Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great location. good breakfast, although small portion of cooked breakfast priced at £9 which includes a drink. The cleanliness and décor downstairs was of good standard, however the room we were in upstairs was a double, overlooking the car park, was dated and not clean. Bed linen was old and not crisp nor white. The pillows were poor quality. Bathroom sink and bath had not been cleaned with a cleaning product, as there was no shine and hairs in bath from previous customers stay! The bedlinen had bits on the sheets, similar consistency to sand, very off putting and old blood stained that had not come out of laundry properly. The towels however were very clean and of a good size. Mould present in windowsill, which needs attention and condensation on windows. Décor is tired. Very small room with little wardrobe space, ok for aweekend r with animals as it is a little neglected upstairs I feel. A strong smell of cannabis on arrival back to room at night. Overall a reasonable rate, but needs improving on cleaning standards and updating bed linen, pillows and decorating in lighter shades. A full length mirror will be helpful. Staff helpful, but rushed off feet as there taking orders and cooking.

Another great stay, manager and staff friendly and helpful as had to change booking to an extra adult plus one puppy. Food great, cooked fresh to order, over heard one couple disliking the wait for tea, reminded them it is cooked to order. Bed comfy, room clean, will be back in February. Thank you.

A very pleasant small hotel very conveniently situated on the outskirts of Fareham and from which one has easy access to the Portsmouth and Southampton areas. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, finding the accommodation clean and comfortable.

Firstly the positives. This hotel is nicely priced and in a good location. I received a warm greeting and all of the information I needed at reception. It was nice to have free parking and a novelty to have a cafetière in the room. I agree with many other reviews about the tiredness of the rooms and the furniture. It doesn’t really feel like a hotel in the room. It feels like a mate’s spare room you stayed in during the 1980s that you have returned to. To find it exactly the same. The styling in my room was very brown and I was tempted to think it might be dirty but it wasn’t. The cleanliness was fine apart from some dead bugs in the light fitting. If the bed was changed, the wallpaper torn down, a lock of paint given and some brighter colours it might be quite pleasant. This was a work trip. I would hope not to have to stay again but would do if necessary. I have been at worse. Which probably isn’t the warmest endorsement!

Very dissatisfied with this hotel we were charged £150 for one night with no breakfast. The room was shabby , furniture was so old fashioned , tatty and completely worn out. The bed was ancient and awful to sleep in and the bed linen that was supposed to be white was a dirty grey colour. The pillows were thin and lumpy from age. The room was hot and stuffy and all three windows had broken handles so unable to get any fresh air in the room. The bath was stained and shower curtain falling to bits. Mould around the windows and dust on the skirting’s. I have never been happier to leave a hotel and would definitely not return.

Read some reviews but I can say they must of stayed else where. Staff friendly, helpful, room clean tidy, food great and hot. Very handy for visiting family, lovely little bar and a great garden area. Will stay again.

Poor facilities. Furniture looked like it had been picked up from a thrift shop. Very 80s decor. No working space in the room (desk etc). Breakfast was poor considering the price. 6.50 for 2 rounds of bread, 2 bits of bacon and a singular sausage. If you have any issues with your stop the complaints emails are ignored and if you call to ask why your complaint is not being responded to the phone manner of whom said she was the deputy manager was terrible, very confrontational and aggressive on the phone. Sorry but I'd avoid. Much better places for less money.

I stayed here for a couple of nights on a business stopover. There is plenty of parking, free wifi and the room I had was clean and comfortable. It's not a five star luxury place, and a little dated in some areas, but overall not too bad. There is a Harvester about 100 meters away for a bit of reasonable pub grub. My only poor experience was the fire alarm going off at 2am due to "a faulty alarm in a single room". The hotel's response to the alarm was to be honest, not the greatest and perhaps something they could learn from. At least do a role call next time! My rule of thumb is asking myself would I stay here again? Possibly, yes, but I would also consider altenatives.

Good parking, excellent welcome, acceptable room. No cleaning whatsoever during our three night stay. Mugs and teaspoons never washed or replaced, hot drinks supplies not replenished, bins not emptied, bathroom never cleaned. Three attempts to overcharge me at checkout. Sloppy management, I think.
