Stayed for one night for a business meeting. This is definitely not a 4* hotel but having said that the room was very cozy and the bed super comfortable. Everything was very clean and there was a very nice selection of teas and coffee which also included biscuits, nibbles and a most welcome bowl of fruit. Even thought I was...

The hotel is nice. If you're here for a night out it is a bit of a walk into the town where the bars but it was cold so maybe ok in the warmer months.... There's a good bar called Barista just turn right out the hotel and it's a short really good music and atmosphere then you can stagger...

We had a table of 10 for lunch. The festive menu has something for everyone. Good value too. 2 courses do £20, 3 for £25 includes coffee & mince pies too. We tried most of the menu between us & all very happy with our choices. The staff were very professional. All in all a really positive experience & we...

Please be warned about the hotel's voucher policy. I bought an £80 cash voucher from the hotel as a present for my parents to have dinner. The hotel said that they didn't have to spend all the voucher in one go. My father went into the hotel a few days before having his meal and the hotel confirmed he didn't...

Thank you for your comments. My apology for the confusion regarding the vouchers. I have spoken with your father personally regarding the matter and have agreed a more suitable split of the voucher value to suit your father's needs. Like most gift vouchers we do not exchange for cash or give change if the full value is not taken, which...

Tired furniture, bed hard, mattress worn out. No hot water due to a plumbing issue. Heated towel rail in room 21 burns your bum when you get out of the shower. Overpriced for the basics Friendly staff, food is good

A very comfortable and quiet venue, ideal for a chat with an old friend. My smoked salmon sandwich was delightful as are the staff. A lovely experience, and i would recommend this venue for a peaceful interlude. Quite a few business people choose the County for their discussions.

We had a great dinner dance at the County Hotel on 4th November. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The crystal ballroom was a perfect place for our event. The food was excellent and served brilliantly.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The decoration is very tired and desperately needs updating BUT it is in a fantastic position for a night out in Chelmsford or a shopping trip. The staff are courteous and helpful although the bar service tends to be slow.

I stayed here 1 night on the 11th October. First Impressions are good ones when you park your car and find the parking bays are a decent size. Then when you walk into the reception you can see that this a nice old building where the decor is light and cheery amd the public areas look very good indeed. Nice...

The hotel is well situated and the parking is a real boon. The staff are welcloming and eager to help but there were times that service fell a little short either because of delays, the staff forgot, or failed to pass on the request. The hotel itself is rathered tired decor-wise and we had rather eccentric plumbing in our suite...
