Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little farm style lodges in idyllic setting. We stayed here for a wedding nearby and we were impressed with the room. The bed was really comfortable and the room was really clean. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, we couldn’t fault our stay!

The lodge we were allocated was absolutely freezing when we arrived!!! My husband spoke to staff about the temperature and was told it was under floor heating; my husband returned to the lodge and tried to turn the heating up but the thermostat only went up to 17c? We had our dinner then returned to the lodge and it was still too cold for us to stay. We attempted to talk to staff but they were all too busy, therefore we left the key and made our way home. I emailed the pub and explained the reasons for leaving, asking for a refund; they replied the following day and refusing me a refund. They told me to go through booking.com to get a refund; however, they did try but to no avail?! Totally disgusted, disappointed and upset!!! Lost £115 ☹️

Lovely looking properties in a lovely location. On first impressions these were attractive properties in the grounds of the pub. A couple of niggling issues (shower, mentioned elsewhere in these reviews and bedside shelf) were resolved immediately. However I think the people who own holiday accommodation should stay in them to resolve some of the snagging - - the front door had a glass window so you could see straight in when the light was on - the back door window had a blind which provided little privacy and also meant the light came in early morning - the kettle was on a shelf with another shelf immediately above it which made it dangerous when the water was boiled - the shutters didn’t shut, we had to use a tissue to keep them closed (there are no curtains) - the wall hooks are hanging off the wall - no WiFi, which is particularly tricky as there is no mobile signal either. Obviously a problem if you want to work but also a problem for keeping in touch with family Breakfast was included in the price but we ate out after the first morning because it was so limited - either cooked or continental.

Pub and surroundings were lovely, Checked in to the bridal suite as I wanted to have a bath…£150 a night … bit expensive but it was lovely … but no air con or WiFi for a start ? Confetti down the side of the bath and hair grips too! There was no room service that you could speak of as we’d been out all day, the duvet was thrown over the bed, no clean towels, bin still full, cups dirty also no toilet rolls, only the few sheets left on the roll …I was fuming 😤! (Coffee and milk was filled up though ) My partner went into the bar and said we wasn’t happy for £150 a night and explained what was wrong…. Because if I went in there I wouldn’t of been so diplomatic. They explained that we’d have to ask if we’d needed anything and that they don’t make beds ? Joke! One night we’d been out and forgot the room key, tried the bar after just 1am in the morning… explained about the key being left in the room and got told after a look that they weren’t sure where the master key was? So no bed for the night had to stay at families …located manager in morning and sorted it out. Ate in the pub one night , not a lot of variety and for what you get far too expensive… so we eat out after that . The room was lovely, but wasn’t worth £150 No WiFi The room 5 star ⭐️ Service 2 ⭐️

Stayed for 2 nights in one of the bungalows. Very nice, clean room with great shower. The pub restaurant was great. Good choice of well cooked breakfast and excellent evening meals. The restaurant staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definitely go back for another visit.

Stayed here for my birthday weekend and the staff were very attentive, welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere. Location is beautiful in a quaint village within easy reach of Sandwich and Deal sea front. The room was lovely, very clean and well presented. However the shower was way to hot to use without getting 3rd degree burns and there was a lot of noise which sounded like people moving round upstairs (not sure why as there is no upstairs to the little chalets). The food was okay but could have done better, with better presentation and more varied choices. The breakfast would have been better if it had of included maybe local farm sausages (instead of basic frozen ones) better quality bread for toast and added items such as tomatoes and mushrooms. Refillable coffee and tea would be better too. Also little candles or finishing touches in the restaurant area could have created an atmosphere similar in the bar. Overall, a great place but if I ran this inn I would tell the chef to step it up a little.

I am in a wheelchair, lucky my wheelchair is quite narrow as the door would not open fully as there was a roller blind on the back of the door as it has glass in the top half so that would really be a solid door and we had to move the bed over to get in the room. When we got the man took us through the front door which had a step which was thought was weird for an accessible room they realize another door with level access but with the blind problem. The room was pretty basic but clean, comfy bed, wardrobe and tv, there was a kettle, etc but did not use this due COVID and there were a throw and pillow on bed so took them off as well. They could with another pull-down bar the other side of the toilet. The cupboard under the sink should come out as cannot reach the sink in a wheelchair. No mirrors anywhere at wheelchair height. They do have a shower chair when we asked for it. The food was ok but pretty basic, cheap white bread and sausages. The stay was pleasant but thought is maybe a little more luxury for the money as it was my husband's birthday so thought I would treat him to somewhere really night but would have gone to Premier Inn. Sorry to say this but the lodges look like they were quite newly built and think they should have got someone in a wheelchair just to advise them on what is needed. If you are in a large chair then do not go there as will not be big enough.

The Crown Inn at Finglesham is by far one of the biggest disappointments I’ve come across, and I stay at many hotels all over the UK every year. Upon first impressions, and indeed pictures on their website, it looks fantastic - very clean, very comfortable; the reality is totally divergent! Upon arrival I was greeted with an unflushed toilet, sick dripping down the left side of the toilet seat, pubic hairs in the basin and shower, no hand soap or shower gel, 1 stained towel, sticky coffee stains on the bedside table, black hairs and sock fluff on the floor in the bedroom, sweet wrappers and other types of litter under the bed, an unwashed dirty mug, and un-emptied kettle, a stained dirty tea spoon, a half eaten biscuit in the wardrobe, a full ashtray on the patio table, and a blown bulb in the left side reading light in the bedroom. The next morning I raised these concerns with whom I assume was the manager. Despite how appalling these issues were, I didn’t get a whiff of an apology - I had to specifically ask him to clean the room while I was out during the day. When I arrived back to my room in the evening, I was utterly dumbfounded to discover that he had cleaned the sick from toilet seat, however he had not bothered with any of the other concerns I had raised! Indeed, to top it off - he left me a pack of Dettol wipes for me to do the cleaning myself!! Can you believe they charge £95 a night for this dump??!! I went up to the pub where the so-called reception is, to hand back the Dettol wipes and request yet again some soap for the basin - I cannot believe that at a time where there’s a worldwide pandemic, I have to pester the manager for hand soap in a £95 per night room! In relation to the price, this room is ridiculously overpriced even if the room was spic and span! The Crown is located out in the sticks where there is no mobile reception, and yet there is no WiFi! I cannot believe that in 2020, a hotel priced at £95 a night has no internet. Additionally, there is no air conditioning, and they don’t make up the rooms every day!! This place is a joke. A bloody budget hotel chain offers air conditioning and internet for their guests, and they have someone come in and make the bed and freshen up the room for you so it’s a nice environment to come back to - and they charge half the price! Overall this is probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in - based on the amount of issues I experienced with the room, the unapologetic and arrogant attitude of management, the lack of amenities for guests and the price. If it had been me paying for this room instead of the company I work for, I would have pestered management much harder to address these issues and get a reduction in the final bill - because the overall experience I received was certainly not reflected in the price my employer paid. I was booked in to stay for 1 week, Sunday to Sunday! I checked out on Thursday morning because I was so angry and distressed by the filth hole I was staying in! I ended up booking into a budget chain hotel for £52 a night, which was remarkably cleaner, had internet and ice-cold air con! The hotel was that bad I was willing to be out of pocket, and pay for my own accommodation for a work related trip! I’ll end by saying don’t fall for the cute idyllic setting of the pub and it’s lodges, and how inviting the accommodation looks on their website - you’ll be in for a disappointment. I wouldn’t stay here again if it was the only hotel in Kent!

We stayed at in one of the lodges after a visit to the pub. The pub is in a lovely rural village location close to Sandwich and Deal. On arrival we were welcomed by the owners of the pub who clearly are very much part of the local community. The staff were very attentive, well presented and friendly, a lovely family feel within the work force. The pub itself is very pretty from the outside with a nice display of colour from the flowers on the front, it very cosy and comfortable inside with plenty of seating and space with a seperate dining area. There is plenty of parking at the rear, the pub garden is kept well with an amazing play area should you wish to have a drink outside with the kids, free WiFi which is always a bonus 👍 I didn't eat but the choice on the menu looked very varied and catered for all. The lodge was a good size with a comfy bed and soft pillows(hate hard pillows)🥴 The bedding was fresh, the shower was large, fresh white towels with TV and tea/coffee facilities. Being so rural it was very quiet and the views at the back were lovely, lawns all kept tidy. Will be returning to try out the menu.. 😁. Thank you for for your service.
