Not been the George in ages and we had a nice time. Lovely garden, which received the sun most of the evening. Food was excellent. Good wines and service. Very pleasant spot to relax in the sun. Will return at some point
Great location in Yarmouth but all 5 of our party had very bad food poisoning that night after eating lunch there - I was the sickest I’ve been in 30 years (including when I got COVID). Avoid the place at all costs. I’ve reported them again to the health authorities
An enjoyable evening Rain the new waitress was working really hard and was trying her utmost to please whilst unfortunately most of the evening was spoilt by a badly behaved stag party however the drinks and service was good. Thank you to Rain for working hard and the other staff for ensuring a good evening was had.
What a beautiful location, right next to the water and the castle. We walked in on the spur of the moment and asked for a table for two for a light lunch on a Thursday. We asked to share some starters and had a couple of coffees. We picked the tuna tartare, buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad and jersey royal potatoes. All were absolutely delicious. At under £40 including the optional service charge, which I’d forgotten was added on automatically but didn’t mind as the service was so good, I thought it was extremely good value for money - especially as the tartare had two types of caviar! Would definitely visit again if in the area and hopefully have an evening meal.
Visited the George several times and the most recent time was not as good as before. Still Ok but not perfect. The menu selection was good, although extensive. Some of the items have increased in price significantly and/or portions a lot smaller! Wines particularly expensive Great location as well.
WOW .. what a venue ! We booked dinner for 6pm as a family and arrived for drinks sat outside an hour earlier .. fabulous beer garden allowing children to potter about on the beach while us adults relaxed with a drink (or two). Would definitely return and recommend to others. food was awesome with both adults and children happy !!
We celebrated my friends birthday and had a fantastic lunch. From the minute we were welcomed by the hostess who gave us a few recommendations on the menu, we felt we were going to have a great lunch. The staff were friendly and we couldn’t fault the service. We’ve been coming to The George for a few years and this was our favourite visit. The food has always been good but this time we all said it’s the best food on the island. The lemon sole was amazing and my partner has rebooked for us to come back, just so he can have the burger again. If your visiting the island you must visit this gem
My friends stayed Saturday night . What a disaster. We popped into see them Sunday morning for breakfast. Menu where given to us to be told by a middle waiter not serving any more. We then returned to have lunch another disaster. The service was appealing .the food not much better . Avoid at all cost
We booked ahead as it was my husbands birthday. On the day we arrived it was a glorious day and all the outside seating was taken. We arrived just before same another couple who appeared to be locals to the venue. They barged through taking the last outside table. When we asked about sitting outside we were offered something in the shade. It was disappointing the staff did not manage this situation very well. We were shown to an inside table near the folding doors and luckily we could have green open to get some fresh air as it was stifling inside. Our waiter was very attentive and once seated we were well looked after. We had a late lunch so it was not so busy inside. We both ordered the beef roast which came with all the trimmings and was delicious. The meat was some of the best I have tasted soft moist and flavoursome. Two large slices I have never been given such a generous portion. We been enjoyed desserts too. Overall a delicious meal only marred by the incident of rude customers pushing ahead when we arrived.…
Booked the george for easter lunch. Were a bit disappointed at the choice of mains for easter. To be frank the explanation given by the waitress that due to Covid and supplies, they couldn’t serve lamb for instance didn’t really wash with us. Being a non alcoholic drinker, a choice of 1 alcohol beer (becks which is really bitter) and 1 non alcoholic cocktail was very disappointing. The food was very mediocre, my beef was dry. To cut a long story short. We are locals, had a meal in the george 4 years ago, were looking forward to today, unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations especially for the price charged.
