Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Comfortable large bed. No issues booking in. Room was lovely clean and well equipped. Great sea view. Strange positioning of the TV but understandable due to the view. Breakfast was nice. Would recommend. Great location. Could benefit from and refurbishment ss a little tired.

We had a lovely stay. This hotel is staffed by welcoming. friendly young women whom I hope are well paid because they really made our stay relaxing. We went down to Deal on Friday evening preparatory to a Saturday coastal walk to Dover. Kelsey booked the room and gave us a warm welcome. We were left in no doubt that thought had been given to our room and that we had only to ask for anything else. We had the Channel Room which has great views of the Channel and a wonderful window seat from which to enjoy them. We ate out so can't comment on the Resto. In the morning, Jessica gave us a superb breakfast, again genuinely concerned for our comfort rather than servile. We left for our walk with sun in the sky and in our hearts and we cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Wind and rain soon took over but that is another story.

I was visiting a friend in Deal and looked for somewhere to stay overnight and decided to try Dunkerleys. I booked a single occupancy double room with a sea-view and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It would have been rather a small room for two people but was perfect for one. Clean, bright, comfortable bed, good wifi connection, friendly service and I had a good night's sleep. The breakfast this morning was well cooked and tasty, a full english which was included in the overnight price. What more could I ask for. A really nice overnight stay and I would definitely stay here again.

What a super find! Couldn’t fault our trip to Dunkerley’s. Preferring to stay in independent hotels, you’re never sure of what you’ll get, but Dunkerley’s did not disappoint. Location was perfect, service was perfect and the room with ‘wow, what a view!’, was perfect! Cannot recommend highly enough.

Great room with a beautiful view. Comfy bed and very clean. I was worried that as I was over the roundabout on the road it would be noisy but honestly it was very peaceful and I got a great night's rest. Breakfast was great with extremely friendly staff. When I was picked up by family they even let them sit and have a coffee with me as I wasn't quite ready to go! Lovely place.

Room Tip: No lift but nice wide staircases so not hard to get up and down, even with a stick.

The downstairs of this place is where all the money has been spent. The rooms are tired and in need of some refurbishing. The photos on their website makes them look a lot nicer than they actually are. My biggest complaint is that at no time of booking did it say this hotel is not suitable for anyone elderly or disabled. Because these people are not welcome at this hotel. Myself and my elderly dad booked for 1 night for a family funeral. On checking in, dad was told he was on the 2nd floor. It was only then did we know there wasn’t even a service lift to get him up the old, steep, stairs. After complaining a little, the lady did move dad onto the first floor, which was still a climb for my poor dad. To then top it off, he couldn’t shower in the morning as he couldn’t clamber into the bath. We wouldn’t mind, other than there being no mention of these facts when we booked. Foolishly, we thought there would, at least, be a service lift! They can’t just not cater for disabled or elderly..??! Well, think again! On a plus, the breakfast was really nice for dad. Mine, ok… no vegan offering other than beans, despite dad ringing to ask before we went. I’d suggest staying elsewhere if you 1) struggle with stairs or 2) want to stay in a little nicer room
