Detailed Reviews
This small (3 double bedrooms) B&B is centrally situated right on the busy main road through Lyndhurst, easy walking distance from the restaurants and pubs in the town centre. We had a very warm and friendly welcome from hosts Judith and Nigel. Rooms were immaculately clean and looked newly decorated, all en-suite, comfy beds, good showers and with nice touches like fresh milk. Breakfast was generous and beautifully cooked. I stayed here with 2 friends so we had the place to ourselves. We had bikes with us and there is secure storage available for up to 3 bikes. Highly recommended.

Avalon House! What can I say other than sensational. For starters we were greeted by a text message informing us with directions to the b&b, also a time we were going to arrive was asked so they can prepare the room.
We were greeted and shown to the room in superb style!!
The room was perfect for the two of us and the amenities were not good they were brilliant. They ranged from the usual tea and coffee with fresh milk in a cold flask with packets of border biscuits. comfortable bed, wardrobe, dressing table with a mirror and two bed side lamps. The television was very smart and even included NETFLIX! Superb to watch a movie after a long day. beautiful en suite with a lovely clean shower toilet and sink all you could ask for and more!
The b&b is within walking distance from Lyndhurst a beautiful town in the heart of the new first, home to cafes serving cream teas, some pubs beautiful shops to browse around and even a sweet shop!
With the heath lands with horses roaming around a 10 minute walk this location for me is just right..!!!
Breakfast was included (obviously) and it was fantastic. A menu was given the day before and on it was a choice of a full English or a continental breakfast. Whichever you choose will be delicious! We chose the full English and boy was it delicious! With it free is cereal, fresh juices, yoghurts and toast! All with the tea or coffee. You have a choice of
time slots for breakfast so it can be served hot and ready for you before the long day ahead!
Cannot recommend this b&b highly very professional and welcoming people thankyou for the stay

Avalon House is in a great location, just a 5 minute walk in to the picturesque centre of Lyndhurst village, where there are plenty of shops, bars & restaurants, & it is also in a good spot for visiting Paultons Park, which is only a 12 minute drive away. Judith & Nick were lovely welcoming hosts, they emailed the day before to check arrival times and ask our names. The whole B&B was spotlessly clean. The two rooms we had booked were perfect for us, both with king sized beds. One had an ensuite shower room & the other a bath which was great as we were travelling with a 5yr old who likes to bath. They even had fans in the rooms which were much needed as it was warm weather. Tea & coffee with fresh milk was provided in our rooms, also good Wifi & Netflix if wanted too. The cooked breakfast was yummy (with larger portions if required) & set us up well for the day. We had a great 2 night stay at Avalon House & we would definitely book to stay again. Thank you!

Hi Kaz, and thank you so much for your fabulous review! Its always nice to hear from our guests when we get things right for them. And the fact that you appreciated all the facilities and services Avalon House has to offer was an added bonus. It was a real pleasure to host you, Greg, Carrie and of course, little Leo. Unfortunately, children rarely stay with us so we try to make the most of it when they do! We hope that you had an enjoyable time on the Isle of Wight, and look forward to welcoming you once again. Best wishes, Nick and Judith

Had a nice welcome and room although small, had everything we needed and was clean with nice touches. Breakfast was laid out nicely and was plentiful, however when eating my cooked breakfast i found a large black hair wrapped around my bacon! I immediately retuned it and the landlady apologised and then said" Oh that's one of mine I should wear a hair net" I'll put the breakfast on a clean plate! Obviously I couldn't eat it being the same food that had the hair on. I don't feel the situation was dealt with very well, surely a fresh breakfast should have been offered or some sort of deduction for the fact I went without and my wife was also put off her breakfast.

My wife and enjoyed a nights stay at Avalon B&B and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The b&b is conveniently located in the heart of the New Forest, so places of interest are well within easy driving distance if your visiting the New Forest or Hampshire in general. The attractive town of Lyndhurst is only a few minutes walk away so you can leave the car behind and stroll into town which has an abundance of places to wine & dine.
The accommodation its-self is clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was tasty and well cooked, no problems there. Judith and Nick where oblivious working hard to make everyone's stay enjoyable. Remember, our stay was in the mist of the Covid-19 pandemic and all should know how difficult it is to manage guest accommodation and keep everyone comfortable and safe. Well done both.
We hope to repeat our stay in the not too distant future.

This traditional B&B is situated along side a very busy and noisy main road. The proprietor welcomed us at the front door and proceeded to give the fastest check-in I’ve ever encountered … fine by me. The room was “cosy”, clean with plenty of hot water and strong WiFi.
You have to order Breakfast the night before (excellent as it cuts down waste/cost). It was cooked freshly in the morning, nice and crispy, how I like it, no grease at all.
We paid a good price for this comfortable stop-over. Get there early as there are only 2 car parking spaces between 3 rooms. Also take your earplugs as the traffic noise is constant throughout the night.

We stayed here 3 nights over the Bank Holiday beautiful little B&B it has 3 rooms of ample size that our well presented with everything you need very clean. I tend not to sleep well on a different bed but 1st night slept very well along with the over 2 nights the breakfast was plentiful and very well cooked. In an ideal location for a short walk to shops and restaurants in Lyndhurst.
Both Nick and Judith were great hosts helpful with ideas of things to do or places to go or eat. And interested how your previous day had been . We would recommend a stay here to anyone.
Thank you again Peter and Rebecca

Hi Peter, and thank you so much for your fantastic review! Judith and I are always grateful when our guests take the trouble to tell us about their experience at Avalon House. And it's a pleasure to know just how much you and Rebecca enjoyed your time with us. Congratulations on your 20th anniversary! Should you return to the New Forest, a very warm welcome awaits here. We recently returned from a lovely 3 night stay at Avalon House. Judith and Nick are very friendly and welcoming. The property is nicely decorated and very clean. Our bedroom was very comfortable with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower cubicle. The breakfast is freshly cooked, plentiful and delicious - it really sets you up for the day! Lyndhurst is a great place to stay to explore the New Forest. Whilst it has a busy road running through it, this did not bother us at night when we were sleeping. There are lots of shops, pubs and restaurants within an easy walk of Avalon House, which is great in the evenings as there is no need to drive anywhere. This was our first stay at Avalon House and we will definitely be returning. Debbie & Don

We decided to take advantage of good weather and have a last minute one night break in the New Forest. Avalon was one of the few places willing to accept a one night booking. The house is situated a five minute walk from the centre of Lyndhurst and although their car park was full there was free parking in the road outside. There are many walks in the forest beginning from the outskirts of the town - perfect for an early morning or late night walk.
Our room was of a good size, well equipped and comfortable. The shower was good with plenty of warm water. Situated at the back of the house the room was quiet. Breakfast was ample and cooked to order, served between 8.30 and 10.00. My wife's gluten free diet was well catered for. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. A definite recommendation for a relaxing stay

Really cannot recommend this lovely B&B enough. We felt so welcome upon arrival, even the day before Judith messaged us to advise directions and ask what time we would be arriving so she could have everything prepared for us. The rooms are brilliant and such a nice size. There is also a smart TV in the room so great for YouTube, Netflix etc. Bathroom is also a really good size, and great shower! We both slept so well as the beds were so comfortable. Breakfast the next day was also lovely and so much choice and is cooked freshly to order. You can also have tea, coffee, toast with various jams, cereals and fresh juices. Overall we really loved our stay here and would 100% stay again!
