We rented a 2 bed apartment at Ilfracombe as recommended on the Adventure Park websire and it was very affordable.
The building is situated about 200m from the top beach promenade and you could see the sea from our one room. It was a lovely quick walk to the beach and very close to shops in town.
The building itself is a bit old and could do with renovation but we had a lovely stay nonetheless.
On arrival we were greeted warmly by the owner and his staff and were let into our apartment early.
The apartment is seriously dated and needs an upgrade unless that's the look they are going for but it was still lovely and warm and clean and very spacious.
The kitchen has everything we needed to self cater for the weekend even we opted to eat lunch and dinner out at the many restaurants on offer on the promenade as they were so quick and easy to get to by for from the hotel.
Breakfast was tasty and consisted of baked beans, tomatoes, bacon, eggs, sausage, hasbrowns as well as toast, cereals and yogurt. There was also juice and coffee and tea. We were able to order lunch or dinner there too but we were out all day.
We purchased our Adventure Island tickets from reception at a very reduced price as compared to if we bought at the perk.
Parking was a bit tight behind the hotel and was first come first serve and was safe and off the road when you did get one.
All in all it was a lovely stay and very friendly helpful hosts.

Needing to stay somewhere in the Southend area for two nights I confess I booked this hotel with some trepidation. I could not have been more wrong!
My room was fine, though the stairs to get to it were a bit of a struggle (I have bad knees!), and the overall feeling of this family run home was lovely.
Nothing was too much trouble, they gave me parking permits as the car park was full, the breakfasts was lovely home cooked food, and even though the hotel seemed full it all seemed very tranquil.
It’s in a great position, close to the main shopping area, The Cliffs theatre as well as the seafront.
All in all I’d have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Upon arrival my husband waited outside while I ran in to check in and find out about the free parking area. The gentlemen told us where to go and he met us there and guided us back through the hotel.
Check in was quick and easy and we were in our room in a matter of minutes.
The room itself was incredibly spacious and very clean. We were only in the room for a few hours before we headed off to the Cliffs Pavillion to watch Jimmy Carr which was a short walk of 7 minutes!
We then returned just gone midnight and had the best night sleep I've had in a while.
The following morning we got up and headed downstairs for breakfast which was a buffet. You had a choice of the typical full English, Cereal, Fruit, Toast and Jam/Butter. If you wanted your eggs cooked a certain way you just asked your waiter who would get the kitchen to cook however you wanted.
Would definitely reccomend this hotel. I will definitely be coming back soon.

This hotel is all about extremely excellent customer service. The family go above and beyond to please their customers.
The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bed is one of the most comfy beds i have slept in a hotel. I loved the fact it had an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee, hair dryer, toiletries its all there.
There is a small bar downstairs with a selection of drinks from draught beer, wine spirits etc. The food served from breakfast to snacks and evening meals were excellent and very large portions. You would not go hungry in this hotel and prices are very reasonable.
Lastly the location is fantastic. Beach and town centre practically on your doorstep. There is lots to do in the surrounding area. Very much enjoyed my 5 nights.
Thankyou Rita, Berti, Erald and everyone else.

We had an excellent 8-night stay at the hotel in September. The hotel exceeded our expectations for quality, service and cleanliness, in a good quiet location.
The twin bed room on the top floor was very clean and tidy with all the necessary items including a fridge. There were 36 steps to get to the room, but it was worth the effort [stairs are good exercise]. They do have a range of rooms spread over the 3 levels. The breakfast each morning had a good choice of foods, including the "full english breakfast", which was served to your table. They also have a small restaurant for meals at night, and a bar area for drinks. The free parking area at the back is only very small and is a first come basis for parking. If the carpark is full the hotel will provide a parking permit for 2.50/day to park in the street parking controlled areas. There is virtually no free street parking in Southend.
Its an easy 10-15 minute walk down to the High street mall with plenty of shops. pubs and restaurants and the pier, fun parks amusements. Cliffs pavillion is close by.
The Ilfracombe House Hotel is "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"

Although we could not fault the welcome and friendliness of the staff, the breakfast was disappointing, this is a 4 star hotel and had just a small hot buffet choice. There were scrambled eggs and if you wanted fried or poached you had to ask. We did this and on the first day the eggs were not cooked and the second day the service was awful. Cold coffee and warm food. Cramped breakfast room, some tables with toasters on them.

The hotel from the moment we arrive was excellent. So lovely to see a family fun business. Bertie and his family
We’re lovely and nothing was too much trouble with them. There was no parking left in the car park so we was giving a permit to park on the road. We travelled with our one year old son and he was well catered for with the travel cot in the room and at breakfast they was very accommodating with high chairs etc. Our room was spotless when we arrived we got fresh towels on both the days we was there. Even though we didn’t eat at the hotel in the evenings the food smelt delicious and the other guests said it was lovely every night. The bar area is lovely to sit in and relax and it had a good selection of drinks and was very reasonably priced. The breakfast is lovely and it’s nice been served at your table, lots of choice and always fresh. We have truly found a gem of a hotel and we will be back more often as we have friends who live near by in fact we’ve just booked to Stay in November.
Thank you Bertie your a credit to the hospitality sector

After reading the reviews we were really looking forward to our stay. The staff were very friendly and we were able to use the small carpark at the back of the hotel. Our room was number 19. The door was VERY difficult to open and the decor was tired and dated. Half of the bulbs of the ceiling lights didn't work, there was a hole in one of the net curtains, a couple of curtain hooks were missing and the rail for the shower curtain was loose. On the positive side, the ensuite bathroom is prettily tiled, the bed was very comfortable and bed linen clean. For breakfast we had boiled eggs and toast which was very acceptable. Overall, the hotel could definitely do with some remodernization and some TLC. I'm afraid we won't be returning.

If we could give the Ilfracombe House Hotel an 11 out of 10, we would. The accommodations are exceptional, spacious, private, clean, modern, and beautiful, and the lengths that the owners and staff go to in order to make sure that you are happy is just wonderful. Bertie, Drita, Erold, Denis and the rest of the staff (almost all family) are very helpful, informative, and warm. A small but cozy lobby bar is usually open until late, especially with nearby events happening. DO NOT MISS the Full English Breakfast (daily). Airport transport by private car is also available for an additional fee for those that do not wish to brave multiple trains with luggage. STAY HERE if you want your every expectation to be surpassed. This was our second stay here and we are already planning multiple returns. Southend, Westcliff, and Leigh are all wonderful for shopping, dining, and sightseeing and this hotel is a quick walk to both Southend Central and Westcliff train stations, for less than an hour trip into London (Fenchurch Street). The Westcliff and Southend High Streets, Southend Pier, and Cliffs Pavillion are an easy walk as well.

I’m sure evening meals could be arranged with prior notice
Hi Lee, we don’t take payments in advance but we do pre-authorise the card provided to make sure is valid and has sufficient funds to cover your stay. Pre-authorisations are normally done within a week before date of arrival. You will still have to pay as normal the full balance on arrival. Many thanks and hope this has answered your question. Hotel Reception
Hi Lee, I'm sorry I had not seen this on Tripadvisor, I could've replied earlier. Breakfast is served between 7am-10.30am on week days and 8.00am-10.30am on weekends. Dinner between 6.00-9.00pm every day and can be ordered at the table or leave a card at reception after breakfast if you're eating in that evening. Many thanks, Bertie, Hotel Manager
Hi, i'm very sorry, we don't.
