Absolutely spot on. Lovely atmosphere, lovely food, lovely staff (Maria, Ben & Richard). There were 18 of us, the food was served piping hot and nothing was too much trouble. Have to mention the awesome chocolate brownie, WOW!! Thank you for looking after us, we will be returning.

Very pleasant hotel with lots of character. Major issue whilst there - water leak meant no water overnight! Staff were excellent offering to find us another hotel or a full refund, we went with the latter as it was very late. They were all very helpful and service excellent. Would come back again, hopefully without the water leak! Very comfy...

Very lovely menu with beautiful surroundings, no children running around like in the center of town . Great for girlie chats or couples. There is an outside bit with calming views of the river. Definitely go back again for dinner. I saw also a fab Christmas menu.

Our first visit to the Riverside (we are booked in for Christmas lunch so this was a trial run). ATMOSPHERE: the place was buzzing on our arrival (3pm) but our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Music was playing (the volume allowed easy conversation). A solo singer/keyboard player came on at 4pm and again, the volume was just...

Stayed here for 2 nights for my sisters university graduation. Lovely rooms, an the staff are very friendly and helpful, however, there is no car park except for a public car park opposite that is rather expensive. Breakfast was dissappointing, given the price of the rooms I expected more than a muffin, a cereal bar, and a piece of fruit....

Spend two nights here which was two nights two long. But let's be fair there are positives. Great location (would be good if they offered to cover the parking across the road), food was good but could have been better. Chris behind the bar was the main saving grace, engaging and friendly. The room itself was ok but not up...

Stayed here for business. Had a lovely meal in the bar, although you can sit in the restaurant if you want to. Friendly staff and manager. If your fed up of chain hotels give this place a try. Room was on the first floor and was large and spacious with a view out over the pond. I will be staying...

Refused service after 2 drinks! Never going again. Avoid, over priced drinks and rude staff! To be laughed at when being refused another drink it totally unacceptable. Received an email with a very loose apology, not good enough!

Nice establishment albeit not in an ideal location.. However, what gives you the right to rip people off with your drinks prices. There are plenty of equally nice establishments to enjoy a drink in Chelmsford at the prices one expects. Would be acceptable in London's West End perhaps.. We quaffed or way through one round after reluctantly paying then legged...
