Ate there this evening the muscles starter were was quite good. My main course of scampi however was unbelievably bad, straight out of a freezer bag from a budget supermarket I suspect. I name my feelings known to the young waiter; his response? Simply "oh dear". Well oh dear Red Lion I'll not visit again

We stayed for 2 nights in the attic suite - Room 12, and enjoyed it. The suite is spacious - with a TV in every room (including the bathroom!). Breakfast, service, and the one pub meal we had were as expected - all satisfactory.

Popped in for lunch and meals were OK but nothing to write home about. Also the beers were not kept in tip top condition. Cannot comment on the accommodation as we did not stay. Looks like it relies on passing trade. Better places on A149.

Please ignore the negative reviews - we didn't experience anything that has been written. The service, food and rooms were all excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive and we didn't once get the impression that they took the guests for granted. Had an evening meal too which was also very good. We had a first rate weekend and would... More

Not a lot more to say really the recent reviews say it all. They should be a wake up call to the owners or they just don't read them. We arrived late Friday and on the border of the kitchen closing however the staff were brilliant and we were able to order after we had unpacked. So here are the... More

So disappointed both times we visited. First time was for lunch and the restaurant was busy. We odered fish and chips which we thought was a bit over the top price wise. The food was very ordinary, lacking presentation skills. Second time visited as we were staying in the area. This time was for evening meal and was offered a... More

Our fifth stay in three years and always look forward to returning. Great location with friendly staff and very good freshly cooked breakfast. However it was renovated 8 years ago and in need of updating and a paint job. Unfortunately, on the last afternoon of our stay, the decorator mixed up the room numbers and painted the ceiling of our... More

After a long walk very pleasant appearance and a lot of visitors in the courtyard good ambience. However the property is very tired and grubby needing a complete overhaul. Cobwebs around the lampshades and dusty blinds in the room - crumbs not cleared from the tables at breakfast which was average. The staff are a saving grace.

We have been visiting the Red Lion for over ten years and have seen its popularity steadily rise. The food has never been great but is OK, what makes this pub is the atmosphere. Unlike so many pubs in North Norfolk it has not been turned into a gastro pub charging high prices for average food. However, we recently booked... More

This pub looks lovely from the outside and I had great hopes . We met up with family for lunch. The food was ok but not as good as I expected. The chips in particular were bland and may have been oven chips . The pub is in such a lovely setting but I think it needs to up its... More
