Having lived in Southend for most of my life, I've never had cause to stay in a seafront B&B but I moved away several years ago and was invited to stay at the Waverley when I was best man at a friend's wedding (along with family members as guests) so it was nice to re-visit the old town with a...

Stayed here last night. Had a sea view room, ensuite. This was a lovely room and friendly helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone to stay here. The breakfast was lush. Not a bad word to say, will stay again

Pros: Good location right on sea front. Bus stop close by. Shops and restaurants walking distance. Modernised facilities, nicely decorated. Price reasonable. Cons: Not clean. My room was very dusty and there were many dead flies and spiders stuck on the walls. There were cob webs on corners and light fixtures. Dry stains on the table tops. The outside veranda...

I stayed in this property for one night with my husband and would never stay again. On my way to the property reading the page I had printed from booking.com I realised we had booked a room with a shared bathroom. It was my fault that I had not realised this otherwise I would not have booked it. I checked...

Well, wow!!! I carefully choose hotels but the Waverley was far better than I expected, the rooms were perfect, we both had balcony rooms with beautiful views, the beds were amazing, I didn't want to get up!!!! We were allowed to check in early which made our time in Southend even better. The owners were very friendly, just wish we...

I stayed at The Waverley during a little solo break for one night. On my way day I was contacted twice to find out what time I was arriving which I thought was nice. On arrival Lucy was very welcoming and friendly. I stayed in room 11 which was lovely - it was spacious, beautifully decorated and very clean. The...

I booked a Budget Double Room at the Waverley Guest House so that my wife and I could attend a family function close by without the need to drive back to Sussex the same night. We were warmly greeted by the very friendly 'Lucy' and handed our key etc. I can't remember the room number but the bedroom was on...

I am just shocked regarding the level of service from this property. I feel it was not as described/advertised. There was no sea view from our room just an untidy garden with a spot light that kept going off in the night. We were sold a standard double room not a Superior Double Room with sea view that we paid...

Owners are friendly and offer lovely rooms overlooking the beach. Far enough away from the centre to be a little quieter but within walking distance. Excellent choices at breakfast and lovely clean, modern, light rooms.
