Beautiful historic building in a picture postcard village. We have stayed here many times when visiting family over the last few years and it never disappoints. The bedrooms are a bit dated, but this is adequately reflected in the reasonable prices they charge. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms well equipped. Dinner and breakfast are excellent and good value for money. We are looking forward to our next stay.

We used Two Brewers bed and breakfast for a recent trip to Harry Potter World as a family of 4. The establishment was very convenient for travelling to Harry Potter World & also close to transport amenities for a day trip into the Capital. The was a car park at the rear of the hotel, which felt very safe & also had CCTV available. The staff we engaged with at Two Brewers were fabulous, absolutely no concerns with this. The food and drink available in Two Brewers was also lovely and reasonably priced (especially the childrens menu). There was an issue with the Internet when attempting to pay for one meal, but this was just added to my room until the Internet came back on. The only negative about the visit was the room. Although the beds comfortable, cracking heating, warm water, all the amenities.(iron, kettle, fan, extra plug in radiator) The room could do with a refurbishment. It was very tired and dated. The bathroom you could tell had plenty of "patched up" jobs. There was evidence of water damage around the bath, mould build up (due to lack of air circulation) on the ceiling and the toilet heavily stained around the UBend (again just historical water damage). The actual space in the room could have been better managed (two singles linked together, so the fitted bed was massive) and then a sofa bed, not leaving much floor space once that was deployed. There was too many little tables, which didn't serve any purpose. It would have been better organised to have a bunk bed and a proper king size bed, giving more usable space. There was a distinct lack of sockets in the room, so these where also a premium between the 4 of us.

Sadly this wasn't all that worth it. Booked here as part of a virgin experience and our room bathroom was covered in mould, didn't look very clean. There was an odd smell throughout the hotel. Not only this, but there was a continuous clicking sound throughout the night, so I barely slept. The hallway also had wasps flying, cobwebs and mould. Then when I was getting breakfast, maybe because I was alone and look young, I was waiting over ten minutes, so I decided to go through to my own table. I sadly had to call over to a waitress to explain I had been waiting to be served, the restaurant wasn't busy at the time so it was a bit of a let down. I was also given a dirty fork. I did speak to two members who were really friendly hence I gave this a 2.

Very disappointed with our stay. This was booked as a birthday treat and if we hadn't had a meal booked for later we probably wouldnt have stayed once we saw the state of the room. We had to change rooms as the radiator wouldn't work despite 2 of the lovely staff trying to fix it. I was surprised that this hadn't been checked before we booked in as it was a very cold day. I did notice the first room was very tired and dated - the furniture was worn and the bathroom had black mould marks on the ceiling so I was happy to change rooms. Our next room was spacious and the radiator worked but it gave off very little heat. The room was similar to our first one - very shabby and dated. The bathroom had mould marks on the bath sealant, the grout on some of the bath tiles was stained and the towel rail didn't work, even though it was switched on - the connection was loose and looked broken. The bathroom was freezing as a result. I did mention this when we went for our meal. The aluminium coating on the bath grab rail had flaked off in parts. All these things gave the bathroom a very tired, shabby and unloved appearance. Wallpaper in the bedroom had been stuck back down in parts and the carpet by one side of the bed looked like moths had eaten it. I also found some long black hairs on the pillow and duvet. The bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress dipped in the middle and it creaked every time you moved. Some of the individual issues could be seen as minor but taken as a whole they left us with a very bad impression - not the great birthday treat I had expected. The room in this state was not worth the money at all. In contrast the bar and restaurant area were lovely - cosy fires, a great atmosphere, tasty food and very friendly/helpful staff. The hotel side, from what we experienced, really lets this venue down and we would not stay there again. I have seen quite a few other older reviews which mention out of date rooms and bathrooms but nothing seems to have done about the feedback to rectify the issues.

The Wife , & i .. stayed here for 3 nights recently .. quite honestly i can't wait to return . All be it - a bit dated /tired in "some" areas , the 2 brew' offers a comfortable bed , friendly helpful staff , a nice vista out front .. & situated in a quiet calm part of our countryside .. plus "THE" best sausages that have ever passed my lips . One minor point of comment ( not complaint ) , is that a few bob could be spent on longer shower hoses ( in room 209 anyway ) .. as they must have been based on Ronnie Corbett sized people .. the shower head having to be used OFF rail to reach upper body parts ( after lowering head ) . All in all , we loved our stay here though . A special mention to the breakfast ladies Coral + Melissa .. 2 hard working individuals who have their work cut out at times .. but do it brilliantly .. & moreover pleasantly . Thank you both so much , our day was always off to a good start .. after your personable service . Not forgetting also staff members Kate , Aron , Zak , Nip ( on special secondment from head office ) , the Welsh chef .. & any others who's names i have either forgot or probably not met . You all made our stay enjoyable , & appreciated your hard work .. & the staff history lessons regarding this 15th century property ( hence the above TITLE ) . Thank you one , & all ( not forgetting the cleaners too !! ) !! .

Waited 20 minutes for someone to even come to the check in desk. Waited a further 15 minutes waiting for someone to even attend the bar. The breakfast was stressful as it was busy and 2 ladies were trying to deal with everyone (not buffet). They kept telling us they were serving other customers when we asked for help but they never came back to us. Then suddenly there were 4 staff who came to clean up - one said - 'we are clearing up now because we need to get ready for lunch' as if it were our fault that we had been so long at breakfast. So the service is abysmal and the staff rude. The location is lovely and the bed was very comfy. It screams budget in the room though.

Stayed one night to attend a local party. Sunday morning 8:10am the fire alarms went off. My friend and I made our way toward reception as no staff could be seen. There were two staff standing at reception chatting like nothing had happened. We needed to ask if it was a real activation/false alarm or text. Twice before they confirmed "Oh, it's probably someone using a shower with the bathroom door open....". No hi vis, no fire marshalling, no advice without being probed for information. It appeared that they hadn't actually checked for fire, so I assume this must be a regular occurrence. BUT it should still be investigated. Of note it seems that none of the bathrooms have extraction fans - all internal bathrooms without windows should have extraction. I believe it's a legal requirement. It seemed a little scary that they were showing no concern and were not following any procedures of any sort. With other issues like peeling wallpaper and damp walls in places it's not a place I'd consider in a hurry to stay in again. On a positive the breakfast was tasty, quality and filling.

We started using this hotel about 10 years ago. We are very familiar with the area and liked to use this hotel as our base when we're in England. We have probably stayed in this hotel at least 10 times over the years and housed many family members in this hotel when our parents passed away. Sadly, we've watched it go from quaint to decrepit. It was unusally cold when we arrived but they had evidently turned the heat off in the wing that we were staying. The radiator was cold. They had a stand alone heater but that couldn't handle how cold the room was. We asked for another heater which they took out of another unoccupied room - but that was a heater for a bathroom . . . . not really something to warm an entire room. When we asked for an additional blanket, they gave us something that was akin to a beach towel. The foyer to the building was frigid. The rooms have not been updated. The bathrooms are very, very old (tired) and there is mold/mildew growing around the grout. The shower is not warm. . . . . once again, I think they had turned off the radiators on that wing and everything was cold. Whenever the water was warm enough to use, then the water pressure dropped to a trickle. The only positive in this experience was that the gal that checked us in was very pleasant. And the location is a good location in a quaint village. This hotel is beyond tired! Sadly, last time we will be using this hotel.
