Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another wonderful stay in one of the Alfred cottages! We’ve been coming here for a weekend as a family with dogs, children, grandparent for a few years now and always have a peaceful, relaxing stay. Cottage is always really clean and has everything you need. Friendly and helpful staff. Short pleasant walk to freshwater bay, via a coffee stop at either The Piano or Dimbola! Useful shops in Freshwater and a good chippy! Looking forward to our return visit next year.

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful weekend at Farringford Cottages. We stayed in Alfred 5 with our 2 children and 3 dogs. The cottage was gorgeous and very clean. Everything that you needed was there. It was lovely to have an enclosed garden. We will definitely be returning again soon.

We rented Stable Cottage 4 at Farringford and it was absolutely lovely. It was beautifully clean, well equipped and really peaceful. Cottages were left empty for three days between guests , which was brilliant from a Covid safety point of view. We were able to wander the grounds and the beautiful walled garden and saw red squirrels! Sadly the house is currently closed but everything else was perfect. There are lots of walks on the doorstep ....including a climb uptown Tennyson Downs with amazing views of the coast. It's only a few minutes into Freshwater and Yarmouth.....so a perfect , peaceful location!

We stayed at this beautiful cottage near Oxnead Hall, Near Norwich whilst attending my Nephew’s wedding. The cottage was set in beautiful surroundings and was beautifully laid out with lounge, kitchen, double bedroom and en-suite with a lovely garden. We were very impressed with the whole experience and the owners were extremely helpful with queries etc. All in all we had a delightful time and would highly recommend Rivers Rest.

We had a short break in September with friends to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The cottages are lovely and set in great settings. Milk, eggs, bacon, butter and bread there to welcome us. Very comfortable beds and well designed. Close to freshwater bay and walks on Tennyson down nearby. We only regret we couldn’t stay longer. But we will be back again, definitely. The only concern I have is in doing this review might add to its popularity as ideally I would like to keep it secret. But that would not be fair on others.

Wonderful walled garden with spectacular plants. There is a great parkland walk, plus the bridge to nowhere . . . You can take dogs on lead with you for the walk. Plenty of free parking. Lovely staff, great value for money and just a lovely place to wander around.

This is a lovely cosy and spotlessly clean spacious cottage. Everything you could need is supplied plus comfortable beds. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with good views from the cottage. The Lake District is easily accessible from here and an added bonus is that the cottage is dog friendly. We hope to return again soon.

We’ve stayed here four times now with our son who is now 8 years old. The cottages are superbly clean, a great breakfast welcome pack meets you, along with wood for a fire if the weather suits. Towels and bedding are good quality. The tennis court is always free to use and the location is perfect for Yarmouth ferry and eateries. We always have our car, I wouldn’t stay there without one. Great for couples or families.
