Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It saddens me to have to write such a poor review!! The hotel, grounds and staff were beautiful however the rooms are dangerous with no warning. There was a large gap and trip hazard between the bathroom and bedroom which caused me to catch my foot and take a heavy fall onto the marble bathroom floor, causing injury to my hip and it looks like the loss of my early pregnancy 😔, I had just found out the night before but after my fall, severe cramping was experienced along with the hip pain as my hip broke my impact, and now the pregnancy test is showing negative. I feel distraught, a romantic night away for my birthday has turned into a nightmare! It all could have been prevented with a simple sign saying mind the step/gap, surely they know this gap is a serious hazard!!

I spent the day at Greenwoods with my Mum and Sister. We had an amazing 2 course lunch. Can't fault the food at all & service. We spent the day in the pool area it was great. Very clean and tidy. I have been here a couple of times before and I am sure I will be back again. Thank you

An okay stay, room and hotel nicely decorated. The meal was somewhat disappointing as the rolls were still frozen. When we let them know, they quickly collected every one else's. When they came back white roll was cooked but wholemeal one was still cold inside. The website says they offer Sunday lunch but we did not see this option plus it wasnt open at lunch time. Checkout took a long time as they couldn't understand how to get the bill into one payment, so they split it instead. They were friendly but probably needed someone more senior nearby. Room was nice but a lot of attention to detail cleaning errors. I would also expect a few more complementary items like hand cream. Seemed quite basic for the price of the room. Overall it was an okay stay but too many problems for us to return.

Asked for cocktail list to be told we don’t do cocktails this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel ordered a bottle of Prosecco delivered to our table but we had to open and we were given the wrong type of glasses for sparkling wine had to go to bar to request our coffee then asked to take home uneaten cakes and we were just given boxes and had to put the cakes in it was like self service so very poor and probably the least amount of finger sandwiches we have ever had. So disappointing especially as it was my wife’s birthday we live in Stock but won’t be visiting again

Dear Tonyknight, We were sorry to note that you were disappointed with any aspect of your afternoon tea with us here at Greenwoods. This is one of our most popular packages and it is very unusual for us to receive any comments of this nature. We have spoken to all of our staff to ensure your comments have been fully investigated and our food and beverage team have passed along their apologies for the issues with the service. The take away boxes however do have to be packed away by guests rather than staff, due to Natasha's Law and the allergen risks involved in taking food home. We would like to discuss your comments with you personally so if you would please contact us at: customerservice@greenwoodshotel.co.uk we will look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards,

Attended The Princess Afternoon Tea this afternoon, taking my 2 granddaughters. What a lovely experience it was. The venue looked so pretty, the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The service was second to none. The Princesses were amazing, giving so much time to the little z princesses attending. Thank you Mani, Christie and all the team for a wonderful experience. Ella has asked to come along again next year. Highly recommend. Kim, Tony & Family

Dear Kim B and family, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review of your recent experience here at Greenwoods for our princess afternoon tea. We are so pleased to hear what a wonderful time you and your family had at this event. We have received so many wonderful messages from the attendees that came over the weekend to these 2 events. Our events team worked very hard to ensure that this event was a most memorable experience for all the children attending and we have been delighted to note how impressed our guests were with the whole day. Our pastry chef outdid herself with the amazing cakes this year and we are so proud of all the work our team puts in to make these events happen. We look forward to welcoming you again next year. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas. Kind regards,

We visited for partner birthday 19th November, all the staff were exceptional. Spa was really nice, lots of recliner chairs and wasn’t overcrowded. Food was lovely and breakfast was filling albeit our server forgot to bring us the toast we ordered. The only downside was the room was chilly, as it’s November a winter duvet would have been better, 10.5 tog at least, and there was a draft coming through the windows, we had to slept in our under armour. Would definitely revisit perhaps in warmer weather

Really comfy bed and lovely old building. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely. I booked a head massage for me and an upper body for my other half. He almost got 20 minutes (I'd say 17 mins). The steam room wasn't working when we tried to use it but this got fixed when I mentioned it The sauna in the relaxation area wasn't working and the bit that I was looking forward the most (swimming) was so disappointing as it was too cold for me to get into. I tried several times but couldn't bring myself to get in.

Dear wendyhY8567VJ, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following a recent overnight stay with us here at Greenwoods. We value all the comments we receive from our guests and have passed along your review to all of our team. We were pleased to note how impressed you were with the food and service you received during your stay. With regards to the spa facilities, our staff make regular checks of our pool and facilities throughout the day, every day, to ensure that we are running at the optimum always. Our pool is kept at a constant 29degrees temperature and we have not been informed of any faults that would have impacted this in the last month. Our staff and management team are always on hand however and happy to deal with any queries that are brought to their attention at the time. We do hope you can join us again in the near future and we look forward to welcoming you. Kind regards,

Dear PeterhY9940SL, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following a recent spa break with us here at Greenwoods. We are delighted to learn how much you enjoyed your experience with us and have passed along your compliments to all of our team. Our chefs work hard to ensure that we offer an excellent selection of seasonal menus for all of our services and we are always pleased with the wonderful feedback we receive from so many of our guests, We can offer extensions to our check out times, subject to a fee and only on days that we have availability in our spa, but our reservations team are always happy to help with any such requests. We do hope to welcome you again soon. Kind regards,

What a rip off. I paid £115 for a 'spa day' experience and the whole thing leaves a very sour taste. Have to say that the food in the restaurant was great, along with the service but everything else was a major disappointment. They had over-sold the day so there were no beds available and it was very busy so you'd not have much chance of getting in the (very small) hot tub. The steam rooms weren't working. And just really, to call this a spa is a stretch. It's more like a small pool with a small sauna/jacuzzi and steam room on the side. The whole spa area feels very tired and does not justify this hugely inflated price for what you get. I have complained to them directly via email. Have followed this up twice and as yet 3 weeks later am still waiting for any kind of response from them. Pretty disgusted tbh. What a rip off and the radio silence to my complaint is beyond frustrating.

Dear Helen123, We have read your comments and discussed with our team. We must stress that we do not over sell our packages. We do have members who can access our facilities at certain points of the day and we obviously cannot control how many of them choose to do so on any given day. We don't know of any health club or spa in the country that guarantees a sun lounger per guest per day. We offer 2 sauna and steam rooms, 2 relaxation rooms in addition to our main lounge and spa lounge and pool area itself and combined with the treatments on offer we can ensure we provide excellent value for money on all of our packages. Our spa and hotel areas have all been renovated to a high standard in the last 2 years - our pool area was completely refurbished 12 months ago, as such we have never had any other feedback of this nature. We will ask our customer service team if they have received your email as they would always usually reply within 7 days if they had. Kind regards,
