Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I can't criticise this hotel because it doesn't claim to be anything it's not. It's a very, very basic room above a pub. Would I take my wife? Absolutely not. It's a one night stop over for a gig in Manchester. What I would have expected is a reasonable mattress and a couple of pillows. I think that should be a standard requirement for any hotel. Unfortunately in this case the mattress was one you would buy for a kids bed for about £25 and the single pillow was very flat. The shower was fine. I had a sink and a kettle. No TV. I noticed some bedrooms looked nicer than mine with a TV. These are not complaints just observations. I would also pull out the large wardrobe in room 4 and put a desk and chair in the corner. A lot more useful than an old cupboard

For a number of reasons it was awhile since we had last been to this pub, but we had a great time on this latest visit. A few of us were off to the match so went in there before and after and had a really good time.

They seem to really want to look after their customers. The pool table was free, as was the jukebox and has provided our entertainment.

They have a selection of good beers even though this is at my favourite Brewery. The premium lagers are £6 a pint, but the bitter is only £3.50.

It is full of characters, and it really is a nice place to spend some time.

This is a pub we’ve used for years and we always enjoy our time there. It is an unassuming place with a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly clientele.

They have some decent beers on draft and it isn’t an expensive place. They also have lots of entertainment to keep you busy in the evenings.

Best of all, it’s very close to Salford Central train station so can prove a good place to spend some time if you just missed your train!

Awful pub and the accommodation is worse
Staff are nice however the owner landlord isn't. I would not recommend this as a place to go. Steer well clear
No soap in the toilets
The electrical sockets are hanging dangerously off the wall.

A group of us have started to use this Pub pre-match before we get the boat to Old Trafford. It is a non-nonsense place with great staff and some real characters in it.

It isn't my favourite brewery, but they do have a good range of drinks and the prices are quite reasonable. If you miss your train, I'll have some time to kill to wait for one it is right next to Salford Central Station which is a bonus as well.

They show all the sport on several TVs around the place and have live acts on in the evening. A really good place to spend a few hours if you are in the area.

This is a pub we have used many times over the years and always enjoyed our visits. It looked a bit rundown on the latest one, but it still has a good atmosphere and the locals are very friendly.

It makes a perfect place to have a quick drink before catching the train home from Salford Central – I bet this accounts for a fair number of customers there.

They do a wide range of drinks and could probably do with cutting it down the wheat beer I had was a bit flat and didn’t taste right. That’s an exception though and everything else was fine.

It’s a proper pub and it won’t be long before we have a return visit there.

We were passing through Salford as a trip down memory lane and stopped in at this pub. It has character (of a traditional kind) and a friendly local group of regulars. The beer was excellent and well kept (though the staff could have been more knowledgeable on them). The Holts was a complete throwback for me to the 1970s and the pints I remember drinking then. A revelation! The pub was a but like that too. The Holts was so good that we didn't even try the Oakham, Coniston or Hawkshead beers on offer. We didn't eat this time - but the locals were happy to recommend the food. Certainly worth visiting for a couple.

I popped in for a pint and ended up staying for three! This friendly local is a real find and excellent for popping into if shopping in Manchester as it`s just off the main Deansgate drag. Walk down to Salford Central station from Deansgate and the pub is just opposite the station side entrance. All three beers I tried were in excellent condition and the Holts was just £2.60 a pint! They have guest beers on which vary. I had Timothy Taylors Landlord and Coniston Bluebird. It`s a basic friendly local - not enough of these are left and they do food and accommodation.
