Nestled in the picturesque New Forest, Red Shoot Camping Park has earned accolades for its pristine condition and array of amenities, including diverse shops and dining options. The staff's warmth and helpfulness are frequently highlighted, contributing to the campsite's inviting atmosphere, although opinions on the overall vibe are split; some cherish the tranquility, while others find the environment a tad strict.
Accommodations like the Byre garner praise for comfort, prompting guests to book return visits. While views on value differ, with some criticism of extra costs and shop prices, the consensus on location and cleanliness remains high.

Detailed Reviews
This is our 13th year camping at the Red Shoot Camping park and it’s the highlight of our year!
Our kids (now 18, 16 and 11) get as excited as they did when they were little and now enjoy bringing their friends who love it just as much as they do. So we now book two pitches!
From the moment you arrive Jacqui and the amazing team of wardens and staff are so welcoming.
The campsite is beautiful and well looked after and the showers and toilets are immaculate and there is always hot water! There are great facilities - a reasonably priced, well stocked shop and a wash room with washing machine and tumble dryer which is essential as we come for two weeks!
The pitches are all a really good size. We camp with another family and we have always been next to each other, although I would recommend booking early as it can get booked up in the summer holidays.
The location is perfect, step out of the campsite and you are in the middle of a picturesque part of the New Forest with lots of walks and bike rides on your doorstep.
It’s the perfect location to explore the south coast with beaches and attractions within easy reach.
There is a pub next door serving great food if you fancy a night off from cooking and during the holidays there are weekly visits from a pizza and fish and chips van which I can highly recommend.
If you are looking for a beautiful campsite in the heart of the New Forest then I can’t recommend a better place than Red Shoot.
We are already looking forward to next year!

Wow! Thank you so much for this great review, it's made our day! We've enjoyed watching your lovely girls grow up over the years and it's a real pleasure to see them as young adults introducing their friends and partners to our little corner of the New Forest. We all look forward to the arrival of the Mackrill family and know that summer has truly arrived when you trundle over the cattle grid. Roll on 2025!

This was our second stay at this site, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything is very clean, tidy and well run. The grass is immaculate, they even seem to cut it using a collection box, so you don’t continuously tread grass cuttings in your tent.
The toilet block was always clean, there hot water when needed and even though the site was busy, the facilities appeared to cope with demand.
The pub and choice of mobile caterers who arrived everyday or so, was a welcome bonus. With other pubs located nearby and well as the amenities to be found in Ringwood, there was plenty of choice all within easy reach.
The has strict rules which may be unwelcome for some, but I guess are necessary to run a good site. Staff were generally a happy, helpful bunch and were very visible.
Our only grumble would be the website which doesn’t actually allow you to book and pay for your stay and the cockrel from the neighbouring farm which started its crowing at 3am every morning during our week long stay!

Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us and for giving us 5 stars! We're very pleased that you found the facility block so clean and our team to be happy and helpful. We're sorry about our neighbours cockrel, one of the very few down sides of being in the countryside!

We stayed here over the king's coronation weekend. I was apprehensive due to the booking procedure and some negative reviews. I thought the booking procedure was unlike any I've done before and I was worried about the size of our pitch as they want to know your exact tent. I do however think it makes perfect sense and I needed not to worry, our pitch was an excellent size for our tent and tarp, and there was good space between tents and even still some empty pitches. The site is very well maintained, with plenty of water points. Toilets/showers were the best kept I've ever been to. The showers had a separate changing section with an area to keep your things dry. Again not seen this anywhere else. The Family room was useful for showering the kids and had a shower, sink and toilet, and plenty of surface space. There was however no way of controlling the shower temperature and it was quite hot for my kids. We took the kid's bikes, and they were fine cycling around, there were quite a few children that had their bikes. The camping shop was well stocked and also had lots of little kids toys well priced. They also sell camping logs that you light. You are allowed to burn these as long as off the ground. We didn't take our firepit as there are no campfires allowed but we had one of these on our bbq to do marshmallows one night. We ordered pastries for the morning we were due to pack up. These were really good and better than I was expecting. You order them in the shop the day before you want them. The play area is tucked away at the entrance. It is a very nice area, small but lots for kids to do. It is adult accompanied. The pub although a separate business was a massive plus point for booking this campsite. We visited for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. This area of Newforest is beautiful with walks and nature just out of the campsite. Take ear plugs as the dawn chorus was loud and we were by a hedge full of sparrows which I love, but not at 4.30 am. The staff were friendly. I literally can't wait to come back next year and I loved this campsite.

Many thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed review of your recent stay with us. We're so pleased that despite your initial reservations, you and your family enjoyed your time with us and are looking forward to your next visit. The dawn chorus is at its glorious best at this time of year, it's a beautiful sound but we agree, 4.30am is a little early so earplugs are a good idea! The whole team look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Whoever is in charge of running this campsite would likely do a better job of running our country right now, everything is well thought out, planned, user-friendly and is running like a clock.
The staff is well-natured and on a ball, everyone knows what's going on, the reasonably priced shop is well stocked ( with freshly baked pastries in the morning), kids run around, play safely and happily and go to sleep on time. There are spare hook up charging leads and probably other handy things that you may have left at home, not to mention the consistently clean washing facilities. And the whole campsite, it's safely fenced in, surrounded by trees and sort of cute, 'cottagevibe' way, converted bus, wagons and even a nice pub on its doorstep with Morris dancers and things, a little Fish 'n' Chip van driving in some evenings.
Given all of this, the site is fairly priced I think, and so, busy.
If you like wild camping vibe, like staying up talking and laughing loud into the night with your friends, kids running and playing late too, for all of you to then wake up to sprawling views and no other vehicle staring you in the face ( tho maybe a dirty shower if at all to face later) , then Red shoot is not for you, as no place can be all things to all people ( so 4* for people to notice and match themselves with site well, otherwise it'd be a 5* )

Many thanks for your great review of our site. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay and would be flattered that you feel we could do a good job of running the country if it wasn't for the fact that a toddler could probably do a better job than the current and recent incumbents! Your comments re. matching the site to your needs is particularly pertinent as parks vary hugely in the way they are managed so a little research beforehand ensures that both you and the park owners and their team all have a harmonious time during your stay. We very much look forward to welcoming you again and thank you once again for your great review!

Absolutely incredible campsite! We have been camping for years and this knocks all other sites out the park. Extremely impressed from beginning to end and cannot wait to return. It was our first visit and I’d highly recommend this site.
The entire site is immaculate! The staff work incredibly hard day and night to maintain the high standards and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ve never seen campsite toilets, showers and kitchens so clean. Even the bins and recycling area were clean!
The site was peaceful, homely and very safe. We stayed Wednesday - Sunday. Like any site during school term time the weekdays were quieter but even at almost full capacity on the weekend the campsite had a pleasant buzz about it and noise was under control.
All the wardens were friendly and very approachable. They welcomed the whole family, remembering names and asking about our day. The family toilet was very useful for us with our children, we never queued for toilets or showers.
Best part of all was the extremely large size of the pitch and the amount of space between tents/motor homes. We’ve stayed on sites were they cram you in which is uncomfortable.
We visited the pub once. It was ok, nothing to rave about. I personally wouldn’t recommend eating there but definitely nice to pop in for a drink.
The shop was probably the best site shop I’ve seen, stocking absolutely everything and anything needed. Beware lots of toys, sweets and ice cream before entering with children.
Ok so little tiny issues - a couple of mornings we had to keep pressing the shower water button until hot water came through, it took a while but we got there eventually. We thought fires weren’t allowed but Friday and Saturday night 1 pitch lit a raised fire pit which stunk out the site. It was a shame as the damp wood they used smoked us out. The baked on site bakery was a little underwhelming and quite pricey but better than nothing.
Overall HIGHLY RECOMMEND and cannot wait to return!!!

Stayed as a family for the first time in 8 years. Lovely site in a fabulous location although this does make access tricky with a caravan so be prepared!
We weren’t sure exactly where our pitch started and finished as the site is quite open plan - we do usually prefer to have a bit more privacy but others might not mind this.
The shop is fantastic and stocked with everything you could possibly need including books to buy and borrow. It’s also great that it’s open until 7pm in high season.
The pub was a real bonus for us and although we thought it would be closed during the afternoons, while we were there, we were pleasantly surprised that it was open.
If the site had a few more things such as more sinks (they only have 3 that I could see which meant people had to queue in the mornings and when there are so many tents, 3 sinks doesn’t seem enough). Also every time I went to the showers in morning the floor was covered in mud and grass - I understand they do a deep clean at 11am but the odd sweep in between would make it much more pleasant. There were also only 2 hand dryers next to the sinks so if the sinks were being used you couldn’t easily get to them.
Otherwise we had a lovely time.

Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us, your feedback is much appreciated. We're glad that, you enjoyed your stay and were particularly pleased to hear that you found the shop so useful. With regards to your comments about the sinks, we're not sure which ones you are referring to, we have 5 washing up sinks as well as 8 sinks in the ladies, 9 in the gents, one sink in each of the accessible bathroom and the family bathroom and a sink in the laundry room making a total of 25 in all on site. Would you be able to contact us directly so we can better understand which area you felt didn't have enough sinks? Our facility block is deep cleaned at 11am every day and checked another 4-5 times throughout the day and evening. At each check, as well as topping up loo roll and cleaning sinks, showers and toilets, the floors are swept but as you will appreciate, on very wet days, especially when the grass has recently been mowed, it can be challenging to keep the floors as spotless as they might be on a dry day but we will endeavour to up our game in response to your comments! Best wishes from The Red Shoot Team

I can't praise this campsite highly enough! It truly has everything you need for an unforgettable camping experience, which is why we've returned year after year. This marks our 12th consecutive year! The staff are incredibly friendly, the facilities are spotless, with clean toilets and lovely showers that are always well-maintained. The campsite itself is beautifully kept, with lush, green spaces that are perfect for relaxation and play. The on-site shop is well-stocked with all the essentials. Our children have grown up here—making lifelong friends, learning to walk, and riding their first bikes. Even our eldest, now nearly an adult, still chooses to join us. Thank you, Red Shoot Camping, for making our summers so perfect!

We were with caravan and tent for the children. For this we had to reserve 2 spots (as the only campsite during our trip). This made the campsite a bit more expensive. A nice campsite with clean sanitary facilities. It is located in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve. Unfortunately no 4G and wifi had to be paid per 24 hours per device.

This was our 1st visit and was impressed with a number of aspects, although it's not the most relaxed of environments despite the beautiful and tranquil location.
The site is clearly well maintained to a very high standard, and the shower block was exceptionally well looked after. There is a shop on site and an excellent pub next door and some great walks nearby.
I would heartily recommend it if you like a quiet location and keep yourself to yourself.
Now, the warning......
Prepare yourself for the rules and constant barrage of reminders, via the notices and patrols from the moment you arrive.
I do recognise that they have to cater for the lowest common denominator and I'm sure they will argue thier approach is needed to keep the site so well maintained, however the tone is very much like being back at School and frankly does not create the kind of environment that allows for a fully relaxing stay.
Whilst it did not apply to all staff, there was a clear ethos that permeated through the staff and frankly with a small adjustment could be delivered in a far more respectful, friendly engaging tone rather than the dogmatic style we experienced and for that, despite the many postives about the site, would prevent us from returning.

Many thanks for reviewing your recent stay with us. We welcome all comments, both positive and not so positive and always to try to improve based on feedback where we can. We're delighted that you found our site clean and well maintained and enjoyed the walks and wonderful location . In response to your comments about our rules, these are in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our visitors. We believe there was an issue with some of your group's understanding of our pitching instructions. It is critical, from a health and safety perspective, that these are adhered to and if you have ever experienced a fire on a camping park, you would certainly understand why. Our wardens are trained to comply with our site licence rules which are set by our local authority, they are always pleasant and courteous (as born out by the vast majority of previous reviews) but will be firm when required. Our 10.30pm noise policy is for the enjoyment and comfort of all our visitors and many people choose us with the expectation of a peaceful night's sleep so it is important that we do remind people when it is clear that they are disturbing others. We're sorry we weren't for you and hope you find a park that suits your needs better.
