The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable if a little tired in appearance. A good breakfast before catching the ferry and reasonable value for a family of six.

.Booked a room for an overnight stay for a wedding after travelling down from Scotland. Looks lovely - room was fine but on coming back the downstairs area was hosting an insanely loud function with DJ, kareokee and tons of people, which is right below our room. The receptionist lied three 3 times about when it was going to finish (10.15, 10.30, 11)- it was like trying to sleep/relax in a club toilet. Still waiting for everyone to leave as I type this, doubt it will be empty and quiet till midnight. The 'hotel' was built in the 1600s and is not fit for purpose to hold functions along with paying guests as you can hear every conversation and the music feels and sounds like it's in the same room. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel! It's not a hostel! They do not care at all about guests at all only about making money unfortunately - I have never had such a terrible experience staying somewhere. Do not bother, especially if you are travelling far or have an early start - thank god we didn't have kids with us! I asked for a refund which was sheepishly suggested it will be passed on to management.…

Hello, Thanks for your review. I have spoken to the reception staff who checked you in, you mentioned to them that you were going to a wedding that wouldn't finish until gone 11, hence why you were not told about the function as we didn't think you would be in the building. Unfortunately you did arrive back earlier than planned and we were hosting a function. Once you had spoken to staff and we realised you had returned, we asked for the music to be turned down. It was made clear straight away that the function would end at 11pm the latest as this is when are licence ends. You are right it is an old building, and unfortunately noise does travel. The event did not go on until midnight because the function staff left at 11.15. Our accommodation manager was not on site, hence why this was passed on. Apologies that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Thank you

What a delight… a beautiful historic and rustic farm house.. loved it from the moment we arrived and it only got better. Very warm and friendly welcome. Room number 1 was huge.. high ceilings, and lots of space. A lovely cool room on a very hot day. Very clean. Had a very lovely nights sleep in a comfortable bed and no noises or distractions. Breakfast.. such lovely polite team, food was fast and generous portions and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Whilst searching for the times of the Bank holiday family day, I stumbled across the reviews and read some of them with an element of surprise. I have never stayed at this hotel but have attended several fund raising events and feel it needs to be remembered that this is a 17th century beamed building full of character, steeped in history and run as a registered charity. It is not clinical but it is clean with great toilet paper! The décor is fitting to the building's age, and the atmosphere is warm and sincere. The heart of this establishment is a learning facility for adults with special educational needs. There is clearly mutual affection and respect between the “teaching” staff and the students and it is enormous credit to the said staff that these young men and women are confident in their work in the safe environment that has been created. This hotel is nestled in the foot of the hills, is great for walking enthusiasts and is near to a pub with a fairly varied menu and Thai restaurant. …

Friendly hosts, Comfortable beds, lots of storage in the room. Good selection of tea , coffee and biscuits. Hairdryer but no socket near a mirror which would be really handy. Breakfast was delicious, including a vegetarian breakfast. Shower was very low pressure and hard to adjust to a comfortable temperature but had the option of a bath so not a major problem. The guy serving breakfast was super friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely stay

Stayed here for 2 nights, beautiful location, lovely clean room. Ensuite however was very small and water pressure was rubbish making having a shower difficult. Lovely Thai restaurant 5 min walk away. We had booked and paid for our stayed through booking.com so was hugely surprised when we got asked to pay again on checkout. When stated that we had paid through booking.com we were asked to display proof!! When proof was obviously shown by us, no apology was made, other than ok as a comment. Very disappointed.

Stayed here just for one night for work, totally not what I expected of Eastbourne, this area is more inland in the country side, so incongruous to how I thought of Eastbourne (seafront, beach). Lovely people, I wanted a bath in the room, so they put us in the family room, with 1 double and 3 single beds - there were only the two of us, but it's the only room with a bath tub. They also recommended a nearby pub for dinner. Yes, the decor is dated, but it's comfortable. I had a good night sleep.
