When we arrived there was a notice that the reception was closed and to call a number to book in. The owners wife arrived about 5 minutes later. She gave us as large bag of breakfast provisions - porridge, croissants, muffins, cereal bars, apples, juice and tea/coffe sachets.
The room was a lovely large room with a comfortable sofa bed for our son. There bathroom was large and a lovely hot shower.
If I'm being really picky the room furnishings looked a little tired, but on the whole the room was light, airy and clean.
The price included breakfast which was lovely. Even the continental breakfast is lush, with fresh fruit salad, compote, yogurts and freshly baked croissants.
The host was lovely and accommodating and it felt like going to someone's home where they want you to have plenty to eat before you leave!
The outside is quite noisy due to its location and I opened the windows, realising after that a fan had actually been left in our room.
I think it is important to note that it is more of a B&B than a hotel and if rated as a B&B fully deserves its rating of a 5 star review.
Good continental breakfast. All you need for a comfy stay.
You need to pay extra for cooked breakfast, but toast and cereals, pastries and yogurts and fruit are included in room rate.
Nice clean bathroom. Decent sized space in the rooms.
The breakfast was delicious and there was a large selection to choose from e.g. veggie, full english, cereal etc. We had the cooked breakfast and it was very yummy.
The lady who was serving the breakfasts was very polite and kind.
You can tell the Manager loves what he does, he was extremely helpful and lovely to have a chat with.
We decided to visit the Boxmoor Lodge based on previous glowing reviews, and we are so so glad we did stay with them.
Thank you to all the team who made our stay fantastic.
"5 mins walk to the train station, and you could be in London in about 20 mins. It's maybe a 15 mins walk in to Hemel Hempstead town centre."Read full review
