Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were greeted by a warm and friendly lady and made to feel very welcome. Our room was very spacious and the place was completely spotless. Breakfast had a good selection and location was great as it’s only a couple of minutes walk to the pier. Cannot recommend it enough and would definitely return, such good value!

Really nice b&b with on the road parking that’s free from 4.00p.m until 9.00a.m. Very clean with comfortable beds and pillows. Delicious full English breakfast. Very friendly owner. Close to sea front and high street. Would definitely stay again if we are in Clayton.

We visited The Sandrock recently and found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. The beds were of high quality with nice linen. It looks like the rooms have been recently decorated with new ensuite bathrooms. We will certainly be returning.

The hotel I usually stay in the area was unavailable, read the reviews and thought I would give it a go, not disappointed. Quick and friendly check in, found a parking space nearby when I arrived, moved to one outside later in the evening, side room had a seaview, windows open nice breeze, a fan if that wasn't enough, immaculately clean room and bathroom, like new in fact, decaf coffee and milk, which the likes of the purple palace across the road don't bother to put in rooms these days and a bottle of water. Had a quiet and comfortable nights sleep, good shower and a great freshly cooked breakfast, served by a happy, not professionally cheerful man, all that remains to say is thank you so much for a great stay, and I love the tiled doorway

Stayed there last night with my 1 year old son, everyone was so lovely and welcoming, it was like going into a family home. Bedroom was lovely, clean, spacious. Bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We was right next to the beach & pier. We would definitely come back here and stay again. Told my family to book here when they next come down to clacton. Thank you too all the staff there you made me and my son feel very welcome. 😊 at breakfast there was lovely lady, she was so friendly to my son. 😊

Great location near the pier, beach and bars. Clean room and hotel. Only small issue was the bathroom door was a sliding door which didn't offer much privacy! Friendly welcome lovely staff. Breakfast amazing freshly cooked. Will stay again.

I had a really enjoyable stay for two nights. The wifi was good and the cooked breakfast was excellent. Smart, clean room with good en-suite. A few yards to the sea front and moments from the pier. A well run family hotel. I’d highly recommend it.
