We’ve just been for our second “Winter Warmer” break at Byfords and it was fabulous. We stayed in Room 10 which is one of the accessible rooms to the rear - it’s like being in your own little cottage with a massive bed and luxury bathroom (which has non-obtrusive mobility aids for those who need them).

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, the food is great and it’s excellent value for money especially if you sign up for a free Norfolk Passport before you go.

The town looked so beautiful with all the lights still up and we enjoyed going round all the shops before returning to Byfords for our afternoon tea.

We also recommend a pint in The Feathers, and if you have time, Horsey Gap is about an hour’s drive where at this time of year there’s a seal colony with hundreds of pups on the beach. A breathtaking sight!

We will definitely be coming back!

Lovely night away at Byfords . Room was immaculate with added special touches, toiletries ( including cotton buds, make up remover pads and sanitary products) , fresh flowers in the bathroom, vast range of teas and coffees in the room , home made shortbread biscuits and toffees on the dresser. Food in the cafe/restaurant was amazing and the attached shop has a wide range of cakes, pastries and sandwiches to take away, will definitely be visiting again

We visited here to celebrate our anniversary at the end of July and it was the first time we had visited.

It wasn’t a great start when we had trouble finding the hidden car park (could do with some better signage) and then it was full as very small. However the general manager quickly explained to us where we could park, in the nearby budgens car park which really was not far.

The welcome from the general manager was great and explained everything we needed to know. All the new procedures that had been put in following Covid were really good and clear and made us feel very safe, it didn’t effect our stay at all.

Our room (number 3) was gorgeous and looked over the street. The bed was enormous and the bathroom was lovely with a sunken bath and shower. The fresh lilies in the bathroom were a lovely touch. There was also a small fridge which had fresh milk and water. TV had quite a few sky channels including the sports much to my husbands delight!

Included in our stay was a hot drink and cake which we ordered as takeaway in the afternoon whilst exploring holt.

We ate dinner in the restaurant in the evening and we were spread out from other diners. Had a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant despite reduced numbers and our waitress was brilliant, wish I knew her name. She was friendly and helpful and when I explained we were vegetarian, she looked to see what else she could offer us as there was only a limited menu on offer at the time.

The food was delicious, myself and my husband had the bean burger and was all presented very well. We had dessert in our room later and these too were lovely-we ordered a cheese board and banana split.

Breakfast the next morning was brilliant too with a great selection. Was busier as was the first day it had opened to public. The waitress staff all did a brilliant job of adjusting to all the new procedures. You could order as much as you liked from the menu.

Check out was quick and easy and no contact which worked brilliantly.

We had a summer deal so worked out great value for money. Would definitely return.

We booked a room for a staycation. After looking online, this seemed like a quaint, upmarket place that we assumed would have adapted to the COVID requirements.

My boyfriend and I were quite disappointed with the BnB. The dinner we had was unamazing and the food was underwhelming for the price that was paid. There was no room cleaning and no amenities like bubble bath. There was no information available about the area and the front staff were not helpful or friendly. The bed was extremely soft.

The breakfast was the most disappoint as coffee and tea always arrived after food despite being ordered first. We could see it waiting on the counter so it would be cold by the time it arrived at our table (we were 1 of 2 tables that were eating). The fruit salad was grapes and apple, despite there being a greengrocer across the road with amazing fruit. The eggs arrived cold. My boyfriend and I ended up going down the road to Black Apollo for coffee. I do however highly recommend there cinnamon buns! They were incredible.

The hotel has the potential to be a great experience and I hope that they do improve the food quality and service as Holt is a dear little town. My boyfriend and I would love to revisit but probably would think twice before paying upmarket hotel costs and receiving below average food and service.

We stayed here for three nights and had a lovely time. Holt is a beautiful little town with lots of independent shops and Byfords is right in the centre. We stayed in room 6 which is in the eaves and as it was during a hot spell we were very glad of the double aspect windows and fan provided. The decor is exceptional and in keeping with the character of the building. The layout, although quirky, was very well thought out. Parking is limited but were able to get a space every day. We were given a voucher for tea and cake on arrival whcih was a lovely surprise. There was also ample tea/coffee and biscuits in the room too. Breakfast comprised a buffet with fresh fruit, pastries etc and also an extensive cooked breakfast menu. We ate there one evening and the pizza is one of the best ever!
This in e one of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in and although described as 'posh' it is certainly not stuffy!

We really enjoyed our stay, wish we could’ve stayed longer. We weren’t lucky enough to nab a space in the hotel car park (there are about 8) but there is a car park nearby which was £7 for 24hrs which is reasonable.

Our room was at the back, so quite quiet, the bed is very comfortable and although the room is a bit small, it’s very well appointed. Fresh flowers in the bathroom is a nice touch, as is the voucher for a cake and a cuppa.

There isn’t a bar as such but we were able to get drinks brought to the room. Breakfast was lovely and although there isn’t a buffet because of covid regs., anything from the menu was brought to the table with a smile.

The staff is perhaps the best thing about the place, absolutely everyone we encountered was friendly, personable and happy which was so nice to see and experience.

We had booked one room over Xmas, but as the time approached and rules kept changing, so did our booking, and Byfords were fantastic every step of the way, we ended up with two rooms over two nights, so ourselves and our younger son could spend Xmas day with our eldest son and family who live in Holt, whilst following the Tier 2 and the Boxing Day Tier 4 rules,
We felt incredibly safe at Byfords, and extremely well looked after. Returning to the B&B on Xmas day, we found a goody bag of food waiting as no evening food was being prepared, along with an Xmas present bag full of fantastic goodies given to us at breakfast we felt very spoilt.
Both rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff were all eager to please and very positive. We loved the visit and will return. Thankyou Byfords.

We were here for two nights 13 and 14 October on the Byfords Autumn Break Deal which was two nights B&B plus dinner on the first night for £290. We came attracted by previous TA reviews plus a local recommendation. Very warm greeting upon arrival with full explanation of all Covid procedures which were easy to follow. We stayed in room 14 which was a lovely big room with a very comfy bed. Good large bathroom with twin basins, large bath and a large walk in shower. Good breakfast menu with plenty of choice and food was all well prepared, well presented and tasty. Serving staff all very pleasant. There is limited parking on site, just seven spaces so I would recommend arriving early if you are staying here. The only let down for us was the quality of the evening dinner which was no more than average. I am doing a separate restaurant review for this (which will be three stars). This review is based on our B&B experience which was excellent and we will gladly return here again but not including the dinner option.

Parked car on site, easy check in with polite staff who showed us to our room & gave us detailed information. Room was very spacious & spotlessly clean. We then enjoyed complimentary tea / cake in the tea room served by friendly staff member Lesley. We ate in the restaurant at night & there was plenty of choice . With a drink included in either a 2 or 3 course meal it was exceptional value & the portion size was plentiful. Breakfast next day was equally delicious & the staff on duty were very courteous. We will definitely stay here again.

Home from a lovely night in Holt celebrating my husbands birthday. This was our first time at Byfords which was recommended by friends.

I paid for the birthday package on arrival where a few balloons and 2 tiny boxes cakes were placed on the bed. I’m not sure what I was expecting but for £15.00 I was a little underwhelmed but it put a smile on hubbys face.

The complementary tea and cake voucher was a lovely touch which we enjoyed before we ventured out into the village where there is a huge variety of amenities.

The room was beautiful and very clean. Fresh lilies in the bathroom and toiletries. Sky TV and sky sports. Bed was so comfy. We had room 12 which unfortunately it right at the top of the stairs so this disturbed us a few times but didn’t affect our sleep.

There was tea, coffee, milk in the fridge and 2 little cute heart shortbread biscuits left out.

Breakfast - wow! Absolutely delicious and we were lucky to be placed at the bay window. Food is all you can eat and there was no rush to leave.

The lady on reception was delightful. She kindly lent me a phone charger for the night and was very helpful.

Yes but very limited (6/7 spaces and you have to fight to get round the refuse bins on the way in to the parking area). Which is not a good 'first impression' of Byfords. Would not stay there again, We stayed in Rooms 1 and 2, overlooking the main square, very noisy from 0630 on - builders waiting for the shop to open in particular - and no storage space in either room. Expensive, big mistake.

Difficult to answer this as it depends on your budget, we have always been very satisfied with their standard courtyard rooms, which have large and very luxurious bathrooms. Web site I think gives good illustrations of the rooms. It's a lovely hotel, breakfasts are excellent, it's just a pity they don't know where they are going with their evening meals!
