The campsite is part of a 250 acre family farm a short distance from Bedgebury Pinetum. It is located 0.5km down a farm track, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, making it quiet and secluded, and safe for children. The site is open for a selected number of days during the summer for tent and campervan camping and provides a variety of pitches for those looking for different experiences. On arrival, you are allocated to a field and then free to choose where to pitch within that area. Friends and families can camp together, with parking by your tent. Campfires are allowed, with firewood available at on site shop. There are free hot showers, toilets both flushable and eco, standpipes and washing up areas with hot water located conveniently across the site. The campsite is within easy reach of a number of the top attractions in Kent, including Bedgebury Pinetum and Bewl Water. Alternatively simply relax in the peace of natural surroundings during the day and light a campfire and gaze up at the starry sky at night.

Bedgebury is huge, with numerous fields, all with a different vibe: groups, adults only, quiet etc, and the staff and booking system seems very good at putting people in the right field according to your answers about whether you like to sit out past 11pm etc.

Your booking can also link to the bookings of friends, to make sure you are all in the same field.

Once you allocated your field, you can camp where you like.

Some fields do have a lot of sloping ground, but we managed to find space for 7 families on a nice flat area.

Toilets are good compost loos dotted about the fields - plenty of them, and flushing toilets in a portacabin at Reception.

You can order logs and hay bales to sit on, delivered to your tent (attract the vehicle as they patrol, early evening) and there are firepits available free all over the fields.

The shop sells ice creams, cold beers, essentials. Pizza and Fish and Chip van on Saturday evening.

The site was only 60% full due to encouraging social distancing - the 'groups' field could feel very hectic at full capacity, I think. The group next to us were playing music in the evening, which is banned on site, a bit of a patrol by staff would not come amiss.

Great location, will definitely return.

It was very windy when we spent the weekend there, we were placed in a field on top of the hill. The lower fields had no wind at all due to shelter from trees etc.
Pro's - Very helpful staff, always cleaning and working hard.
Toilets and washing areas clean and tidy, running water in the fields so you can fill up your water containers.
Cons - Very expensive shop (Beer etc) £2 for a can of beer!! Take your own like we did, but was curious so asked for prices.
Pizza and Chip vans are expensive. Coffee van very expensive!! Small bacon and sausage bap was £4.95!!!
We enjoyed our weekend with friends cant help the weather but still had a nice time. Needs a kids play area, not just a tyre on a rope swing.

Response from Jim Henley, Owner at Bedgebury Camping
Responded 9 Sept 2020
We are pleased that this reviewer acknowledged that our team were busy working to keep the campsite clean and tidy and largely enjoyed their weekend here. We would like to thank the reviewer for highlighting the fact that we have a small shop and food outlets on site selling snacks, drinks and cooked food. There is no obligation for anyone to use these services. What they do offer, however, is the convenience of not having to get into the car and drive out to the nearest shop to restock, or organise and prepare ones’ own food. The campsite won’t be able to offer a children's play area, given the fact that we are set on a working farm and what we offer here is a naturally beautiful environment and acres of space to play in. Furthermore, many families bring their own games and we also have a woodland area that children enjoy exploring.

A lovely night away with a group of friends, live performances were great entertainment and everyone was really friendly. Will definitely return and would recommend to everyone.
The camp site is also very spacious meaning everyone can keep their distance during this time.

We've just returned from our Third annual camping trip to Bedgebury as a school community. Our group includes many first time campers and lots of very experienced ones.

This was the best year yet, not least due to the fabulous weather. We loved the renewed washing facilities, the enduringly helpful staff, the range of food offerings and certainly the new cocktail bar! The site is clean and expansive, my two children spent much of their time playing happily in the shady stream area.

Our group has over 100 families and the team at Bedgebury always do their utmost to ensure that we have a memorable weekend in their beautiful campsite.

Thank you again, we're already looking forward to next year.

An unfortunate experience for all concerned. I leave this review with the best of intentions. If you are a group booking call ahead and email ahead to confirm your requirements. BE VERY SPECIFIC. Given the kindly advice I left, I imagine certain updates on the camp website will offer more clarification for future bookings. If you want a peaceful stay in a very natural environment, this is the place for you. If you wish for more freedom, music and noise among friends, the staff will unintentionally lull you into believing they can be accommodating, they cannot, to the consternation of my group who was reported last week.
We do not blame the staff for being intentionally awkward but more clarity for future customers would help matters. I would revisit with a smaller/family group.

We were pleased to be allocated a quiet field. There were 4 other tents that were well dinstanced from us. We were near a small stream. Our 2 children (10 and 12) loved exploring the wooded area.
We had a couple of first aid incidents (our fault) and the first aider in the shop was excellent. I didnt catch his name - but he assisted when i cut my foot and my daughter had become very sick (at the sight of blood!) He couldnt have been more helpful and even drove us back to our tent as he could see we were struggling. So a massive thank you to him :-)
All in all, we had a great break. We are not regualr campers but found the booking system / check in and set up very easy. We would come back. The evening Saturday night music was a bonus, as was the food vans, although be prepared to queue. Thank you for a lovely little holiday.

This was our fourth visit and as always, we had a great time.
We appreciate that you are not charged for gazebos and that you can have a campfire.
There is plenty of space and things to do and the live music is a really great addition.
The staff are really helpful and friendly. Ted and Damien in particular this year were great.
There are plenty of compost toilets and good facilities in the ‘posh’ toilets and showers.
Beautiful area, plenty to do. Thank you Bedgebury, our 4th visit won’t be our last.

Love, love, love this place. Shame you can only camp there for 2 nights - kids loved it so much they wanted to stay an extra night. A place for kids to be kids and to reconnect. Highly recommend. We will be back,

We have been going to Bedgebury Camping annually since 2017. The facilities (toilet and shower block) have improved over the years as well as the on-site catering.

Each year we have been assigned Apple field, which is for families. Our children (now 13 & 10) make new friends and spend their time playing cricket, football, manhunt etc. a great no tech weekend.

This year we didn’t book any activities as the only option was archery for our weekend and we’ve done that the past 2 years.
Although we didn’t try it, a new addition is a crazy croquet pitch by the catering huts.

Also this year, we decided we’d not cook on the Saturday and try the catering options.
Breakfast: I chose a yummy breakfast bun with sausage and egg. Daughter chose waffle with strawberries and cream. Also Box 28 served a variety of coffees.
Lunch: chicken or halloumi wraps with wedges. The wraps were a bit sparse on filling, but the wedges were delicious.
Dinner: Sausage and chips. The chips are really chunky. (We’ve tried the curry hut previously and that too was delicious).
Cocktails: we tried a couple of the alcoholic and a mocktail.

The site staff are very helpful.

The camp site has a very family friendly feel.

Looking forward to returning in 2024!

A wonderful campsite with lovely eco-friendly philosophy. Couldn’t fault it. Great location with nice local walks to Goudhurst, Bedgebury Forest / Pinetum. Food, drink and music facilities really well done. Helpful staff, spotless facilities. A lovely stay, thank you.
