Just back from two nights at the Bell. Must be about our sixth visit. It always pleases. Great beer, good food and comfortable accommodation; coupled with friendly staff, and this is before you mention the location. By the coast walks abound, Southwold two mile walk. We will go back.

We stayed here for the weekend having stayed in another nearby inn last year, when we had stopped off at the Bell for a pint and ploughman's at the end of a walk. We liked the buzz of the place (and the Ghost Ship on draught) and decided to stay here this year. On booking our room we had also...

The three of us called here for a weekday lunch. We were not too impressed with this rustic type pub. I guess it is okay for some but not for us. The staff were pleasant and the food was adequate.I guess that's about it.

Where do I start ... 9 of us in total 5 children 4 adults. It was very busy so we were advised there would be a 30 minute wait on food that wasn't a problem an hour later the food arrived and we Were starving, my husband had the terrine and sticky ribs, it was dry obviously old and he...

The hotel has six bedrooms and we took five of them for our Friday-Sunday stay. You can see how the interior of the pub was once traditional with more than one bar and a snug. The owners have opened it out but left lots of nooks and crannies. The bedrooms were excellent with everything that you need for a pleasant...

I wish I'd seen the reviews of this place before we went, as going there only confirmed what a number of people have said about it here: incredibly rude and unhelpful staff and, in particular, the appalling attitude of the lady behind the bar. I asked if there were any vegan options, having been led to believe - by the...

This was my first ever visit to the Bell and we had a really delicious lamb kofte and rocket and courgette salad with pitta bread - beautifully fresh and delicious .All washed down...

Loved staying at The Bell and sad it was only for one night. Room was well appointed and the food in the evening and breakfast was very good. The location was excellent for visiting the local area and walking into Southwold across the river bridge or by getting the ferry.

We try and eat or drink here on our regular visits to Southwold. The menu, drinks and prices are the same as its sister pub across the river, the Harbour Inn at Southwold, only the location is not quite as good, as there's no view of the river . But there is a large garden which is handy on a...

We had fish and chips. The fish was fresh and tasty and the batter crisp and light. Perfect. The chips were excellent too. Crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. As for the passion fruit posset - heaven in a glass. With a delicious pistachio biscuit. The beer is very well kept.
