I am a Marriott Bonvoy member, but have to say the standard of these hotels is slipping at lot. We stayed, and no one said at reception on booking in that the room would not be serviced as only done every 3 days. We had been out for the day and came back to a room with unmade bed, no topped up tea/coffee and the dirty cups from the morning. Asked reception why the room had not been serviced to be told they were done every three days. Really? This purports to be a four star hotel for which I'd expect a four star service. The service is that of a one star dive in the East End of London. If I wanted a one star service I'd have booked a flea pit in town. I booked the Marriott as we've normally had really good service from them, but this seems to be brought in across the board and if so, is a huge drop in standard. It does make me wonder if they treat their corporate clients with the same distain. Or if I'd stayed in one of the Mayfair/Park Lane Marriott's would I have had to put up with shoddy service, probably not. Reception claimed they were trying to be more sustainable and eco friendly with this. I'd say more to the truth is that they are cost cutting bit time as the girls are paid per room they clean, so a room not cleaned for three days costs the hotel chain less. A room that someone is staying in more than a few days only needs the sink wiping round with a damp cloth, the bed straightening, tea/coffee topping up. So how this is more sustainable I don't know. As I said cost cutting. Really thinking it might be time to find another chain of hotels that are prepared to treat customers as valued customers and not some trash that has come in from the street. Not impressed. If you want a truly four star visit look elsewhere, if you don't mind paying full whack for sub standard service then this is definitely for you.

I stayed for a week due to business.
Upon arrival I was told that I had to pay, even though my company had done all the bookings!
In the room, the Tea cup had residue, tea stains.
The TV kept switching it self off, so in the end it stayed off.
The heat pump/air con didn’t work. Eventually, on the 3rd time of asking (day 2) I was given a portable heater to warm the room.
Breakfast was good, nice variety.
Dinner, expensive.
Cheapest meal, fish and chips or burger at £19 approx £25 with a soft drink.
Evening meal not the greatest as well.

Would I stay here again, probably not.

Staff are polite and friendly,

Easy to navigate to, just off the M25 motorway, yet quietly tucked away for a relaxing night's rest. The hotel is older, but the room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bed. The Video system was slow to react and would not fully load the channel guide, which was a time waster. The lobby has a spacious feel with a soaring roof - and in the center is a lounge area perfect for a casual dinner - the kitchen made a great sandwich with fabulous fries. Breakfast was a comprehensive buffet. The hotel is not far from the town center, which showcases a church dating to the 8th Century for which the town was named.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel, as we attended a family function nearby. We had a family room which consisted of 2 double beds and a sofa bed. The room was large and spacious, perfect for the 4 of us. Everything was spotlessly clean. Beds were comfy and we all had an excellent night’s rest.

Breakfast was great quality, tasty and with plenty of choice of both hot and cold items. They had the usual sausages, eggs, bacon, beans, hash browns plus lots of pastries, fresh fruit, juices and cereal selections. You could also get an omelette made to order and there was a pancake machine which my daughter absolutely loved. The staff in the restaurant in particular were exemplary, so helpful, friendly and polite.

The hotel has a pool (didn’t use) and a large car park which cost £4 for 24hrs. There was also what I assume to be free parking on the road. We’re not very familiar with the area but it was a short drive from the main town centre and the location was quiet and very peaceful.

I genuinely cannot understand all the negative reviews. We thought this was one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in the UK for while with very little to fault. If I had to be picky, the shower pressure was weak and lobby was freezing cold due to the air on but that’s it!

We will definitely be returning, already planning our stay at Christmas when visiting family again. All in we had a fantastic time and loved our stay.

We visited the Marriot Waltham Abbey last year December with a group of friends and had a great experience so we decided to go back again this year December. We had a terrible experience from the start. We were a group of 11 they booked us accessible rooms when non of us had a disability. We had our rooms booked away from each other which was a bit of a stretch. The only facility they had was a gym, in the email they only informed us about the pool not being in use. Most of us returned this time because we had a very good experience at the hotels facilities sauna/steam and the pool. This was so disappointing as we could have had a choice to go somewhere else. Our Xmas dinner got cancelled for Saturday and we were offered Friday 19.00 as an option. Most of us could not make the Friday we had to request for a private room because we didn’t want to cancel our Xmas party. This was granted but there was so much confusion with the menus. Thanks to Casper who managed us that night he was very patient and understanding. The rooms were very cold with no AC we were offered radiators but the rooms we were given have only 2 sockets. I don’t think I can refer any one unless otherwise. On the other hand we met with some staff who were kind and very welcoming. Big up to Cameron the Night manager and your team. You made us comfortable though the conditions were out of your hands

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Waltham Abbey and providing your feedback. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. The pool and wet facilities were closed a couple of month ago with all reference, photos and mentions removed from our website at the same time, we also include the information about the pool course on our welcome letter so that we can alert all our guest especially the ones who stayed with us before prior to their arrival. I can totally understand your disappointment in regards to the cancellation of the Christmas Party on Saturday, please accept our sincere apology but this was beyond our control. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel teams for further discussion and possible improvements in the future especially in regards to the room allocations. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Essex

A very disappointing stay. We had been assured connecting rooms when booking. Upon arrival, we were told none were available so we had to change to a single family room. There was a leak in the room which woke us up in the middle of the night. At breakfast, when giving my room number, I was told that it was not a room number where breakfast was included in the booking, even though I knew that it was. I said I would drop by the reception desk after having something to eat to resolve it. The officious lady at breakfast then decided to bother me again during breakfast to ask if I had gone to reception yet to clarify. After breakfast, I walked over to reception, and the same lady thought it acceptable to escort me over to reception to check. Since there was nobody at reception, I went back to my room in order to call reception to of course confirm that breakfast was included. On the way back to my room, I passed the engineer in the corridor on the way to look at the leak. I said we would check out shortly so he could deal with it thereafter. At that point, the engineer commented "well this is my last job, before I go back to bed as I am ill". I suggested it was better in that case that we don't come into contact whilst in the room. All-in-all, a rubbish experience.

Not a great experience and wouldn’t be attending this hotel again. Was met with problem after problem. The hotel itself is a lovely place with stunning grounds and surrounding. The facilities within the faculty were up to standard for example the restaurant.

On arrival we was met with a 15 minute wait due to no staff being on reception at the time, (5pm). After checking in we were allocated to a room with a dirty bathroom and a used, unclean toilet. Throughout the night evening the receptionist did not answer the telephone and room service was a lot uncontactable. Our TV was slow and ended up being out of use due to a ‘problem with the internet’. Following from this, our room was reserved with a debit card online. On arrival I made it clear I wanted that card removed and would make a payment with a different card which was done and the payment accepted. The next day the hotel charged the original card again so payment was taken twice. I have now been calling the hotel for two days and Cannot get any answer.

Absolute awfully stressful weekend when it was supposed to be a relaxing getaway.

We love breakfasts and the breakfast at Waltham Abbey and Hanbury Manor are second to none!.
All the usual egg bacon etc but the poached eggs were done to perfection. The scrambled egg so creamy.
We tried the waffles and pancakes impressed with the Canadian maple syrup. Pancakes at the push of a button.
Toppings for cereals included chia seeds, sunflower seeds, dried apricots, nuts and almonds.
A wonderful selection of muffins and pastries.
Fresh fruit.. included Pink grapefruit watermelon oranges melon to name a few.
Good selection of fruit juices.
sausages were delicious.
Various breads and rolls
A great selection of coffees and teas

At Hanbury overlooking the golf course and at WA in the modern dining room.

An absolute must and highly recommended. Exceeded expectations !

This is a warning. I spent 20 minutes in the hotel car park to drop off my friends suitcase and on return from a 2 week holiday have been hit with a £100 fine for this 20 minutes , the signage in the dark was not clear that I had to pay. Clearly this is more than the cost of a stay at the hotel and a money making scam. For a car park in the middle of the countryside nowhere near London attached to a hotel you don't expect this. It is dissapointing that Marriot uses these scams

Dear FarAway52051676172, Many thanks for your feedback. Its unfortunate to read about your experience and we are sorry that you feel this way. I can assure you that there is no scam in regards to the parking charges, there are approximately 40 signages on the car parking advising visitor about the parking charges, 6 of these signages are placed at the entrance and exist of the parking it self just to insure any one visiting the hotel know exactly what they need to do and where and how to pay to avoid penalty (Photos of the signages have just been added to our page for guidance) Once again thanks for your feedback. What a gem this hotel is. Easy friendly check in, spotlessly clean, lovely little touches like the lemonade in reception. The room was lovely, spacious and modern. The toiletries were high end as well. Only downside is the air con, despite being at its lowest, it barely made a difference. Most days this wouldn’t be an issue but for once the sun came out and the room got really stuffy
