Stayed in a superior family room with double, single & extra bed. It was spacious enough for the 4 of us and the beds were really comfy.
Bathroom was a great size and modern.

The staff here are wonderful. Everyone from reception , bar, dining & cleaners, were all lovely (& all appeared to be really happy which goes a long way in hospitality! )

From the initial booking process I was really impressed. Very helpful with allocating a room for my parents with walk in shower & accessible by lift, as well as reserving a car parking space at the front of the hotel due to limited mobility.

Breakfast was very good and cooked to order so very fresh. We didn’t manage to eat here in the evening but the menus looked good.

Thank you all for a fabulous few days. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend to others.

Place and location were perfect! Service- Adrian, Edward and Charlotte delightful and great!
Free parking has been bonus.
Food- mixed reviews- sandwiches were dry but scone be were delicious, pastry yummy but chicken bland.

Rooms- to hot as very very small for family of 4 but bathroom looked new and was very good.

Would happy to have party again if they improve the food.

Sleep- one night manageable only due to size of the family room.

GOOD: Breakfast was well cooked, hot and appetising. Room (at the back) was nice and quiet. Room rates significantly better at Lysses than at comparable pubs and inns around the area. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Having free parking on site is an advantage over other sites.

NOT SO: Coffee at breakfast was weak and tasteless, and the coffee pot could have been warmer as the coffee itself was barely warm enough to drink. The instant coffee in the room was a better option. In the room (23), the bedding and towels were clean but had seen better days, and the duvet was too small for a double bed.

I booked the Georgian room for afternoon tea as my hen party for 13 of us. When I called to book and discuss options they were brilliant, extremely helpful and each time I called, immediately knew who I was and what the booking was. Sadly the service wasn't so great on the day. We turned up and told the bar person what our booking was and her reaction was surprised and was not aware of any booking. She shouted to her colleague if there a booking had been made. We were not made to feel welcome and felt we had put her out. Eventually the found the booking and explained the room wasn't made up and they spent the next 40 mins rushing round. We had to ask if the room was ready. Sadly even when we were all seated it seemed like we were annoying them by asking for the drinks. I wouldn't consider this beautiful location for a social occasion again purely on the service on the day.

Not our first visit but probably our last. A fairly typical older south coast hotel that now needs a complete refurbishment. It’s not completely awful, if you are on a budget, provided you can get the room at an attractive price.
Breakfast quality and service varied hugely over the 3 days that we stayed and to be safe I would probably suggest eating elsewhere.
The wife also got soaked at breakfast on day 3 when the water from the window cleaners hose came through gaps in the restaurants sash windows.
Just for good measure on two mornings of our stay we were joined in the restaurant at breakfast by an elderly gentleman in just his dressing gown, long socks and slippers? Not sure if he was a regular or even a resident but did find it all a little strange.

Went for the pre-theatre meal and were very pleased with it. Service was prompt and friendly, the food was tasty and well cooked (we had the soup followed by pork). We thought at £25 for three courses it was very good value. It was a short walk from the hotel to Fareham Live.

Overall we were disappointed with the hotel. A beautiful building outside belies mediocre accommodation. Our “Superior Double” room was at the top two steep flights of stairs. Very small bedroom but nice large bathroom. Not sure what superior means, but being a regular hotel user I would expect a few extras in a superior room, like bottled water. We were snootily advised that the tap water was drinking water, or we could buy some water from the bar! The bed was very comfortable but only a double, not a king size so was “cozy” for 2 of us. The tv in the room was a pleasant throwback to the early naughties and had a built in DVD…useful if you’re from 2002 and carry DVD movies with you.
I was hoping the interior would match the late Victorian exterior and whilst the period indeed in the 70’s it was more 1972 than 1872, with some fine examples of 70’s trendy furnishings. Breakfast was tasty but the service was a little haphazard but ok.
Overall, could be a beautiful place but requires investment and modernisation and need to look at the service levels. Not a bargain price either so there is probably better value for money elsewhere.

Our room which was on the ground floor was in desperate need of refurbishment, both the bedroom and bathroom are very dated, towel rack all rusty! Damp stains in bathroom and bedroom.
Also the rooms need to better sound insulated, when the people upstairs woke at 5:30 so did I, you can also hear everything from the hallways.
On check out we were told that only the first and second floor rooms had been refurbished prior to covid and if we were to stay again we should ask to stay in these rooms.
The breakfast was lovely and the staff polite and friendly.

Visited yesterday afternoon for my mother’s wake. From contacting reception two weeks ago to the actual wake, the staff were kind, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We booked the Titchfield package and were able to change our mind on numbers up to the last minute. On the day the food was plentiful, fresh and tasty. Teas and coffees were constantly replenished and jugs of water on the tables just seemed to miraculously appear full. Service by the staff was discreet and nothing was too much trouble. We asked for butter for the delicious scones as some people didn’t like cream and within minutes baskets of butter appeared. I would thoroughly recommend Lysses for any wake. Shame because my mum would have loved to be there.

Booked to stay on Saturday night as a family wedding taking place in nearby Southsea.

Called them the evening before our stay to ask if we would be able to check in early to get ready for the wedding which was at 3pm. James who took my call could not have been more helpful and cheerful. We were welcome to check in from 12 noon. James was also happy to arrange taxis for us from The Lysses to Southsea, he did this immediately, keeping me on hold for a moment then confirming this with me...such great service.

When we arrived on the Saturday, we received a warm and friendly welcome from the lady on reception. We could see the staff were all busy as they had a wedding reception that afternoon. We were helped to our room with our bags. The delightful lady offered to arrange for sandwiches and drinks to be brought to our room, even though they were not strictly open for food due to the imminent wedding reception. The sandwiches were delicious with lots of fresh salad.

When we returned late evening, we were received by another charming member of the team, all smiles and cheerful. Our room had been cleared of the plates and glasses.

The room itself had a double bed and a single, the bathroom had a large walk in shower, and a free standing bath, it was immaculately clean. The bed was not the most comfortable but adequate. The room had air con which was wonderful earlier in the day as it had been quite warm.

The hotel is well run, all the staff we met were so friendly and well mannered. It isn't plush, but very good value and clean, our full English breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent.

Also thanks to Mandy in house keeping, as our room was so clean.

The owner of The Lysses has a great team, they do you proud.

Yes, that's correct. Just ask at Reception how to use this benefit (we didn't, so I don't know what to do, but they clearly advertise the benefit in reception)
