Hubby, myself and daughter went for a weekend break for the first time since the 90's. Was apprehensive as wasn't sure if the hotel/ bed and breakfast was up to standard. My goodness how wrong was I!!. Although, the room was small, decor little out dated and we had shower curtain. The bed was so comfy slept well, quiet area, no noise at night. It felt so homely. To add to it, the owner Bertie and wife, cooked up a great breakfast each morning. The hotel is a good area 7mins walk to shopping area, less than 5mins to breach. Restaurants 10mins walk. I would recommend this hotel. Can't wait to return:)
we were looking for somewhere to go to relax with family, and it was a perfectly comfortable hotel with all a modern facilities We booked through booking.com staff were friendly and polite Breakfast was good, and it was table service Overall amazing 😎
We rented a 2 bed apartment at Ilfracombe as recommended on the Adventure Park websire and it was very affordable. The building is situated about 200m from the top beach promenade and you could see the sea from our one room. It was a lovely quick walk to the beach and very close to shops in town. The building itself is a bit old and could do with renovation but we had a lovely stay nonetheless. On arrival we were greeted warmly by the owner and his staff and were let into our apartment early. The apartment is seriously dated and needs an upgrade unless that's the look they are going for but it was still lovely and warm and clean and very spacious. The kitchen has everything we needed to self cater for the weekend even we opted to eat lunch and dinner out at the many restaurants on offer on the promenade as they were so quick and easy to get to by for from the hotel. Breakfast was tasty and consisted of baked beans, tomatoes, bacon, eggs, sausage, hasbrowns as well as toast, cereals and yogurt. There was also juice and coffee and tea. We were able to order lunch or dinner there too but we were out all day. We purchased our Adventure Island tickets from reception at a very reduced price as compared to if we bought at the perk. Parking was a bit tight behind the hotel and was first come first serve and was safe and off the road when you did get one. All in all it was a lovely stay and very friendly helpful hosts.…
Just stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and the whole experience was top class, rooms , food and service all top class and very very friendly, would highly recommend this to all. Very clean rooms and overall standard is excellent
Lovely hotel friendly staff on arrival and smart clean room. Walking distance to cliff’s pavilion. Great breakfast service 10/10, lovely lady making sure we had all plus more that we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will be back.
My partner, 3 year old daughter at myself stayed here for a long weekend, 3 nights. Family room very large and spacious, and clean. Lovely comfortable King size bed, and a double bed, fridge freezer, TV, dresser, wardrobe, chairs. Good size bathroom with large bath and shower. Reception is pleasant and helpful, a family business run by Bertie and Errol, and family. Has a bar and restaurant. Also reception will give guest discount passes for Adventure island and Sealife. Breakfast is lovely buffet hot English, and continental. Unlimited coffee, tea, juice and water. We have stayed here 3 times and will cony to do so when staying at Southend.
This is a well run and friendly place. The room was very clean and well decorated. The staff were very nice. The breakfast was hot and the service was efficient. A great find, the beach is literally just down the road and it’s a lovely walk to the pier.
We stayed here for one night as we went to see status Quo. What a lovley family run Hotel. Very friendly and welcoming. Our room was room 3 nice and clean and tidy. Had a two seater sofa as well and a good size shower and toliet. What peple have to realise it's a old building and has not got the modern double glazing but our room was lovley and warm with an extra heater if you needed it. Breakfast was very good with table service. We could not fault it at all. All the family works so hard and are lovely people. We will be back.
We went there as heard great reviews however unfortunately it was not as expected. A LOT of broken items incl the boiler and the beds. Ant poison left within reach. Windows broken. The bathrooms, towels etc were FILTHY. There were a LOT of items smothered in rust. Carpets were dirty and had an iron mark on them. The bathroom window was broken so very cold whilst showering. Doors locks were hanging off. Parts of the main bed literally fell off. The wallpaper was hanging off on many walls. Holes throughout the kitchen lino. Kitchen sink was FILTHY. Had weeks old dirty sponges left in it with food. The cleaner literally let herself into the property at 6.20am whilst we were sleeping which is not acceptable. Half the bulbs weren't working. Radiators were rusty and dirty. Window sills are filthy. Very window throughout due to windows. Firealarm was broken which is illegal. No carbon monoxide alarm. Boiler cleaner spilled all over the floor. Dangerous. There were a LOT of extra cots and mattresses dumped in the lounge taking up room. Makeup or mold on the towels and pillows. Disgusting. The staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was lovely. If they fixed all the issues we found then they could have a lot higher rating.…
I stayed on a Sunday night as I had business in the area the following day. The reception area and the stairways look quite tired and need an upgrade so I wasn't expecting much from my room.... But as Cilla used to say.... "surprise, surprise!".... lovely room with a great big TV, sofa, and big bed and lovely appointed bathroom. I'd take earplugs mind you as the sash windows are only single glazed so bit of outside noise but the curtains are think and block out the light so I slept like a log. Comfy bed too. Breakfast was great and all table served so didn't even have to make my toast! Helpful staff too.. For a quick overnight stay it was a surprising result!
