Stayed in the splendid Brighstone room, set up as a twin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was so refreshing not to be disappointed by the standard of accommodation booked - Sentry Mead surpassed all expectations. The calming environment, tastefully decorated to a high standard, the opportunity to relax in a lovely lounge, the friendly and accommodating staff, the very comfortable room and bed all made for a memorable stay. We had a couple of nights here for my wife's birthday, based largely on the positive Tripadvisor reviews. It didn't disappoint. The owners (Mark and Gayle) really could not have been more helpful, even to the extent of arranging discounted ferry travel for us. The promised electric recharging for our hybrid car was available and Mark 'blocked' the ideal parking space for us (close to the recharging point) with his own car, to ensure we could then swap cars for us to recharge overnight when we came back at the end of the day! The room (and the hotel in general) was very nicely decorated, in very good order, and very clean. Free chocolates and an honesty bar are offered to all guests, with delicious cake in the room on arrival and tea/coffee facilities, as well as access to a small communal kitchen should you want to store or prepare any of your own food (e.g. a take-away). Oh, and we received a complimentary bottle of wine in the room as it was my wife's birthday! There are a couple of good restaurants we tried within walking distance; the Waterfront (very good) and The Hut (which is not cheap, but amazing food), but there's lots of choice locally. The hotel breakfasts are outstanding. The Sentry Mead is thoroughly recommended, and we'll certainly go back.…

Sentry Mead is one of the best small hotels I have visited. From the warm welcome from Mark and Gayle, opulent furnishings throughout the hotel to a first-rate breakfast. I am just sorry I didn't find it sooner. We will be back!

The hotel is in an ideal location. The staff were all welcoming and helpful on arrival and departure. I was in a very comfortable room with an excellent bed and exceptional pillows, the chocolates are also a nice touch. The electric shower was also very good as was the overall room cleanliness. The provision of drinking water in the fridge was also a nice touch. The honesty bar (very well priced) was most welcome and the public rooms all very well presented. A hearty full English breakfast was provided to order in a spacious dining room. However, and to be fair, the room was let down by a partial but significantly blocked sink which regrettably was not fixed before the end of a short 2 day stay, despite being reported albeit in a message left on the answer phone. You should not expect issues such as this at this quality of hotel. I have since been told it has been rectified.…

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and it was wonderful! A true 4* hotel. The bedrooms were immaculate and the beds were lovely. Breakfast was good. Mark and Gayle were so welcoming. Lovely finishing touches throughout like a coffee machine in the corridor, a fridge with milk and extra bottles of water. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

We stayed for a week in the Freshwater room which is one of the smaller rooms in the hotel but big enough for a couple. The room was always clean and tidy with the owners and staff ready and willing to "go the extra mile" to make our stay enjoyable. We particularly liked the fresh milk and cold water in the fridge on the first floor landing. Our week was during the really hot part of September so the staff made sure that the curtains were pulled so the room did not get too hot. The breakfast was always cooked well with plenty of cereals, juices, cold meats and fruit available. Again the staff were very attentive. My wife has gluten free bread which was always provided without the need to ask. This is one hotel that I can really recommend.

Exceeded expectations. Every detail catered for. This is by far the best place to stay on the Isle if white. Mark and Gail are outstanding and you feel so welcome . Little extras like fresh milk in your fridge , chocolates in reception and a proper fully stocked honesty bar. Hot water with good water pressure, white fresh crisp sheets and a choice of pillows!! I could go on. Worth every penny. Stayed the other side of the island and paid much more for much much less. This is a FANTASTIC place!!!!

The best welcome to a hotel we have ever had! We can't recommend Sentry Mead highly enough. Gayle and Mark are simply the best hosts you could wish to meet. The room was immaculate, clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated, and the bed! so comfortable! Little extras that make all the difference, such as a pillow menu and fresh milk and water in your fridge every day. The communal areas are also a delight and a special shout out to Bridget who handled our breakfasts each morning so efficiently and always with a smile! We are already planning a return visit next year!
