Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s such a shame that my cousin booked his 40th party here. Deposits were made. Some couldn’t make for certain reasons and he was charged full price for those who didn’t make it!!! This is shocking I have never known a venue to do this or even get away with doing this!! And did not even care charging £100s wow!!! I will not be going there ever again.

Excellent stay at this lovely hotel. I booked as a surprise for my husbands birthday/retirement celebrations. When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a balcony room, because it was a special trip, this was such a lovely surprise, and the room was amazing. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The hotel is spotless and clean. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choices, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are thinking of staying in Deal. We will definitely be back,

We had lunch in the bistro. Waiting staff and food lovely but spoilt by rude ignorant assistant manager. Large man with beard. Slammed our drinks on table didn't make eye contact or say a word!!! Very bad customer service from him and rude. Other staff were great but he should lead by example.

Sadly a very disappointing experience. My partners 40th birthday was ruined due to the staff charging in full for everybodys meals who could not make it, even though the restaurant was notified days before the occasion despite the deposit being paid. The complimentary champagne was also charged for, even though it was agreed before the birthday party but this was also ignored and he was charged for that too. To add insult to injury, the staff were even rude about it and after a despute about this afterwards, the manager said he would give us a complimentary bottle of champagne which never came. Overall theres nothing complimentary about this restaurant. The food was ok but over priced, and then we were robbed so i advise anybody who is thinking of going there for a meal or to celebrate a special occasion with family and friends, not to waste your time. Please dont waste your time.

Right from the start the check-in was smooth and pleasant. When we went to the rooms they were spotlessly clean and well eguipt. We had a balcony room which was very large and a room with a view that cannot be beaten. The included breakfast had a choice for everyone and was delicious.

We went to my sons 40th birthday dinner, we paid a £10 deposit. Quite a few people who has paid there depoit did not show up. We paid for our drinks when ordering them. After the meal (which was dissapointing, it looked like it had been reheated in a microwave oven) we paid our remaining balance of £30 each. My son was charged for all the people that never turned up which is disgusting. They has paid a £10 deposit which they lost!! They have robbed my son !!!will not be going there again .

Large, top-floor, "basic" room at an affordable price with breakfast included. Plenty of hot water in the spacious bathroom with a great sea view. Heating never quite made it to the room - watch this on cold windy days because the single-glazed windows rattle and whistle. Evening meal was fine although the kitchen seemed to be caught by surprise that people were wanting food, and several things were unavailable. Hotel parking is in the council pay-and-display immediately outside. Overnight is free, but you have to get up in the morning to feed the meter. Interesting staircase to top floor might be a problem for the inebriated.

We enjoyed New Year's Eve at the Royal Hotel Deal. We had a fantastic festive meal with a great atmosphere. The managers and staff were as usual very accommodating and attentive. The DJ played great music 70s to 90s and we danced the night away and had a lot of fun.

The Royal Hotel has a superb beachfront location. Unfortunately it has no car park so parking costs an extra £9.60 a day which we were not made aware of before booking. We arrived mid week at 7.00pm after driving for seven hours, only to be told that the kitchen was closed due to lack of staff due to illness. We had to unpack and go out in the rain to find a restaurant. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. Full English breakfast took some time coming and looked as if the constituent parts had been thrown on the plate - the beans were totally dried up and inedible - the poached eggs were not cooked properly- and the bacon and sausage were poor quality. On our second morning we waited 40 minutes for poached eggs on toast. There was no fresh fruit left at 9.30am and only one small jug of orange juice and water which were empty and we had to ask to have them filled. On our third morning, despite having paid for breakfast, we missed it and drove to have a delicious breakfast elsewhere. Our Nelson room was in a fantastic position so close to the sea and the facilities in the room were excellent. It was extremely clean and comfortable. However it was so disappointing that the only meal we had booked for each day was so disappointing.

Excellent help from Edita at reception with arrangements for a family weekend; excellent food; lovely building; location superb; building well maintained and clean; housekeepers first class; bar and waiting staff helpful and cheerful. It was not cheap but it worked. The two problems I had were that the heating for the room was good in the evenings and in the mornings but not warm enough during the day, and that the hot water wasn't (hot, that is, merely warm). I wish we could afford to stay here more often as it's a nice hotel and Deal and environs are lovely. I'll just have to save up.
