Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I hadnt booked so was fortunate to get a hard standing pitch for my camper van with EHU for one night and one person. £39.75. To pitch an awning would be an extra £8.55 ( think I'm correct) I could stay another night but had to move pitches. Fair enough but obviously not worth putting awning up. This is the only site in the vicinity hence charges can be high. Staff very pleasant, facilities excellent. I understand they have been recently upgraded.

We have stayed at the site on a number of occasions and love its proximity to Blackshore. This was a special visit for family reasons, to remember my late Father in Law and overall we had a good time. The weather was amazing, who'd have thought we'd have 30+ degrees in September? The new toilet block is a great addition, love the combined loo/basin/shower cubicles. Our pitch was big enough for our motorhome and each pitch is very clearly marked to indicate which side is your 'extra bit of grass'. The only downside was having to listen to 2 of the staff having a foul mouthed diatribe as they prepared to go and clean the loos. We had family visiting us and my toes curled at the loud and inappropriate language used. Children were playing nearby and will have learnt a new vocabulary!

Site ideally situated for Southwold town, only meters away from the beach. Satnav can direct you to the opposite side of the river at it is the same postcode. Unfortunately the site is prone to severe flooding after downpours. Wardens regularly roll the wet grass but still allow new campers to pitch up...they then have to drag their tents to a less wet area. Photographs attached were taken Aug Bank Holiday 2023 after only 2 downpours...however children enjoyed bodyboarding on the grass!

The site was well kept with good showers. Very handy for the harbour with its fish shop and handy for Southwold, which is a lovely place. Nice walks across the river. Great fish and chips at the harbour and in Southwold.

I messed up my booking. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful in helping us out. We had to move pitches twice but it worked out great. Clean showers & toilet, great facilities. What a treat. Lovely 15 min walk into town. Also local pub by the harbour does great food. Recommend a ride on Voyager, great fun. Little boat across river worth the £2 for another nice walk. What a great few days. Throughly recommended.

Always a pleasure to return to this site. Great location and friendly helpful staff. A new toilet/shower block has been installed and it's been tastefully surrounded by plants and a fence around the back. However, the showers are not set up correctly - everyone i spoke to had the same complaint, the shower spray was far too wide for such an enclosed space and there was no spray in the centre making showering difficult. Hope this can be fixed. Also a shelf would be useful.

Council Owned Bit of a run down site.. Flower pots etc full of weeds. Pitches full of weeds. If you are over age 64 you have to pay more !!!!!!! Paid £79.50 for two night stay. Out of season... I hate to think what they charge in August. Will never return to that site.... Would not recommend it to anyone....

It’s been 5years since we last visited this campsite, huge improvements since then. More hard standing with grass & a lot more EHU. New toilet/shower block is lovely & very clean, although site was quiet. A new grey water disposal point is a great addition (just a drain 5years ago) although our old Motorhome couldn’t manage to hit any of the 3 drains accurately, a grate across the middle of the drive would have been much better. Still a great addition though. Campsite perfectly placed to enjoy all the Southwold has to offer. We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our visit, the town is lovely with fine houses and quality shops, the fish stalls at the harbour were a real find. The only disappointment was the beach which is too sandy and much too close to the sea well worth a visit
