Whilst the price for the Afternoon Tea at £24.95 per person seems to be in line with most hotels, unfortunately the price is per person. So a booking for two people means £50 regardless of what you have. Asking for one Afternoon Tea to share between two people is not honoured. The food that arrived was pretty standard stuff, and looked like one serving in comparison to every other afternoon tea I've had. Apparently you could 'order as many sandwiches and tea as you liked' - but this was never offered to us and our tea pots were never refreshed in the whole time we were there. When the bill was queried the manager was called and extremely defensive rather than apologetic about the misunderstanding. I feel the hotel should go a lot further to make customers aware of the price when they book. The house itself is pretty enough although there were preparation for events going on in most areas. The conservatory where the afternoon tea was served was nice and had lovely views of the gardens.

This is a beautiful hotel steeped in history The staff are so helpful and friendly In the morning you will be greeted by Eveline & Amber - these ladies are lovely and nothing is too much trouble We had a great evening in the bar with our family who live near by - sadly I cannot remember the names of the gentleman and lady who took great care of us and kept us entertained !! We ate in the hotel restaurant twice - you will not be disappointed To the management your staff are a credit to you - well done

This recently refurbished hotel is stunning. Many original features have been retained, yet overall it feels fresh, modern, comfortable and welcoming. The place has a fascinating history, which the current owners are keen to share with you. The staff are very helpful. Would highly recommend it for a function, a family reunion or a couple's break away.

Arrived our and settling down , one of the staff stepped in without knocking the door. But young man for his credit apologised when we were leaving! There was no place for the suitcases, we had to use small table as luggage stand and 2 chairs. That was only furniture apart from bed. There was no dressing table or chair for the ladies make up and hair. Bathroom had high up mirror but not appropriate lighting or anything to lay toilet bags or anything else. Restaurant was not particularly busy and service was poor no attention for detail of 4 star hotel. When ordered cheese plate to share as dessert - there was couple of slices cheap cheese and few biscuits. We had to ask waitress to supply us plates and knives and she replied ‘oh yes’ and she never game back. We had to help our selves from tables that were not occupied. As normal we wanted bill in our room and pen was forgotten we had to ask one! We waited no one game so decided to leave and both waiters ran out of ‘kitchen area. One shouted: ‘did you sign the bill’ and other one shouted ‘what’s your room number.’Both details was to be found. Very embarrassing as everybody could hear our room number. Not discreet behaviour for so called 4 star hotel. Breakfast was not good. When arrived next hotel, I realised that I left my phone extra long charging cable and international Apple charger behind. I tried to ring several times, no answer. Sent e-mails no answer! Second day I had 45 minutes to ring and ring, reception picked the phone and cut of. At last they answered and promised to send items by post. I got e mail reply and confirmation about posting. Almost 3 weeks and nothing so far arrived. We looked so much forward this splendid historical building and these small details spoiled our stay

Attended a friend's wedding over 15 and 16 October. We booked the rooms back in May and when we got there on the 15th of October we were shunted to the rooms in the stable area and not within the hotel. No explanation given., The standard of these rooms were not good compared to the ones within the main hotel. The bathrooms were shabby (no shaving plug point) and where my daughter stayed, it actually flooded. The disappointing thing was that there was no one to complain and we were charged the same rates. Breakfast was mediocre. On the positive side it was a beautiful location and building and the bar and breakfast staff were very good.
