The Pigs hotel garners acclaim for its cleanliness and the friendly, attentive service, although a few guests have pointed out occasional lapses. Its charming atmosphere is frequently highlighted, with luxurious amenities like private hot tubs and fire pits enhancing the experience. While the rooms are generally celebrated for their beautiful design, there are mentions of maintenance and cleanliness concerns. The spa amenities receive positive feedback, though some guests have observed a dip in quality. Despite the praise, many travelers question the value, citing overpriced elements that don't quite meet expectations.

What a treat. Had 1 night in one of the spa suites at The Pigs. The room was amazing with its sauna, steam room & bath with tv. There were all sorts of scrubs & lotions to pamper yourself with, marshmallows to toast, cookies to munch. The staff were brilliant. I had a beef roast dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, great breakfast too.
I didn’t rate the coffee or the solid shampoo + conditioner but my major bug bear was that with the spa suite you get 45mins in the hot tub. We went down, showered & got in, put on the jets & noticed all of this brown/grey scum gathering around the side. So firstly you know people aren’t showering before getting in but secondly if this is the case why aren’t the pigs staff checking & cleaning it out before the next user? How often is this water changed!? Grotty. Needless to say we only lasted 10mins, got out as soon as the muck became apparent.
The lighting in the bedroom was a bit dark, it would be good in future to be able to control the brightness/warmth/colour. As someone else mentioned the green light in the bedroom was on all night & was annoying, i put a t-shirt over my head in the end.
I think we will return later in the year & will definitely recommend to others but advise to not bother with the communal hot tub!
Everything else worthy of 5*

Hello Thelly86, Thank you for such a wonderful review regarding your stay with us recently. I'm glad to hear that you will be returning in the future. I do apologise that the Spa Garden hot tub seemed to have a scum when the jets were put on. We have a rigorous cleaning schedule for the tub, and the water is changed daily. We have clear signs that ask our guests to shower, however as pointed out in your review, it is clear that not everyone does this. Whilst we clean the tub in-between each set of guests who use it, we unfortunately cannot drain and refill between each use, so if guests decide not to shower, unfortunately it can happen that when the jets are put on some scum can appear in the bubbles. I do hope that on your return, more of our guests who use the tub before are respectful and use the shower facilities provided. We try to offer a relaxing ambiance with the lighting in the room, but I appreciate your comments on the rooms perhaps being a bit dark, and will pass this feedback on. We do have to have the green light as a safety feature for if we have a fire, we do have eye masks available for if this disturbs our guests. Please feel free to ask on your next visit. We look forward to your return, to enjoy another experience with us at The Pigs. Many thanks, Megan

I spent my 30th Birthday at The Pigs as a surprise from my partner. I’ve always said I’d like to go so was really happy to arrive there! I had a treatment booked around 45 minutes after arrival - I was told a therapist would come and get me from my room which she did, albeit 10 minutes late but that wasn’t a real issue as we were in no rush. The treatment was wonderful and relaxing! Our room was decorated for my birthday which was so lovely and the room in general was great. Unfortunately the main light in the room didn’t work, but we didn’t feel like we needed it enough to mention it. The Bluetooth connection for the music didn’t work either, but again didn’t feel this was that big of a deal for us but perhaps it might be for another customer so may be worth looking into.
Our meal was really brilliant, the slow cooked lamb sharer was truly fantastic. The restaurant was pretty quiet though which was surprising.
My only feedback would be regarding the products in the room - there’s shampoo, and a shampoo/conditioner in one bar but could really do with some bottle conditioner with the regular shampoo. The bar is very drying and doesn’t condition at all so my hair was super dry afterward to go for dinner. Sounds very trivial but from a woman’s perspective it would have made a world of difference! All in all, a lovely stay and very happy.

Just got back from a two night stay with mum mum. We had an original spa room and had the winter warmer package which included breakfast in each day and also dinner. I also booked a half day spa which gave us a 30min treatment, use of the spa garden and lunch. We had a lovely time. Room was very nice, sauna was a great addition. Food was lush - really good value as the portions were good and no scrimping which you can find in some places. The dark chocolate and pear pudding was fab. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and good coffee. Staff were really friendly, and the lady on the spa reception yesterday evening and the evening before was really helpful, nothing any trouble. Will definitely be back and plan on bringing my other half next time.

Superking bed which was very comfortable
Large bathroom with walk-in shower
Luxury products in bathroom
Big towels
Big bath robes and individually wrapped slippers
Air conditioning
Private sauna and couples bath in semi outside location.
Great outside fire pit
Large screen TV well positioned.
Very tasty breakfast apart from a few issues below

**Dining**

Good selection of evening meals
Very tasty food
Excellent staff, professional, polite and attentive
All wearing masks
Nicely decorated dining and breakfast rooms

Negatives

Emergency lighting in room was illuminated and large during night making room too light to sleep
Some of the cakes for breakfast were a little stale.
On the upper scale price-wise
Some decoration around the venue requires a refresh considering the price.

Overall - Go, you'll enjoy it. A little different from the norm.

We were really looking forward to our stay here to celebrate a ‘special’ birthday with family. The room we stayed in was certainly not at the standard I was expecting, it was filthy! I tried to have a bath but it wouldn’t fill, we were told it’s because the kitchen are running water!! As it turns out it was also because someone had unscrewed the thread on the plug. We had put the bath bomb in before we realised that there was not going to be a bath run in time to get ready for the evening celebrations. The manager Megan came to our room and listened to our complaints. She just kept repeating that it was not the standard she expected from her cleaning team and that as she’d re-threaded the plug she had resolved the issue! Unfortunately she clearly thought I was lying about the red rim around the bath that was there already insinuating that we’d run the bath to that level.... if only!!! We were offered 10% discount off our complete evening bill but unfortunately when it was time to pay they wouldn’t honour this and would only take £8 off a £280 bill (there was 6 of us & I was promised discount for everyone) We also received £17 discount from our room charge. So between 3 couples spending around £1000 we received £25 back. I don’t think that this is in any way appropriate to how we were treated. I feel very let down and disappointed with the way the complaint was dealt with and the don’t feel like the issues were sorted out at all. When I had a reply to my email I was basically told that I was jealous that I didn’t have a Spa room like the couples we were with. I don’t care what standard room I stay in but I do expect a clean room- especially when you’re paying top price!!

Hello Katie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay from a few months back. I'm very sorry that you do not feel I dealt with your complaints in an appropriate way, and I can assure you this was not my intention. I agree that there was an issue with your bath tub, and I am glad that I could resolve this so you and your partner could enjoy it during your stay. I can confirm that certain elements of the room were not the standard I would expect from my housekeeping team, and I would always prefer to be open and honest and admit to this, rather than try to make an excuse. Please be assured I took your comments on board, and in relation to your comments I was happy to offer 10% off your bill. I saw this percentage to be a fair reflection of the few issues you had raised. I apologise if I did not communicate the discount in a clear manner. I intended for the 10% discount to be applicable to your individual bill (room & food), not to your whole party's bill (room & food), as the rest of your party were very happy with their stay and had expressed no issues at all. I hope that you take me up on the offer of a discounted room rate for if you return to stay in one of our Spa Suites that I mentioned in my emails, so that you can see why the rest of your party enjoyed their stay with us so much. Kind regards, Megan

The Pigs lived up to its reputation, we stayed for one night in an original room, the rook was clean and the bed was very comfortable and it was great to be able to chill and watch tv from it. The facilities were good but was a bit disappointed not to be able to use the spa garden but knew we may not be able to when we booked, which was quite late. The evening meal was lovely and the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the night so much we have booked for a special birthday for next year but reserved a room with the hot tub included, albeit not the room we wanted as it was already booked up for next June - which I think says just how popular The Pigs is!

We decided to treat ourselves to a nights stay in The Pigs newest room-Sty in the Sky. Overall our stay was good and I would definitely visit again, however I would not choose to stay in this room again. It is the most expensive room in the hotel, but I really feel there are too many things that go against this room for the price it is. Don’t get me wrong it’s been done beautifully however quite a few things let it down. The room is directly above the entrance and pub. When we arrived it was quite warm, but we couldn’t open the window in the living area as there are tables literally below outside your window. We were privy to everyone’s conversation and wasn’t therefore very private, for us or them! Also we just wanted to chill in the evening but the noise from clanking glasses and people talking in the bar was quite loud. The actual room door to Sty in the Sky is just behind the bar area and if you are around the top of the stairs area, you can hear people constantly walking past your door-there also seems to be a slight gap in the door so you can also see people walking past the door. Whilst the spa lounge area is lovely, it seems a bit of wasted space, was a bit miffed that the bedding/covers on the spa bed had a stain on them, and although we didn’t use I still noticed it. The steam room was lovely but I found it to be strange that you have to walk through the toilet area and toilet to access the steam room. The shower room/bathroom does have an amazing shower, best I’ve used in awhile. Unfortunately again due to where the room is located it is very noisy as it faces the road. You cannot have the bedroom windows open unless you don’t mind traffic noise all night and starting from 6am again. It really is a shame where this room is located as if it was away from the road and bar, it would be a lot more worth the money. Our food we had for dinner and breakfast was faultless and staff were good. I did find it a little strange that at breakfast we were told we had to help ourselves to hot drinks from the machine in the bar area. Surely in these times, they should be encouraging people to stay at their table and bring the hot drinks over. Hence you had a gathering of people around the bar area, not only for the buffet (which was served at the bar) but also queuing for drinks. It just seemed to go against what they should be doing for Covid regs. Trying to wait for the area to be clear to get my drink was impossible so I just had to join the congregation! Overall we did have an enjoyable stay, but I definitely would not book this room again and would only visit again if people weren’t encouraged to congregate in crowded areas together. Like I said this room has been done beautifully I just wish it was somewhere else and didn’t have all the niggles for £425 a night.

We have stayed in the wallows twice now. We spent a night here after we got married and then again a year later for our anniversary . I must say it is amazing. The room is lovely and the bed is super comfy! We spent the whole night sitting in the hot tub with the fire pit going drinking and chatting. We ordered food to our room which was amazing both times. I would have rated this 5/5 but sadly I feel it is very expensive. I think that the body butter provided in the room should be free to take home considering what you have to pay for the room. Also the dressing gowns provided were very rough and worn.
Overall tho this is The best place we have ever stayed and I’m sure we will be back again in the future,

Me and my partner stayed New Year’s Eve for 1 night in a original spa room, I will first start on the room nice sauna and bath with tv which you can watch while having a bath, but the pillows on the bed are as flat as pancakes and have seen better days, bright green light in room as you try and sleep which kept me up all night, in response to telling reception about this they said they have to have this for fire exit reasons having stayed at many hotels around the world this is a first to have to have this in room.

Evening meal we decided to try the Lifts we had 5 different ones the crab fish cakes were bland and you couldn’t even taste any crab, the chicken wings were just as bad, the other items were average nothing to shout out about.

Also no where really to sit to have a drink when we arrived so we had to take a drink to the room as there was no were to sit.

Breakfast nice selection of savoury items to choose from but would be nice for some more sweets items ie crossiants.we had a full English as well, my other half’s egg was over cooked and didn’t seem very fresh also the toast was burnt.

All in all would we return probably not as for £200 a night B and B it definitely wasn’t worth the money.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us and you didn't have a good night sleep. We want all our guests to go home feeling refreshed and i'm sorry this wasn't the case for you. Regarding the green light, this is something our fire safety officer insisted we have due to the rooms having the fire pits. This is to insure if there is a fire guests can see in the smoke a light and know how to exit the room. We give everyone feather pillows as standard. Guests are more than welcome to ask for memory foam or non alli as we know feather pillows aren't suited to everyone. I can assure you our pillows are changed every 6 to 8 months to insure guests are getting the best quality bedding. I have passed your feedback about the food to our chefs. I want to assure you all our food is fresh here. We do hope you will give us another try in the future. Kind Regards, Katie.
