I couldn’t recommend the Chudleigh enough. The owners and staff are so welcoming, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The owners have really put allot of thought into making the rooms feel comfortable and homely yet luxurious (especially some of the newly decorated rooms). I was so impressed by the level of thought that has gone into the amenities in the room (luggage pad, wide selection of hot drinks, water bottles, chocolate/biscuits, makeup remover flannel - I could go on!) the beds were so comfortable and the towels so thick and fluffy. The breakfast that’s included is also fantastic. The selection of cold and hot food and drinks was wonderful and the service/hot food made to order made breakfast feel personal. We stayed as we were attending a wedding near by so stayed at the Chudleigh for 2 nights. We had seen the great reviews and my friend chose this place as it meant she could bring her dog but we were still blown away by how brilliant this place was in person. We came to the Chudleigh just wanting somewhere nice to stay for a good price but the hospitality we received combined with the beautifully well thought out setting really was the icing on the cake for us turning the whole weekend into a memorable lovely experience. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough and would definitely look to stay here again if I’m in the area.

Me and my partner came to stay for 2 nights. We were welcomed by the owners who very kindly let us check in an hour early and also placed an iron and board in our room (free of charge)on request to hire one. The room was spotless (my partner has ocd and he kept saying how clean it was he was very happy and relieved!) the room was homely and comfortable with a good selection of tea coffee biscuits and even a chocolate bar! The bed was comfy and room had free WiFi and free view TV . Breakfast was amazing with a selection of cereal, yoghurt and juices and then a lovely cooked breakfast made to order. All was fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back here again. Also its in a great location 5 stars from us.

I stayed at the Chudleigh for a Weekend away with my grown up children and partners. Absoultely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, cannot fault it on one thing. Breakfast was outstanding cooked by Peter with a lovely little touch of a freshly baked Muffin for everyone to take away as a snack for the journey home. Rooms were of exceptional quality , comfy beds, great decor and bathrooms sparkly clean with whiter than white towels. We asked for a late checkout and that wasnt a problem at all in fact we were told " no rush " whenever we were ready. This meant we could go off and enjoy the weekend for longer before heading home.
Carroll and Peter were brilliant hosts. Very friendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay any more pleasant. This is clearly why they have succesfully ran The Chudleigh since 1963! I will definitely be going back to The Chudleigh !

Leaving this review on behalf of mum, she stayed in Chudleigh for 11 nights on June 12th. 3rd time in this amazing hotel. Carol and Peter are like family, so very lovely and caring. Nothing is any trouble for either of them. Vicky was also lovely and a joy to talk with and get to know. All very hardworking and take great pride in everything they do. Amazing breakfast, followed by cakes to snack on during the day, cleaned room every day, all areas of the Chudleigh is very well cleaned through out. Tea tray is topped up every day with biscuits, chocolate, coffee, sugar, tea and bottled water. A huge thank you all and looking forward to seeing you soon. I can see why the Chudleigh is the best hotel in all of clacton and it's because of how lovely Carol and Peter are. Thank you so much. Love and hugs from Wayne and Maureen x

The staff members were very friendly and caring. They assisted us when we experienced our epilepsy seizures. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and tidy upon arrival. Every morning our beds were made, waste bins emptied, toilet rolls kept stocked up, cleaned sink, toilet and bath. The beds were comfy and I specially loved the pillows. The breakfast options were great. The full English breakfast was very tasty and worth having again. We highly recommend for others to stay at this hotel.

Three of us and two dogs stayed in a twin (double and single bed) ground floor room and single top floor room.
Everything was perfect - owners very helpful and friendly, rooms comfortable with all amenities you would expect plus little extras like bottled water and chocolate bars. We slept perfectly and breakfast was a cold selection plus a fantastic hot full English with many options which were all perfectly cooked.
Our two dogs were also warmly welcomed and the location was just a couple of minutes from the beach down a quiet side road.
Highly recommended - we would definitely return!

We recently returned from a two day stay at this hotel, from our arrival to leaving the owners Carol & Peter could not do another to make us welcome, we had a room on the first floor facing the garden which was found clean & tidy throughout. The bed was not only very clean but comfortable and we both had two great nights sleep. We also appreciated a bottle of water and glasses were left in our room each day. The breakfast room was also very clean and tidy and the service, menu and food was top class. Our waitress also ensured we were well looked after. There was also parking on the front of the property, with additional parking being provided in the front of the Garage across the road. I would certainly highly recommend anyone wishing to stay in Clacton contact Carol, we are also planning to return next year.

My family (2 adults and 1 child) stayed at the Chudleigh for two nights in August in room 10. All we can say is what a superb stay we had. Such lovely hosts and staff, all were warm, caring and couldn’t do enough for you. Our room was on the top floor and was spotless on arrival. It was Cleaned daily. The breakfast was served between 830-930 and had a large selection to choose from. A nice touch was dogs are also welcome at this hotel, although we did not bring ours, it was still nice to have dogs about in our opinion. We would 100% return in the future if we were to come back down to clacton again for a couple of nights.

I usually judge a good hotel or Guest House when they provide a face cloth, loo brush and slip mat for the shower. This implies that the owners have put some thought into the needs of their guests and care about what they provide. Carol and Peter have been running this traditional English seaside hotel since 1963. Ken Dodd was a regular visitor for over 30 years, when performing in cabaret at the local Town Hall. My room was large, warm, comfortable, with two wonderful lounge chairs, and magnificent double bed. Superb, modern bathroom. Welcoming biscuits, toiletries etc. Great breakfast. Just a short stroll from the beach and pier. Cannot be bettered!
