I've been to Dale Hill a number of times and always enjoyed my stay. Sadly not this time. The golf courses are still lovely, well maintained, challenging and interesting. The hotel was a very different matter. It's a great building the rooms are nice and well maintained; the spa facilities are pretty much non existent. The pool is no bigger than than a small hotel room, with tiles missing and not very clean. The changing rooms are pretty non existent and dirty. The only bar open pre dinner was the spikes bar which was busy and noisy, with dirty tables and chaotic service. Clearly the hotel is short staffed but this meant at dinner we wait half an hour for our starters, which arrived somewhat congealed as they had obviously been sitting around for some time. We then waited over an hour for our main course and another half an hour for desserts. Breakfast was again chaotic, food took over half an hour to arrive and was cold. Such a shame Dale Hill has all the components to make a great short golf break but the Hotel is shambolic and short staffed, plus the public areas could do with a clean.

Food was incredible. Would definitely come back and eat at the restaurant. Only minor issue was bread rolls were never given to us but we had side plates and butter so presumed these were just forgotten. Wine was a very well priced. Breakfast was really good. Lovely choices and waiter was great. Leisure facilities were basic. Swimming pool was average… only 2 loungers and the pool had bugs in. The sauna was lovely and hot but fitted 4 people at a squeeze. No jacuzzi. Conservatory roof needed a clean. Towels were given at reception and they were lovely and big. Mixed sex showers and changing rooms. Need £1 for a locker. Had to book in an hour slot at reception. Glad it wasn’t busy as all leisure facilities were quite small. Played golf on the old course. We had a tee time booked for 11am but we got to the pro shop at they’d moved it forward to 10:20am. Luckily we were there with a lot of time and this actually worked out better for us time wise but someone else may have missed it. Course was great and had lots of fun. Hired a buggy for £35. Course was in great condition, very picturesque. Thoroughly enjoyable round. The room we got given was nice and modern. Lovely big bed (2 singles pushed together) but that suited us. Bathroom smelt quite badly of sewage coming from the shower drain. We were room 311. Also the light in the bathroom kept going on and off. Would definitely recommend to friends and would definitely come back. Wouldn’t bother bringing any swimwear though as the facilities aren’t up to par. Was a great price for the 1 night stay with 3 courses and 1 round of golf.

Room Tip: Wouldn’t bother with leisure facilities and check your tee time the day before.

My wife and I have had a lovely 4 days at Dale Hill Hotel and Golf, playing 6 rounds of golf on 2 superb and challenging courses. The hotel was excellent and we had a terrific suite overlooking the 1st tee on the Ian Woosnam course. All the staff were brilliant and couldn't have been more friendly, from reception to bar staff and pro shop. We had a great time although aching a little after so much golf. Will definitely return.

We stayed for one night over the Easter weekend and we really liked it - hubby is already working out a return trip for a full golf break! The hotel is tucked away down a country lane around 20 mins from Tunbridge Wells, plenty of parking and a nice exterior. It’s a golf club so obviously very decked out in the kind of decor you’d expect from a clubhouse. But there were plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. Our room was HUGE and the bed very comfortable indeed. Fixtures and fittings were ever so slightly on the worn side but not enough for it to feel tired or dated in my opinion. We had a lovely view from our room overlooking the golf course which was so peaceful and pretty. Elsewhere, there was a lovely little indoor pool to use - we didn’t use it as we ran out of time - and a gym & small sauna room too. Food was LOVELY. We ate in the restaurant where main courses were £18-£27 (steak was the highest price). But the clubhouse did much cheaper fare (burgers pizzas etc). If we went back we’d probably go for this option! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. One really noticeable strength for me was the lovely service that came with our meals together with the overall presentation. The hotel could’ve easily gone quite basic but chose not to and it felt like a proper treat. Overall we had a lovely time, and hopefully we’ll be back!
