Finding ourselves without the children overnight on Saturday for the first time in years, we booked dinner at the Royal. My husband had seen it advertised on the ferry and was very keen to try it. Having checked out the reviews on here, I was happy to eat there. It was the perfect choice. On walking into the hotel it...

Stayed last weekend in September... Large room, bit dated but clean and comfortable, food was pretty good and the staff friendly and helpful.... Our room was at the front so a little noisy at night... but hey, it was summer and people are enjoying themselves... I would certainly stay again.

We stayed at the hotel from Friday to Monday to attend a birthday party. The hotel much exceeded our expections and provided excellent value for money. We ate in the hotel restaurant with friends and were very impressed. The service, menu choice and food quality were all excellent. My only reservation was that our bed was not very comfortable. Our...

Had a lovely stay at this hotel. Refurbished rooms tastefully done. In fact the whole hotel was very tastefully decorated. The food was really good and plenty of it. Hotel staff happy and eager to please. Taxi, bus, hover and train transport across the road. Very pleased.

The Royal Esplanade is an example of a really old building with lots of character being dragged into the future, lots of examples of old v's new. Rooms are cosy, basic but met my needs. Fine for a one night stay, staff were friendly, breakfast was good. Reasonably priced

I spent 2 nights at the royal esplanade for my 65th birthday with friends and family I have to say everything was amazing. I stayed on one of the superior room which was very spacious and has been beautifully decorated and furnished. We had dinner in harrys brasserie on our first night and the food and service was 10/10. Visited the restaurant of this hotel on Thursday evening with a friend and enjoyed a lovely meal and surroundings with a very reasonably priced wine list. We were looked after very well by Asen who was very efficient and friendly without being intrusive.

We arranged this hotel via a Travelzoo offer which meant that it was great value for a weekend away. The hotel was great. Situated close to the ferry terminal and directly opposite the hovercraft terminal which some might not be keen on, but my husband thought was wonderful! The room was a great size with tea and coffee and a...

We spent a five day National Holiday at the hotel after being on a similar holiday about 4 years ago. The room we occupied was a classic double room with en suite shower room. The room was clean and the bed comfortable with plenty of storage and tv. There was a plentiful supply of tea and coffee each day which...

Absolutely charming hotel, right on the sea front - we checked in about 11pm no problems and lovely evening and morning reception staff. Tea making facilities in the room, fresh towels, toiletries etc. No faults :)
