Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here for dinner on Saturday night and it was fabulous - the best meal I’ve ever had in Deal in my whole life. The decor was lovely. The service was immaculate, I can’t remember our waiter’s name but it was a man with a non-English accent (possibly Spanish?) and he was at the absolute top of his game. He was so warm, friendly and attentive and he knew pairings and recommendations like the back of his hand. The menu was slightly outside of the box, not your average stuff, which I love, and the food was exquisite. Particular shout out to the hispi cabbage dish, which I will be dreaming about for weeks. Never knew cabbage could be elevated to such levels. The barman Sam was also lovely and friendly, knew what he was doing, and made us some delicious cocktails. Every facet of our visit was amazing. A true 10/10 experience and can’t wait to come back.

A wonderful place to stay. In the centre of the town, on the high street moments from the sea. One expects this to be a 'seaside hotel '. It is far better than that Lovely room, with great walk in shower as well as a bath, and a king size bed, lots of space and comfy armchairs. Breakfast from a top kitchen team is a dining experience not to be missed. Breakfast confirms that you need to book your table for dinner. Jay Rayner did not exagerate in his review - you'll not be dissapointed when you dine here. An eclectic selection of well thought out dishes will satisfy all diners. Book at the Rose for a wonderful experience.

Lovely friendly converted pub/restaurant with rooms. Quirky, colourful and absolutely delicous food. The bedrooms were lovely and full of character. Squeaky floor boards near the piping hot radiators. Gorgeous bathroom (Room 3). Amazing headboards. Loved having our very own record player in the bedroom with classic records to listen to. Scoffed an entire pot of jelly beans left out to tempt me in our bedroom.

Excellent food, friendly staff and gorgeous decor but we hardly slept a wink with the church bells chiming throughout the night, creaks from other guests coming in and out and trucks unloading early in the morning.

We had originally booked room 9 but were upgraded to room 3. Very nice room with lots of quirky touches and outstanding toiletries - the hand soap qas to die for buy at £18 a bottle I won't be buying my own! No coffee in room but a coffee pod machine in the hall outside, plus a jar of tunnocks tea cakes and a decanter of brandy. Bed incredibly comfortable. Service fine. Breakfast outstanding. Only downside is noise either from nearby rooms (it's an old, creaky building) or the next door church chimes but if you want a quaint getaway in an old building with character these things happen. At £100 for the night, breakfast included it was a steal.

Just back from a 2 night stay at The Rose after reading a recommendation as one of the best winter coastal short breaks out there. We had a fantastic couple of days with lots of interesting places and nice coastal walks to see and do. The hotel itself was fantastic with really friendly and helpful staff and the food (we had breakfast & dinner) was superb and lived up to the fantastic reviews we had read previously. We think this is a real find and we will definitely be visiting again soon. Vicki & Andy.

My wife and I stayed in Room One for two nights. It was a very clean, beautifully put together, lovely space with a massive bed, record player and a load of fun, old records (think Tom Jones, Madonna, 25 rock 'n' roll greats, etc.) Free brandy in a fancy decanter in the corridor in case we fancied a nightcap, as well as tea, coffee and very nice biscuits! They also serve free tea/coffee and delicious cake for free for guests in the restaurant 3-5pm each day, which is a really nice touch. There are lots of things they do that just make you feel looked after. Room One is at the front of the property so the bells from the church weren't a problem. The staff were friendly and helpful, and Ellie was particularly great during our stay and worthy of particular mention! The restaurant is very accomplished, and the smoked beef tartare, oysters, beef kickshaw, and off-menu cocktails are particularly good. (We had a couple of aviations and a rum old fashioned, which were great.) Best of luck with everything and thanks for a great stay!

This was a family get together for a birthday surprise at the end of October. The hotel is beautifully positioned in the High Street, surrounded by lovely independent shops and restaurants, yet only two minutes walk from the glorious beachfront. The Rose is a substantial period building recently beautifully renovated and restored to reflect its history of hospitality and character. The reception, bar area and restaurant interconnect snd there is an open kitchen. There is also a lovely terrace to the rear to take drinks on. The bedrooms are all well fitted with en suite bathrooms, glorious soft furnishings and fascinating curios reflecting its past. The four rooms I visited all had turntables with selections of albums to play. The beds are really comfortable and the linen is of a very high quality. The restaurant serves superb food. I ate two divine breakfasts, try the gypsy eggs, and one really impressive dinner whilst staying at the hotel. The staff are terrific with every individual being super helpful and watching Joe making cocktail after cocktail for a demanding clientele, without any apparent rustle of stress, was a thing of beauty. I would not hesitate in recommending this really lovely hotel and would love to go back again, myself, once again.

We stayed on a quiet Sunday evening and were fortunate to be offered an upgrade. We stayed in room 4 at the front of the hotel. It had a lovely comfortable bed, freestanding bath and a fantastic shower. Towels were big and fluffy and they also have big bottles of hand wash/shampoo/conditioner - much kinder to the environment. We loved the vintage style, we also had a record player and a few dubious vinyl records which were entertaining - all from charity shops so fair play for that move! Tea and coffee on the landing, plus the decanter of whiskey for a nightcap. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was fantastic with more interesting options than normal. We would definitely recommend.
