We stayed here for 3 nights for our first visit to the Isle of Wight and loved it. The hotel is in a great location in Cowes, with the town centre, shops, restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance. We didnt park on their drive but there was plenty of spaces on the road outside. The room was really well furnished and a lot of thought had gone into providing everything that you could possibly need. The breakfast was delicious and the use of local produce is a lovely touch. Although you had to order breakfast the evening before this was not a problem for us and the breakfast was served, freshly cooked at your chosen time. Having things like fresh milk available for tea & coffee, ice & lemon and the water machine are lovely touches and I took the opportunity to buy some of the local gin from them too. We would definitely recommend it.

This place saved our trip to the IOW!

After checking out of a terrible hotel we had booked for our trip after one night, we found The Caledon. And are we glad we did!

Although the hosts weren't there when we arrived (contact less check in), the house spoke for them. Welcoming and homely. Decor exactly to our tastes.

Clean, bright beautifully decorated room with gorgeous complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels and robes and everything you could possibly need and more provided in the room. Comfortable bed. Quiet location. Excellent system for booking brekkie (QR code). Parking available with a courteous system to avoid blocking people in.

Mark was very friendly and cooks a gorgeous breakfast to boot! They're also helping local businesses by showcasing local artists and crafts in the reception room.
What's not to like?! Can't recommend this place highly enough.
If we come back we'll be booking again!
Thanks Mark!

My wife and I stayed at the Caledon Guest House in West Cowes for four days in September 2020. It was a superb establishment, and provided a great base for our holiday on the Isle of Wight.
The Guest House was situated in West Cowes, a 10-minute walk from the Red Jet Ferry Terminal. Despite being on a main road, the surroundings were relatively quiet. A bus stop could be found right outside the house, and a frequent service on the No.1 bus ran to Newport, which acts as the central hub for buses to all parts of the island. In addition, the entrance to the Floating Bridge, which connects West and East Cowes across the Medina River, was only a few minutes’ walk away at the bottom of the road.
There were quite a few restaurants in West Cowes, and as we had booked only Bed and Breakfast in order to have the flexibility to eat in different places, this suited us fine.
The Guest house was run by a couple, Mark and Andrea, who were very friendly and helpful. The self-service check-in process was new to me, but worked very well. On the morning of our intended arrival, we were emailed details for accessing the Guest House and for picking up our room key. Shortly after we arrived, we received a text to ensure that all was OK. It was an interesting experience, but I’m sure that it allows this trusting couple some free time to themselves. We only really saw them at breakfast time, but they were always on hand if needed.
The room was a good size, with an ensuite bathroom and shower. The room had a comfortable twin bed, a table and chair, TV, coffee machine and kettle and a small selection of bottled drinks and snacks. The bed linen and towels were plain, but adequate for our needs.
Minor point. A hairdryer was provided, but the only mirror available was in the bathroom, which was too far away from the power socket.
There were two breakfast rooms on the ground floor with six tables shared between them. Breakfast could be ordered or revised online the night before. A reasonably wide range of cereals, bread, fruit and a cooked meal was available, as well as tea and coffee.
Also on the ground floor, a large Reception Room could be used to relax in the evenings, or just to pick up keys or information leaflets.
In summary, we loved the Guest House, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a base for their stay on the Isle of Wight. During our time, the Guest House was occupied by couples, so I cannot comment on its suitability for families with children, although I believe a family room was available. It was good value for money.

The privately owned Caledon guest house in Cowes is really better than home with its comfortable rooms, immaculate housekeeping, convenient walking distance to the harbor, shops and restaurants—AND the best breakfasts in town, delivered to your room or shared in the dining room. All communicatons are efficiently handled by email and text and all extra room items, including beverages, are honor system with a QR code to pay. The home was lovingly restored and is my recommendation for a relaxing comfortable and easy stay in Cowes!

Beautiful room spacious and sea views. Hosts extremely accommodating and have supported key workers through the lock down.
They have good safety measures in place with self arrivals, options for breakfast in your room as well as facilities in the dinning room to eat your own food. This includes fridge freezer, microwave and plates, cutlery etc. They even do all the washing up!! This will be invaluable as although some take aways are open in Cowes only limited restaurants opening next week so having somewhere to eat an evening meal will be really beneficial. The hosts have even made homemade freezer dinners that you can buy while here and enjoy.
If you want a trip this is a great choice you will see safe working practices with creative solutions to support you in these unprecedented times.

We stayed at the Caledon guest house for one night, it had absolutely everything we needed. It is in a great location, a short 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal. We were greeted by Mark, the owner, on arrival who made us feel very welcome. We then went up to our room which was very clean, big and beautifully decorated. The room had everything we needed and the owners have quite clearly gone above and beyond to ensure guests have a great stay. If we return to Cowes we will certainly stay at the guest house again - thank you!

Had a fabulous week at the Caledon. The location was great for exploring on foot and by bike, and access to other parts of the Island by car. The room was large, airy and well-equipped, check in was easy and parking on the drive no problem at all. And of course I have to mention the breakfasts. I think we sampled almost all the options and they were universally delicious, but there has to be a special mention for the excellent porridge! Hope to visit again.

The Caledon is beautifully decorated and the rooms are airy and spacious. Mark & Andrea are the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome.

The breakfast on offer was excellent and locally sourced with fresh ingredients. There was plenty of variety to suit all diets.

The guest house is only a 5 minute walk into town, or to the chain ferry so perfectly located.

We would definitely stay here again and thoroughly recommend it!

We had a fabulous 2 day stay at The Caledon. Everything was thought of to make the stay as COVID secure as possible. From contactless check in and check out to QR code ordering for your breakfast and any extras from the honesty bar in the lounge and your room. The room itself was lovely and clean, we opted for the sea view and could have our breakfast in the room watching the boats come in and out. Great choice of cooked and continental breakfast. Fantastic local IOW produce featured throughout the hotel in the food, toiletries and even local artists prints available for sale. Great location with a quick 5 min walk into the centre of Cowes. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!

We have just returned home from this lovely guest house and cannot rate it highly enough. The house itself is beautiful with every amenity catered for and, as we did not bring our car, were delighted to find a bus stop almost outside the door. Our bedroom was delightful with views out to sea and it was so relaxing to wake up to the sight of tiny sailboats sailing around the bay. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast each morning served in a bright and sunny dining room and every area of the house was spotlessly clean. I cannot recommend The Caledon highly enough and we are looking forward to many more visits.
