My husband and I stayed here for a 1 night break and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location of the hotel is in a lovely picturesque quite village. Inside there is a typical country looking pub with wooden beams and a roaring fire, idyllic setting for a nice drink at reasonable prices. The food is tasty, hearty home cooked food with...

We had a very warm welcome by the staff when we arrived. The room was clean and tidy and big enough for us both. We used the bar to eat which was good freshly cooked food, again very friendly staff. The open fire on a cold January day was very pleaseant while drinking good wine and beer. Dinner was freshly...

booked on a living social DBB deal, ridiculous value so had low expectation but all were met. Rooms were comfy but bathrooms dated but as expected in 15th century inn. Spotlessly clean, and cosy, nice bed! Lovely dinner served by roaring fire, good choice of ales, nothing that would knock anybody's socks off but a great little break and would...

This place is a lovely friendly place to stay. We also had a meal. All the food is home made with a good choice and was delicious. We had a room with a four poster bed, room very clean and spacious. Breakfast also very good, we would certainly go back there, would recommend you visit to see for yourself.

We were looking for a pet friendly hotel for one night, as we have a six month old puppy. We came across this one, and thought it was a good choice price-wise, and no added charge for taking your dog, as so often happens. There have been a few negative comments about the decor being tired and a little scruffy,...

We purchased an overnight package deal on Wowcher. It was reasonably priced at first glance, however as we arrived on a Friday, there was an extra £15 surcharge for our room. The dinner was okay, though nothing really ideal for Vegans and Vegetarians. The room was tidy enough but it was situated right about the kitchen chillers, so sleep was...

Rooms are a typical old pub style and yes are old. There are flaws with in the rooms but if you're not poncy you'll accept it. The food was okay, apart from the chicken from the fajitas was burnt onto the pallet, we ordered a selection of cheeses which was also nice just needs some chutney added to the dish...

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at the Castle. The room was warm and comfortable and the meal in the restaurant was superb - I had beef rending which was authentic and delicious! We will be returning!

Stayed here one night on our way to France the next morning; about 15 minutes away from the ferry/tunnel. The place itself is a little tired and run down but makes up for it in many other ways. Not least the price which, for this neck of the woods, was reasonable. Bed was comfortable, the toilet necessarily noisy (macerators don't...

Having just returned from a Saturday night at this hotel. Had a lovely night. The restaurant serves a wonderful selection of bar snacks , and the main menu together with a daily specials board has even more. The Owner and staff are very friendly , and welcoming. The food is delicious , the room was comfortable and clean. Only down...
