Travelling for business. I arrived very late but the owner Chris welcomed me with open arms and even brought me fresh milk for tea before bed. Lovely Bed & Breakfast. A little gem. Hope to return some day soon
I stayed at Deanfield in June and July 2020 and Christine and Nigel couldn't have been better hosts. A warm welcome on arrival (along with a fresh jug of milk for tea - lovely), with ample parking and plenty of consideration for ongoing Covid situations (i.e. anti-bacterial gel in the entrance hall, plenty of spacing out at breakfast, several tables and chairs outside for eating / socialising at a distance). For both visits I stayed on the ground floor in Room One, which was beautifully decorated and was nice and airy with a soft, comfortable bed, space to work at a dressing table (with a very good tea-tray to accompany it) and a lovely bathroom / shower room with nice-smelling toiletries and a good shower. It's worth noting that despite being on the ground floor and sleeping with open windows in the summer, there was nothing to disturb my sleep (such as noisy traffic) so that was a big plus also. Breakfast requests are filled out the night before and left with the hosts, so your breakfast arrives fresh and prompt when you sit down the following morning (although you don't feel rushed through, which is pleasant). Both of the breakfasts were absolutely delicious and you could really tell that the produce was fresh and local. Only negative of the place was that I didn't want to leave, and I am really hoping I get more work in the area so that I can stay again.…
My sister and I had to travel for a family funeral and stayed at Deanfield guesthouse. We were really impressed and would love to return. Clean, spacious room, lovely bathroom, delicious breakfast, and a warm welcome from Christine. As we had to travel in lockdown nothing was open but Christine was very kind and let us order takeway and laid up a table in the dining room for us. We are from the forest of Dean so know the area well, but for tourists this would be a great location to explore - you really are in the heart of the forest here. Beautiful surroundings.
Our stay at Deanfield was for an overnight break during a long trip to visit family. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to a delightful room overlooking the cricket field. Our room was well furnished with all necessary items provided and a very comfortable bed. There was good choice food for breakfast, both hot and cold, after which we resumed our journey after a highly satisfying break. Deanfield is worth staying at if you are in the Forest of Dean.
An immaculate guest house, where the service is excellent and the breakfast even better. I would definitely recommend a stay at this property. Close to the Forest of Dean with its cycling and walking potential.
