The Fort Road Hotel comes highly recommended for its stylish amenities and comfortable, well-designed rooms that include luxurious details, as acknowledged by guests. Its prime location, a stone's throw from key attractions, adds to its appeal. While most reviews celebrate the hotel's cleanliness and the friendly service offered by the staff, a few mention occasional noise in rooms and sporadic service delays.
The on-site restaurant with its unique culinary offerings is particularly popular, though opinions on value for money do vary among travelers. Overall, the hotel's atmosphere is lauded for its luxurious yet homely vibe.

Absolutely lovely experience. I stayed in Room 4 which had a large window seat with an amazing view, perfect for reading. It was obvious everything in the room had been curated with great care including the bedding, towels, soaps from Haeckels, furniture, artwork and books. The room included a mini fridge which was stocked with water and milk. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The food at the restaurant outstanding. The hotel is in a perfect location with a short walk to everything Margate has to offer.

Staying at the Fort Road Hotel is a treat in itself. The interior design of the communal areas and of the rooms struck us immediately and we were happy to stay longer in our room than we would normally. Special mention of the luxurious bedding is due and both of us slept exceptionally well. Staff were all very helpful.
The hotel has no parking of itself but we were able to drop off our baggage and park nearby in a public car park. Although adequate we felt that this could have been explained better beforehand.
In addition to its own creative kitchen the hotel is set in the midst of Margate's creative community and a selection of hospitality venues. It is an ideal base to experience this aspect of the town.

Good boutique hotel close to the seafront and amenities but away from the crowds. We stayed in a Superior Seaview room (number 9) which was very pleasant and finished to a high quality – it was not huge but was very well designed with plenty of storage and had a spacious feel due to the large bay window (facing E/N/W) giving a cosy seating area. Bed was large and very comfortable. Room had airco which was welcome due to the sunny aspect. Bathroom too was well designed and with good toiletries. We also ate in the hotel's "Colina" restaurant which provided delicious tapas-like dishes. Would recommend this hotel.

We stayed two nights in early Nov costing £ 520 excluding the cost of breakfast, so this was far from a cheap stay. Despite the hype around the opening of this hotel some aspects were very disappointing and certainly not good value for money. An indication of the limited competition in the town for modern “boutique style“ hotel accommodation, I guess. The location was central and near the old town but on a busy road.
The sea view room was well appointed, the bed very comfortable with dual aspect sea views which was good but slightly overlooked from the Arcadian flats next door from one aspect. While room 4 may have been regarded as generous in size, it was quite small in reality. Placing a narrow radiator under the window behind curtains which would be drawn in winter evenings is also not a good or environmentally sensible heating solution.
The shower and bathroom were very nice however the towel rail was not working during our stay and the sink plug did not close tightly so it emptied quicker than one could shave. The shower room was cold and appeared unheated. This is not acceptable!
The Haeckel toiletries were exceptionally good and generous in quantities supplied.
The timber floor boards outside the shower room had lifted suggesting a possible leak. In any event this prevented the room door from opening and closing properly it jarred.
The problem with the lack of heating and towel rail was raised in person during our stay twice and by email during our stay but was effectively ignored. There was no receptionist everything appears to be done online.
This building was a boarding house in earlier historical times and suffers from “trying to get a quart out of a pint pot.” despite the renovations and building expansions.
Although the top rooms are more spacious and even more expensive, the roof terrace affords spectacular views over the town and main beach and coast. On a summer evening this would be the place to be.
Three of us ate in the restaurant one evening. The food was ordinary and a little disappointing given the cost. I would not recommend the restaurant. The house wine was good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was a little underwhelming and the kipper disappointing. Every item was charged for separately, which given the cost of the rooms is not reasonable or value for my money. The dining room is not that comfortable unless one is fortunate enough to be seated on a larger table.
The basement bar is fabulous but is potentially a little subterranean for some.
The staff were generally friendly and pleasant enough but some clearly are not on top of what they are doing.
It remains to be seen if this establishment will do well.

The new Fort Road Hotel is a delight. Overlooking the sea and Turner Contemporary in Margate's old town, this lovely small hotel is pefect for a long weekend or even a few days more. The restaurant is one of the best in Margate, the bedrooms are fresh and light, with great bathrooms, and there's a snug cocktail bar in the basement. Plus charming staff. What more could you wish for in the buzzing Margate old town?

A lovely, small boutique hotel, just opposite the Turner Contemporary, a couple of minutes from Margate main sands, or 10 mins walk to Walpole Bay tidal pool. A few minutes from Margate old town (which local businesses are now calling The Fort Quarter) with its small shops, restaurants, galleries. The Fort Road Hotel has a fine restaurant serving Spanish/Mediterranean small plates (Colina - look it up), and a basement bar. The rooms are thoughtfully designed. Original art on the walls. A curated selection of books from a local independent bookshop on the bedside table. Bathroom shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser from local company too. Tranquilly, no TV (but if this upsets you, the wi-fi is good, so if you have your tablet…). Chill out reading or watching the sunset on the roof terrace (great cocktails from the bar, taken up to the roof, really hit the spot). And what really made it was the staff, who know they’re in hospitality, make guests feel welcome and relaxed without being intrusive. I sort of didn’t want to write this, because then you’ll all know about the Fort Road Hotel!

Poor service, unprofessional reception staff, food served was disproportionately expensive. My toasts were burned, etc. Rooms look nicer on the website rather then in real and missed shelves or place where to put my clothing.

We have stayed at many luxury hotels worldwide with,it has to be said, mixed findings.
A long planned trip to Margate gave us opportunity to stay at this hotel. As a previous reviewer has said, much thought has gone into the rooms. We stayed in superior sea view room. The very ample window seat gave a superb view of the bay and sea; the bed was very comfortable with superior bed linen. A powerful shower and lovely toiletries plus the nice touches of fresh milk and cookies on arrival were appreciated. One slight niggle is the washbasin is far too small; more suited to a cloakroom.
There were some negatives. Parking is certainly an issue with nowhere to park in the immediate vicinity of the hotel unless there were fewer cars parked along the side streets than when we visited. The car parks at the Turner and the harbour are short stay only at 2-4 hrs maximum. The nearest acceptable car park is a five minute walk. Whilst this is out of the control of the hotel, it does need mentioning on the website and when booking particularly for those with mobility issues.
Breakfast was a disappointment; no pot of coffee, nor offer of toast. We ordered porridge which was very meagre and the granola and yogurt was more like a bowl of yoghurt with a few shards of candied fruit and nuts.
In an otherwise satisfactory stay in a lovely hotel, this was disappointing.

Fabulous newly refurbished hotel with excellent location and views. The hospitality was first class and the rooms beautifully furnished with lots of luxury touches from complimentary razors to original artwork on the walls. Will stay again when next in the vicinity.

This is a gorgeous hotel, stylish, clean and comfortable, with lots of interesting touches. Comfy beds, fresh coffee and cookies provided, wonderful views from the roof terrace and lots of interesting original artworks as well as old maps and photographs reflecting the history of the building and the town.
We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant, which seemed popular with guests and locals. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a great location, near the Turner Contemporary and the Old Town, so a great place for a weekend break. Highly recommended!
