Stayed one night in dormer room on 4th floor. Room spacious and well appointed and quite modern considering the location. Bed comfortable. Lighting good for reading. Desk space is small. Good closets and can make tea and coffee in room. Small balcony where you can sit, although to see the ocean you have to stand up. WiFi was strong although...

We booked a "couples getaway" charged at £250 for a single night. When booking I assumed at this price it would include dinner but it turned out this was not the case so we had to eat elsewhere. On arrival the people at the reception desk were pretty off hand and did not show us up to our room or...

This is a really good hotel at a good price. Our room was comfortable, modern, peaceful and spacious, and although without windows, curtains and glass cabinet cleverly gave the illusion of a window. The focal point of the hotel is the high ceiling-ed dining room/bar which runs from the front terrace overlooking the bay to the entrance on the high...

Don't be fooled by the modest exterior! This is a stylish, comfortable hotel, with excellent food and service. Had superb dinner, chicken terrine to die for and delicious lamb and sea bass. Didn't try the puddings but great cheese board. Very close to beach and Turner Contemporary. Very nice bedroom with both bath and separate shower ensuite. Comfortable piano bar....

This modern hotel is actually a rebuild of an older hotel, retaining some original features. It is just a 10 minute walk from the station, 5 to the Turner art gallery. My room was comfort itself, and I loved the bathroom's enormous walk-in shower complete with seat. The restaurant has a wonderful view across the beach, and the food at...

Dear IanCLondon, Thank you for taking the time to review Sands Hotel. You are quite right about the history of the hotel. It was originally called The Terrace Hotel and was built in 1888. In 2011, the property was bought at auction by Nick Conington, whose original plan was to turn the building into luxury apartments. After discovering the property...

Due to timings, we were unable to go away this break so decided to visit a nearby traditional seaside resort. Oh dear. If you want to know what Margate looked like twenty years ago, go now. I suspect little has changed, apart from an increase in the number of homeless and the closure of most of the shops. The good...

Stopped here for the set lunch which was delicious and very good value. The views across the beach to the sea are stunning. We were slightly put off by a lady with a very loud voice who was obviously a local college tutor assessing/ training young staff at on of the tables. We were at the other side of the...
