required. The staff who work on the pool bar area were so friendly and the milkshakes were out of this world!
The only thing I would change about the hotel is I would increase the 'entertainment' as there was not a lot going on in the evening. They had one 'Crete dancing night' and the rest of the time there was 'just a dj' playing background music. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting any kind of 'Brits abroad/Ibiza type club nights' but maybe some kind of shows such as 'The Greatest Showman'/Talent shows/comedy nights as I have seen in other hotels eg in Cyprus etc. They did have a 'wine tasting' session which was fun but started at 5pm for 45 mnis and a 'Greek Cookery class' which started at noon. ( Standing cooking at noon in Greece in August can be a bit hot!!)
The location of the hotel is brilliant because you are close enough to the 'strip' to walk there in 10 mins but far enough away to not have the noise and hustle and bustle of it. The hotel is less than 5 mins walk from the beach and has local bars and tavernas to enjoy before you get to the strip. Captain G's was a great local bar and taverna as was GreSco's cocktail bar further along the strip.
The hotel is 5 mins walk from the harbour where there are plenty of boat trips and water sport activities to enjoy and there is a local 'land train' which picks people up at the harbour where you can then spend an enjoyable couple of hours on the train enjoying the views of the local area and seeing other resorts on the coast as well as Old Hersonnisos.

We have just returned from our 11 night stay at the Albatros. As a family we have visited this hotel before, and during the pandemic we feel the hotel acted professionally and carefully at all times, the staff wore masks & gloves constantly and were seen to sanitise their hands all of the time when touching customers food and drinks.
We had a wonderful time, wonderful holiday in beautiful surroundings with hot weather, the hotel is a perfect base if you want to explore but also very comfortable if you want to stay around the pool and in a very quiet area. It’s super clean in all of the communal areas, however I feel that the room cleaning could have been better every 2 days I don’t think is sufficient. Also the smaller pool seemed greasy and full of leaves. However in saying this the main bigger pool I have never seen a cleaner pool in a hotel.

The food was always hot and timely on an evening and good quality, the waiters/waitresses were always friendly and loved our children. Jenny always looked after us, and made it clear we could ask for children’s meals as they weren’t on the menus.
Breakfast was not so good, there is too much choice on the menu people getting confused with what to order and it was rarely right, and usually cold. However we do sympathise that times are strange at the moment so we just made do with what we were given!
The beach is a 45 second walk from the hotel and also there are shops nearby, if you want to walk a little further there is Hersonissos strip which was extremely busy (not really our thing as a family) and definitely not much social distancing but plenty of bars and restaurants if you wanted to eat out every night.
The entertainment was on Saturdays Tuesdays and Thursdays with Zumba in the pool on a Monday and Friday. More for the children to do/enjoy would be better as it’s a family hotel but no kids club open or play areas nearby.

The staff and service make this hotel amazing, we would definitely return, thank you for a wonderful holiday Albatros!

We've been here in the first week of September. And it was great time

Rooms
We were upgraded from standard room to superior family room, it was really amazing. Rooms are clean and not small, with AC and all needed equipment.

Food
Meal really tasty and awesome, quality is better than in most local restaurants. Staff is very nice and does their job on high level. We really enjoyed every breakfast and dinner here.

Pool
Clean pool with enough number of sunbeds

Location
1 minute from beach, stores and minimarkets nearby, city center is not far from hotel where you can find bunch of bars, pubs, restaurants, clubs.
Car rentals and quad rentals in front of the hotel

Entertainment
Is quite poor, there are events called dj night or jazz night which look like disco night for elder people. If you are young and wild, there is nothing that can meet your expectations.

Facility
There is old small billiard table which costs 2 per game. Gym is closed due to current situation. Can't say anything about spa, cause didn't use spa services.

Beach
Equipped with standard sunbeds and umbrellas.

Overall
To sum up, I really enjoyed of staying in Albatros hotel, and appreciate hard work of staff, I recommend this hotel to people who likes calmness, who likes tasty food and doesn't like to fight for sunbeds.

Came to the Albatross spa resort as a last minute break and was not disappointed, staff were amazing couldn’t be more helpful, from upgrading our room to helping us find a missing rucksack which was left on our transfer coach, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room is a superior family room with our own sun beds on a private terrace definitely worth the upgrade. Food is ok it’s a set menu which is understandable under the current conditions. Staff are working really hard to keep everything clean even steaming the sun beds in the morning before they are used, we were even given a late check out without charge.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back in the future

Stayed here from 12-19 of may 2022 as a couple .
I had written to the hotel previously via email requesting a room in the newer part of the hotel and to order champagne on arrival unfortunately this was not answered , however our room was not in the newer part but was still okay , very traditional with stone walls . It was big enough for two of us for a week anymore than that and I may have got a little fed up . The room was spotless , has kettle and tea and coffee . Hairdryer in the room worked good never took mine out of the case .
The shower was amazing always hot and with good pressure .
Maids cleaned everyday, making up the beds and changing the sheets regular .
The hotel it's self is absolutely spotless everywhere, the pool area is lovely with very comfy furniture around it .
The food was so good , breakfast always had lots of choice , coffee and tea was free anything else such as latte , espresso etc was one euro.
Dinner was always nice, plenty of choice and full of lovely Cretan flavour. The service here is impeccable , staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble . The hotel entertainment was good , they also put in special nights like romantic night which was £39 Euros if I remember for a lobster meal. There was Greek night with dancers and live music .
The location is just perfect it's literally a 1 minute walk to the nearest beach and close to the shops , close enough to the strip but not so you are disturbed by the parties . I'd recommend this hotel to couples defiantly . Thank you for our lovely stay and keep up the good work .

Stayed here 10th-20th June 2022.
Hotel is in great location, a minute walk from the beach, couple of minutes from main shopping street.
We found all of the staff from reception staff, catering/waiting staff and cleaning staff to be incredibly polite and helpful.
The buffet style breakfast was great with a mix of cooked foods and continental style items. The evening meals were good mostly.
The drink prices were on a par with beach front bars.
The road train can be caught from outside the Creta Maris hotel(100 yards up the road) and at about 15 euros per person for a 2hr trip round the resort we found interesting and good value for money.
We hired a car through the reception which was quick, simple and didn't cost any more than hiring from one of the dozens of car hire places in town.
When booking this hotel you have the option to book a standard room, which will be an older room in the original part of the hotel, or a superior double which will be in the new part of the hotel. On average the superior doubles will cost approximately 25 euros per night more than a standard room. We had booked one of these and it was well worth the extra. Ignore the moaners on here talking about "bribes" and "rip offs", they basically didn't pay the extra for the better room then wanted a free upgrade on arrival, hence they then criticised everything about the hotel when they didn't get the free upgrade. You get what you pay for.
We didn't use the spa so cannot comment on this facility.
The hotel and pool areas were kept spotlessly clean by very hard working staff and we never struggled to get a sunbed by the pool.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

We have just returned from celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary at this amazing hotel. The welcome from reception staff was friendly and efficient. We were escorted to out beautiful room (371) with large balcony including sunbeds overlooking the sea. Our pre ordered champagne was nicely chilled and two beautifully presented slate platters including canapes and fruit provided for our enjoyment.
All the staff from reception, restaurant, bar staff and cleaning staff are a credit to the hotel owners. Smiling faces, high levels of care and service to keep you covid safe, nothing a problem, not that we had any due to good organisation and presentation in every area.
The food choice at breakfast and dinner exceptional, well cooked and presented. The hotel inside, grounds, sunbeds, pool areas kept very clean and well maintained.
This was our third visit to Crete and by far the best hotel of this standard we have stayed in. We would even say the hotel should be 5* and will highly recommend to our family and friends.
Well done to everyone for providing us with an amazing holiday

We stayed in the hotel in June, great location near to the beach, strip and shopping areas.
The hotel gave us a voucher for lunch because of our late arrival due to flight delays even though it wasn’t their fault. We had a good room with balcony, pool view and sea views, with a shower, bath, wardrobe, mini fridge and even an ironing board.
Our room and the the hotel were kept spotlessly clean by the hardworking and friendly staff, we were always greeted by a lovely fresh smell whenever we entered the hotel and our room.
We found the food in the restaurant to be very tasty, with a good variety and choice of dishes, the staff in the restaurant were brilliant, they never stopped working and trying to keep the guests happy, they were a fantastic team, we would like to thank them all individually but there were too many to name, they always greeted us with a smile.
Although they were very busy they took time to ask how we were, teach us a bit of Greek and swiftly cleared our table after each course. The food was constantly being refreshed, replenished and replaced all the time, and the serving areas and tables were kept spotlessly clean and immaculate.
The reception staff we very friendly and helpful, special mention to the lovely Desi who was fantastic with us and did everything she could to make our stay memorable. We had trouble using the air con so we informed reception and within minutes a nice smiling man called Nikos came up to the room and patiently showed us how to use it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, great pool area with lots of sun loungers, on the day we checked out we were provided with a secure place to store our luggage with scales, use of immaculate shower facilities were also provided complete with toiletries and fresh clean towels.
We loved our stay here and would definitely come back to the hotel again.

I stayed with my boys last week (our second year) and absolutely loved every minute of it again. It was a perfect holiday with limited movements on the sunbed by the pool and unlimited food for me while my children spent the days in the pool. Already starting from the room, I felt that much thought had been given to where to put us, as last year we had adjacent rooms with my brother's family and there were no separation walls on the balconies, this year my brother's family couldn't come due to flight cancellations and I was given a room with a separated balcony. The room was also on top of the bar area this time, meaning that I could enjoy the programmes downstairs from my balcony after my children had gone to bed while also enjoying the sea view. The food was exceptional like I remembered and to be honest, the table service suited me so much better, as I didn't have to take the eating times as a logistical exercise running back and forth with the food for my children or watching them drop the cakes on their way back to the table. Between the three of us we got to try everything we wanted, my 8 year old enjoyed a full 5 course gourmet dinner on most nights and my 5 year old did not even ask for pasta and bread rolls which were his favourites last year. I had more salads than I would have had, as you just have to try everything, and I balanced this overly healthy menu with a nice bowl of banana ice cream at the end of every meal. After dinner we enjoyed cocktails in the bar and the children loved their mocktails in posh glasses. They had a choice of 5. You could easily forget about Covid-19 and I was really impressed by the measures the hotel had taken, from staff wearing masks and spraying sunbeds daily to wrapping all everyday items collecting germs (e.g. TV remotes, phones in the rooms) in cling film. It goes without saying that the rooms are exceptionally clean and comfy. Thank you to all the staff at Albatros for giving us this stress free week. See you again next year! :)
