Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

very Bad experience at Dreams Hotel located in 2 Linton Road, Barking, East London. The worst hotel room I've ever stayed in my life, the room was very dirty, stains on the walls, holes, in ceiling and walls. Skirting board paint peeling. Shower disgusting with black mould and black hair all over. One power point that was cracked and dangerous, the kettle plug kept coming lose, there was blood on wall in the bathroom, chewing gum stuck on wardrobe. The wardrobe was falling apart …….. all in all this was the worst hotel I've ever stopped new customers be aware it’s a slum.

Unfortunately the representation of the room and reality is miles apart. The photos used for the hotel on several booking sites seems to be at least 10 years old, and there is no signs of any maintenance having taken place in the intervening years. The room we occupied (which was the second we were offered, as the first one was damp and foul smelling) was extremely run down with several (punch) holes in the ceiling and the walls, there was stains of unspecified origin up the walls, some of the furniture was barely holding together, blood splatter on the wall, paint peeling off walls and unexplained bulges in the floor. There was only one tiny mirror in the bathroom, the shaver socket didn’t work and nowhere to put your toiletries (no shelves) and no towel rail or hooks. The only had one double socket, that was barely attached to the wall and placed under the badly scratched and damaged table - totally unacceptable in this day and age. Also no mirror in the main room so no chance of using a hairdryer in front of a mirror. In the description on their website it is claimed there’s soundproofing to every room, which unfortunately is untrue, as I have now experienced every sound you can imagine from the toilets in the rooms around me, every door slamming, every conversation both in corridors and rooms, and they also have some sort of alarm system, which sounds for several seconds every time someone opens a door. Luckily we did not experience the loud music which apparently happens every weekend. There also didn’t seem to be any extra precautions taken with regards to Covid protection or extra cleaning.

Are you a member of Dizee Rascals church of bass? Do you find the floor and windows vibrating helps soothe you to sleep. If so this is the place for you! Unfortunately I'm not, so the incredibly loud music from the attached bar meant sleep was delayed until 1.20am on Monday morning. Not a restful night. The shower was luke warm if I'm being generous. THe bed was worn out and the room was threadbare and in desperate need of maintenance. It's cheap for a reason.

Excellent location however sometimed a bit noisy from music adjacent pub. Receptionist not rude but could be froendly and better customer service oriented. It makes a big difference. Rooms are smelly and mattress bigger than bed. Toilet and shower cubicle of good size although shower door too small. Old furniture but excellent bed linen. We recommend while in barking city centre stay at ibis or travelodge

Insight: Traveling to London for work, and sought a budget hotel with Tube access to the Excel centre (one change from Barking). Review: Pleasant staff, very handy associated bar next door that serves food (didn't try myself), room was sufficiently adequate. Very comfortable bed and a fantastic shower. Daily turndown service and tea/coffee refills. Never had to ask for a thing. General area is friendly with welcome patrons next door. Would happily visit again!

Writing this review laid in bed at this hotel with no chance of sleep. In room 4 which is ground floor and backs right onto the back door of the kitchen. No 1 am Monday morning and music is blaring out the kitchen and the chef is on his phone right outside my window shouting at the person the other end. As far as I'm aware the kitchen forms part of the hotel. This is a joke Avoid, there is a travelodge across the road, go there. Also have a hole in my floor and the room has clearly been a smokers room as that's what it stinks of

Clean sheets towels 😎 Grubby peeling wallpaper☹️ with curious stains on wall paper😱 Hole in wall like a punch mark!!!! Toilet cistern had bits missing Room booked for 2 but only one shower towel in the room We were looking for business travel accommodation but totally not suitable. Too grubby, no customer service, slow to book in, did not feel safe and not even staying the night just checking it out as a venue…Not good.

I stayed on business here for 2 nights. The hotel is linked to a bar next door which was fairly quiet when I was there, although walls are very thin so you can hear people coming up and down the stairs throughout the night. Room was a fair size, TV and clean bedding. Shower did not have warm water in my room- tepid at best. There is a green LED light that stays on throughout the night which can be quite annoying. When I left in the morning I left my case in a store room which was safely locked. When I can back to collect my things the receptionist told me I hadn't paid. I showed him the email confirming i had paid for 2 nights but he then crafted a story about how I had arrived on the Sunday and booked three days, changing rooms on the Monday night. All very odd. I showed him again my booking confirmation, explaining I had only been there for 2 nights. In this time the store room was opened and I grabbed my bag, with the receptionist looking quite shifty. He showed me a second room had been booked under my name for one night on the system. Clearly I was on my own and didn't require two rooms. I sense that if I had not managed to get my bag, they may have made it more difficult for me- perhaps I am being slightly paranoid given a few of the other reviews. He accepted that I had paid and said it was only his second day. Again, very odd. Not recommended.

The Male receptionist wasn't smiling or a welcoming face but wasn't rude. The room was big enough, the bed base was smaller than the mattress and noticed some rusty at the bottom of the shower door. My partner complained of loud noise coming from outside and the building was vibrating, also there one little green light point right in front of the AC which disturbed her sleep but doesn't bothered me as slept well but she didn't
