Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful hotel! We stayed here for my birthday and were very happy to find out we had been upgraded to the Fig suite when we got there. It had a lounge area and its own private garden, but most of all it had the most beautiful ensuite bathroom with his and hers sinks, a freestanding bath and walk in rainforest shower. I'm not sure the hotel realised how welcomed this was - we're currently going through renovations and have had no shower for the past 6 months! The room was absolutely stunning and there were lovely touches such as home-made sloe gin, Montagu flapjack (which was delicious) and chocolate bark which had been made locally. There was also a birthday card for me, which was such a lovely touch. The staff were also very attentive - the man on reception during the Monday evening gave us complimentary olives and shortbread to take up to our room (alongside our gins) and when we checked out we were given a bag with water and apples for the journey home. It's the little touches like this that make you remember a hotel. I would definitely stay in the Montagu Arms if I was visiting the New Forest again.

We have not felt more welcome in a hotel. The service , facilities and food were of the highest standard. The hotel is very dog friendly but not at the expense of other guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and do recommend this hotel which is situated in a lovely part of the country.

More details and family-friendly reviews on my blog 'The Frenchie Mummy' and on Instagram @thefrenchiemummy. So Google it and have a look there too. Merci! We recently stayed at the Montagu Arms with my family and what a beautiful weekend! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and our family room was so spacious. The bathroom was fabulous with a modern decor. It's in such a beautiful location too, we love exploring Beaulieu and the nearby Motor museum. The classic British breakfast was delicious and the service was also excellent! My son was so happy with his pain au chocolat and it's beautiful to look at the garden while you have your food. We really enjoyed our stay, everything was made to feel relaxed, thank you so much!

We married at the Montagu Arms a year ago and decided to return for our anniversary. We received an incredibly warm welcome from Olaf who remembered us from our wedding day, this alone was wonderful, but to also be surprised with the same room we spent our wedding night in was such a special touch. What sets Montagu Arms apart from the many other hotels I have stayed at is that this sort of experience seems to be completely representative. Even when we went for afternoon tea almost 3 years ago, the staff went out of their way to make the experience special at the same time as being relaxed and welcoming. We look forward to many return trips. We also went to the Spa at Carey's Manor, which is their sister hotel, it's about 10-15 minute drive away through the forest and that too was a great experience.

A great dog friendly hotel, the staff were all great but a special mention should go to Louise and Emma on reception who were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond. Paul the bar man also was good always smiling and willing to help always got my dog some water. The room was clean and had everything you needed, the bed was firm and pillows comfortable. Breakfast had a good choice and again lovely staff. Would happily return.

Had a lovely stay for Valentine’s would highly recommend this hotel and especially the restaurant which serves superb food. We also had an amazing Valentine’s lemon Meringue cocktail in the bar. The hotel also gave us a free room up grade with a view of Beaulieu Palace house.

Lovely friendly hotel. Comfortable rooms and beds. Breakfast was good quality. Lots of choice. Fresh juices, fresh pastries. Super cup of tea! Monty’s restaurant served a very good choice on the menu. Even had alcohol free wine. Though service a bit slow. Would come again.

We visited the hotel today and had a very pleasant few hours at Monty’s . Cally looked after us extremely well and was so friendly and professional . She knew her products really well but made us feel right at home and our two puppies 🐶 . We loved Beaulieu and have never visited the village before and its picture postcard perfect . Thank you so much x

Love this hotel. It’s a lovely setting in a great village - near everything in New Forest. Stayed here 25 years ago and still beautiful. Great service and lovely food. Our room was great. They also provided a nice surprise for our anniversary.

My friend and I stayed at the Montagu Arms Hotel, as two single women and a dog, as part of a Christmas 4-day package. We had a truly fabulous time. The rooms were lovely and immaculate and the food truly delicious. The hospitality from the staff was exceptional- special mention and thanks to Olaf, Paul and Jonathan, who have all worked for the hotel for many years - a real testament to the hotel, as they genuinely are a very happy team. We were a bit concerned that we may be isolated over the Christmas break, but couldn’t have been made more welcome by staff and numerous other guests! My friend’s little pooch was equally well looked after. Finally we were presented with a fab Christmas hamper, filled with local and thoughtful goodies. We definitely will be returning - a huge thanks to all the staff.
